My husband is a nurse practitioner in family practice. A patient tried to argue with him that Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan told him the covid vaccines are unsafe. Really? You’re taking medical advice from Tucker Carlson? The hypocrite is probably vaccinated himself.

Former US House Speaker Frist is stepping up in Tennessee ... And as my DH was so excitedly watching college football last night, he stopped on the TN game. He looked at me and said "want to play your game again?". He waited for a crowd shot and asked me how many masks I saw. NONE!! And the stadium was packed! I told him there was absolutely no surprise there since it was TN. I knew how bad it is there. I said I would also state not too many vaccinations in that crowd. So let's wait for the numbers of all college and pro games in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I love football. My DD works as the Director of Compliance in sports at a southern university. It's a sh*t storm down there, her words. She wears her mask, social distances from folks and is fully vaxxed. She is also pretty darn sure she had Covid after Mardi Gras last year since that was the beginning of us being more in the know but not testing at that time. But there still needs to be some due diligence on games. DH did tell me that the Tampa Bay Bucs were 100% vaxxed. May be the only team that is. I could be wrong on that. So at least my Bucs are being smart.(and I liked them way before Tom came on board. we go back 35 years) As far as the OP, I am saying some pretty outspoken things these days. I work in a church and I should be more Christian like and I am trying, but that people are intentionally dying due to ignorance is beyond me. I have started saying "oh well, no pity from me, etc etc" a lot. I get the look from folks. Well, I am tired so my filter is gone. Fire me.

A very dear friend is the Corona virus queen here at our hospital. She had to deal with our pastor a couple of weeks ago when he had been exposed and was "quarantining". He called her once he got his negative and asked when he could get out and out(he'd been in the office every day). She told him it should be 7 days from contact and really, 2 more days after negative test. Well, he was exposed at 11 am on a Thursday, tested on Wednesday, so I'll go in Thursday afternoon. She just shut her mouth and said fine. She later told me she was done with stupid people and didn't want to argue anymore.

Our county is even worse. 79% voted for Trump both in 2016 and 2020. Since August 18, we have had 8 deaths. We have a population of less than 40,000 people. As of yesterday there had been over 400 cases in the last 2 weeks which means >1% of our entire population has been infected in the last 2 weeks. 16 people are currently in the hospital - well, hospitals in surrounding counties because we aren't big enough to have our own hospital. Vaccination rate is still under 40%. So, you wear an anti-contamination suit when you go out? I get where you are coming from with the pro-Trump crowd, and the size of your county. We are about the same size, and were 86% and 84% for Trump, I think. Your post had me curious because I haven’t looked in a while so I checked out our numbers. Happy, and surprised to see a vaccination rate of almost 60%. I’m fairly certain they take masks away when you walk into places around here cause DH says almost no one wears them. But that’s a complaint for another thread. Our reported cases and deaths are where they were around March, but I don’t know if I trust these numbers. Take that back, I don’t. DH’s facility ended up losing almost a third of their residents in a fairly short amount of time last year and those numbers were definitely not reflected in the data coming out at the time. Stay safe! I just came from town where I had business at the clerk's office and the tax office. The former had a 'mask required' sign up and most employees had on masks. The latter did not require masks and no one was wearing one. They did have plexiglass barriers. The Clerk of Court is a democrat. The tax office is in with the Register of Deeds who is a Republican. Coincidence? I think not.

I'll be honest. I do feel badly for them. They believed and trusted in people who have taken advantage of them and steered them wrong. It's sad. I had a friend from high school post today about how much she loves her governor and how he should be President. She lives in Florida. And all I could think is: "I hope you don't leave your house unmasked - please don't share anyone's air and I hope you got vaccinated." It makes my heart hurt.
Now, that being said..the people dying who promote this garbage? The right wing radio broadcasters, the anti-vax, anti-mask big mouths? Oh, no fucks to give there at all.

Same, trumper SIL told us a couple days ago tested positive, in which I had no comment. She refuses to get vaccinated because "there aren't enough studies", "her non practicing nurse for years" told her not to get it. In the he mean time she went yesterday for the IV treatment. She called me today and was saying treatment was fine, took 2 hours total, sat there watched a movie (in a room with a whole lot of other positive testing people) and thinks that's ok. Makes me sick. Did I mention her unvaccinated husband was diagnosed with Leukemia in May and only thing they are doing different is during their quarantine sleeping in different rooms. UGH

I never heard of Joe Rogan until dh mentioned him. Apparently he's a stupid anti-mask, anti vaccine you tuber who recommends ivermectin. Guys like him are dangerous and people are listening to him. Here's a doctor that breaks down why what he says is nonsense. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGvlPeo5bNU

One thing that gets me why do the Feds allow what DeSantis is doing?
The vaccine is $25. The monoclonal anti-bodies infusion costs $2000+..
WE, the taxpayers are paying an extra $1975+ per person to pump up DeSantis' ego. This instead of 80+ vaccines for others,!!!!

Alabama is using their federal Covid relief funds to try to build a prison or two. Not like they could use it to prevent all their Covid deaths, encourage vaccines . And what ever else.. nah show the libs from NY!! Alabama is using COVID money to build prisons — and the governor is justifying it by attacking the government Sarah K. Burris September 29, 2021 Gov. Kay Ivey (R-AL) is dismissing criticisms of her new plan to use COVID relief funds to pay for more prisons. "The Democrat-controlled federal government has never had an issue with throwing trillions of dollars toward their ideological pet projects," Ivey said in a statement, reported the Washington Post. "These prisons need to be built, and we have crafted a fiscally conservative plan." Meanwhile, Alabama has been one of the hardest-hit states in the country for COVID-related deaths. Thus far, almost 15,000 people have died in the state. The federal government swooped in to help with the American Rescue Plan, but instead of spending it on COVID-related issues, Ivey wants to funnel the cash to build for-profit prisons. The money has few restrictions, explained the Post. It says that governments must use it to help residents and businesses directly hurt by the pandemic, invest in long-term projects or supplement budgets hurt by budget shortfalls due to the shutdown. Ivey is using that to meet her two-year commitment to building the two men's prisons. Republicans on the ground in Alabama have turned the questions to being a war between Alabama and "New York liberals" trying to tell Alabama what they can and can't do. www.rawstory.com/kay-ivey-gives-money-private-prisons/

The next thing you know, they'll be opening "homes" for unwed mothers and workhouses for poor and homeless people.

More off the wall treatment to avoid getting a vaccine!! Let us not forget ingesting bleach.... Instead of just getting vaccinated, anti-vaxxers are drinking iodine antiseptic Nicole Karlis, Salon September 29, 2021 Another ineffective treatment for COVID-19 is being promoted in anti-vaccine and science-skeptical circles. First there was hydroxychloroquine, then ivermectin; now, according to multiple reports, some Americans are gargling and/or ingesting the iodine-based liquid Betadine to prevent COVID-19 — instead of getting vaccinated. Betadine is the brand name for povidone-iodine, an amber-colored liquid typically sold as a 10% solution as an antiseptic for cleaning wounds and skin. A 0.5% solution is sold as a gargle for sore throats, but the manufacturer cautions people not to swallow it. Recently, the manufacturer warned consumers not to consume Betadine to treat COVID-19, or rely on it as a form of treatment. "Betadine Antiseptic First Aid products have not been approved to treat coronavirus," reads a statement on the manufacturer's website. "Products should only be used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns. Betadine Antiseptic products have not been demonstrated to be effective for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 or any other viruses." Depending on which type of Betadine one ingests, side effects can range from stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, extreme thirst, being unable to urinate to diarrhea, vomiting, and burning a person's gastrointestinal tract. www.rawstory.com/anti-vaxxers-iodine/

RegeneRon has been used for over a year now... Ivermectin for Covid, never!! Right, but isn’t Regeneron also being used under an EUA? How is that different from the various Covid vaccines which have been being tested for much longer, and Pfizer at least is now fully approved? And as for Ivermectin? I honestly have no words.

No difference except regeneRon DeSantis has a 10 million dollar donor to his PAC who bought 25+ million dollars in shares from "regeneRon" maker... Vaccines $25 RegeneRon $2000 We, the taxpayers, foot the cost.. $1975 more then a $25 vaccine. I do not believe regeneRon is permanent or an equal preventative as a vaccine. Betaine pretty cheap, ivermectin from the feed store costs a bit more ... Bleach was hard to get last year....

DH's great niece just lost her FIL to Covid here in FL. I was only 50 years old and he sprouted the nonsense about the vaccines being unsafe, etc. He passed 8 days after he was diagnosed!
I just don't understand people. I'd hope that this tragedy becomes a learning moment, but I doubt it. The family was blaming the "stupid hospital because everyone with Covid doesn't come out of there". Sheesh.

Wow.
Had no idea MS is now #1 in deaths/MM. I never thought any state would go past NY and NJ since they got hit so early and so hard.
How terrible and avoidable.

It doesn’t make any sense to leave these people, who are supposed to be “in charge,” susceptible to a killer disease we have a vaccine for.

A little late but the gov of Idaho speaks out for vaccines... Monoclonal antibody therapeutics are authorized by the Food and Drug Administration — the same kind of authorization the FDA gave to Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. The monoclonal antibodies are not yet FDA-approved like the Pfizer vaccine is.*** I would remind everybody that, because of what COVID is doing nationwide, there's a supply crunch," said Idaho Gov. Brad Little on a telephone town hall Tuesday. “And it's a lot easier to get vaccinated, to talk to your doctor and make the choice to get vaccinated, than to wait and take the chance that there may not be monoclonal antibodies (available). As a reminder, the Pfizer vaccine has got full approval, but the monoclonal antibody is still under an emergency use authorization. … We're putting resources into it, but it's not as good as the vaccines."www.rawstory.com/what-are-monoclonal-antibodies/
