Well..... For a simple cylinder type check Dollar Tree for a start. And yes I buy flowers from Aldi once on a while... Just because...
I also have a Yankee Candle thing I cleaned out after the candle to use.
Before I had those I just used and older glass juice jug...
They are for me. I don't need fancy and expensive...

Check your thrift store! There are usually quite a few of them there for little cost in many shapes/sizes. Also, look around your house and think outside the box. I use some of my pitcher collection at times for flowers. I just snapped this photo of vases/pitchers that I keep on hand. Almost all the clear ones are from florist arrangements, the type you'll easily find at the thrift store. The blue one is a tulip vase from The Netherlands that I found at the thrift store for $8! I recently decluttered them and tried to just keep one per shape/size.

I used to have lots of vases but when I moved to my current house which is a third of the size of my former one, vases were severely restricted! I find the ones I use most often are a clear cylinder and a clear cuboid. I have a couple of jugs which can also be used if I get suddenly inundated with bouquets. 😄

never buy them at the store because I don’t have the right size vase. Just because the flowers have long stems doesn't mean they have to stay long! Wack those stems off to fit what you do have! When I get a bouquet with long lasting flowers mixed with shorter lasting ones, I edit the bouquet as they wilt. Pull the wilted ones, trim the stems of the good ones, then move them to a shorter vase. Looks like a different bouquet a lot of times!

What kind of flowers do you like to get? That may help determine what shape and size to get. I love roses in a rose bowl and I’ve seen tulips look lovely in a vase made at just the right height for them. I prefer a shorter ( about 5”) oval planter with foam for hydrangeas. Do you like/buy larger arrangements? An 11” - 14” tall vase works well, but don’t get one too wide or it’ll be harder to style make the arrangement, unless you regularly use foam. I haven’t found a way to look nice n crystal vases. I’d also get a few smaller pieces as well. When my larger arrangements start dying off I remove the dead flowers and leaves and rearrange the remaining flowers in the small vases. One of my favorites for this is probably a very small clear pitcher. One of the things I use most frequently for medium sized arrangements in one of our large drinking glasses Great height and opening width and very plain so it works with everything. As to which style, that’s personal preference but I’d also try and match the type of flowers you lean towards. I think more formal arrangements look lovely in things like fine China teapots. I have a vase I love that I bought to coordinate in my craft room, but the size and colors don’t lend themselves to the types of flowers that are widely available in this region. You’ll want a selection so I would recommend the thrift store. Once you figure out which sizes you prefer you can always buy new if you don’t find a style you love.

I agree with checking out the thrift stores, garage sales, dollar store.
And buying pitchers instead of vases. Or small containers to put smaller arrangements in to spread around the house (bath room, kitchen, living room, bedroom). One bunch can go a long way.

I re-use the same vase over and over. I've had it for years. It's shorter(about four inches high) and square, I cut the flowers stems down to fit the size of the vase. I prefer a shorter vase instead of taller.
If I had to purchase a new vase, I would look at the dollar store.

Thrift stores have a good selection for cheap.
Home Goods/TJMAXX
Craft Stores
Mason Jars
You can also find a vintage piece, a basket, wood box, etc and sink a cheap recycled jar (pickles, jam, Mayo) inside and make something a vase that wasn’t a vase!!

I’m another that usually uses a pitcher. Or I’ll use a mason jar. I have a few vases, but reach for the pitchers most of the time. I trim the stems down and remove any leaves that will be underwater. Watch it the first day—sometimes they will drink a lot of water and you will want to refill the vase.
And there’s no shame in grocery store flowers. I find that they often last just as long as the ones from the florist.

I agree with the suggestions for sources. It really depends on what type of flowers and home many you are arranging. In general, look for vases that are heavier on the bottom. My most used ones are about 8-10" high. I also really love square or rectangular vases. Arrangements seem to stay put better than round vases.

I’ll add some every order or every other order and they really bring a smile to my face! Definitely a tradition I will keep up. Same with our shred pint of ice cream in bed in the early morning after DH gets home from curbside pick-up…you know, around 8 am on Saturdays.
