Thinking about Ice Cubes reminded me of my elementary school candy store. Mrs. Miller (4th grade) had a closet full of candy, and each class was allowed one trip to the candy store each week. I remember saving a dime out of my allowance for candy store day every week! Besides the Ice Cubes I mentioned above, we could buy: Cinnamon or grape cube lollipopsBB BatsCaramel creams (I still love those and get them for my theater candy when I go to the movies) Lemon HeadsBoston Baked BeansZotzSixletsJolly Ranchers...and many others I can't think of off the top of my head LOL. I'm pretty sure this one was a PTA fundraiser, but can you imagine a school candy store today? I know many of these candies still existed 8-10 years ago because they sometimes appeared in my kids' Halloween bags. Other than the caramel creams and Ice Cubes, I can't remember the last time I had any of these. Dollar Tree carries those nasty caramel creams. My nephew loves them despite my constant reminders that he is not a Grandma and entirely too young to eat them! Haha! Dollar Tree is my go to source for them. Our movie theater doesn't restrict outside food, so I buy them at DT.

Twinkies. The current recipe is disgusting. Just bought a box of Ding Dongs for the first time in at least 20 years. They no longer come wrapped in tinfoil!!!! BLASPHEMY!!! And they don’t taste great.

There used to be a boxed cake mix called a snack cake. Golden chocolate chip snd needed no frosting and only made a 8 by 8 pan.
Chocolate pudding cake. Two layers pudding in the bottom. It was actually thinner than real pudding I think. It was good.
Taco casserole mix
All if these were from the 70’s and total junk food but so good.
Oh screaming yellow zonkers were also good. I remember getting those when we went camping.

Thought of another. A few years ago maybe five nestle made these filled chocolate chips that were filled with cherry filling. My son loved them and it’s one if the few cookies he requests and there is nothing close. I have tried to recreate the taste but nope snd of course it’s a texture thing to. They have come out with a few other flavors - caramel filled, peppermint filled. I hope they have some good ones this year snd would be ecstatic if they brought back the cherry. .

If your purse is big enough, there are never restrictions on outside food at the movie theatre! 😂😂

Ice Cube chocolate candy. So smooth, creamy, and delicious! I'm sure they were called Ice Cube because of how well they melt in your mouth. Once in a blue moon a local pharmacy will have these at the cash register, and I always grab a few when I see them. They are kind of pricey online so I stick to the surprise local appearance LOL. I remember the first time I had an Ice Cubes. They were always at the register in a clear, round container, and they seemed so special and sophisticated with their foil wrapper. I wouldn’t buy one as a kid because they were so small, I’d rather have a larger candy bar, but then in junior high my friends mom brought them home for us as a treat. I’m sorry to say, I was so disappointed! It didn’t taste good at all, maybe because I had built it up in my mind.

My grandma's candy dish... especially Brach's coconut sundaes. Yes, they sell a sort of candy bar-ish version at the Old Tyme Candy store but it's not quite the same.

Fun! We used to get cookies (late 1970s or early 1980s) that were round, looked the color of a ginger snap, molasses tasting, maybe scalloped edges? They had a thin layer of white icing with black stripes. Archway still makes those!!! Archway Molasses Cookies

A very particular Iced Tea powder. Been gone for years. Maybe for the best as we were addicted to that stuff and really all that sugar isn’t so good for anyone. Now I like my iced tea real brewed with a hint of sweetness.

Howard Johnson frozen Toastees. Loved these as a kid - just popped them in the toaster! We have these here but they’re a different brand. We love them!

New Taterskins got baked potato appeal because they’re made with potatoes and skins that are real. Chedder cheese and bacon, sour cream and chive, tasty baked potatoes, you won’t believe your eyes. They’re made with potatoes and skins that are real, new Taterskins from Keebler, baked potato appeal!
It’s Taterskins, I miss Taterskins. Or maybe I just miss singing the jingle…

The Hershey's hot fudge in a can There was a fun thread about this..... I remember it very well. PeAple posted a lot of piks to determine if it was the same one. Lean Cuisine lasagne Verdi I'm intrigued! I love verdi anything! I doubt we had that one in the U.S., though, or I would have tried it for sure. Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken frozen Never tried that one, but it sounds good. Well, gar and gypsygirl.....we need to write to Stouffer's, because I reallllly miss their Lean Cuisine chicken cutlets with lasagne. The chicken was very thin, breaded, and SO yummy! My guy just looked at me today and remarked that he’d love a slice of that pizza they used to serve in grade school (w’re talking the 70’s). Yesss!!! The pizza at school (also in the 70's) was so yummy----I crave it often! Topped with orange "cheese" ( probably artificially-colored strands of chemicals ). I also miss the apple crisp and yellow cake from elementary school cafeteria! I've tried SO MANY recipes, but they just don't taste as yummy.

Drake's Cakes - especially Yodels. Yasss!!! Yodels, Devil Dogs, plus Tastykake Butterscotch crumpets! ---FUN beach memories with my little brother. When I moved away from the East coast, he'd mail boxes of them to me.

Entenmann's !!! They made/ still make ( ? ) a chocolate cake with marshmallow frosting that was to die for. I've even tried to get it shipped from their website, but they do not offer it. When my Dad still lived in D.C, he got one at Giant, then mailed it to me for my birthday one year. *I also crave their raspberry danish often! They do ship it, and I've been tempted many times!

My cats wanted me to post that they miss the breakfast flavors of canned Fancy Feast. They had egg, cheese, and greens with chicken or fish. Awww !! Tell your cats I hope they find something just as yummy! You made me think of our doggie, who DEFINITELY misses the many "Pupperoni" we fed him as a wee puppy when we were training him. They're still available, but once we realized how horri-bull they were for him, we switched him to healthy, grain-free treats.

Because of this thread, I googled discontinued South African products. I found out that South Africa was the only place where you could get (past tense, now discontinued) Creme Soda-flavoured Nesquick. It was green, loaded with sugar, and absolutely delicious. When I first moved to Australia I was surprised to find that lime was not a common milkshake flavour, where it is a standard flavour like strawberry and chocolate in South Africa. Okay, so maybe SA is weird for liking green milk.

There's plenty of stuff I love that I just don't eat any more since I'm old (and gluten hates me): bologna sandwiches on white bread with yellow mustard; hot dogs (I'll eat one occasionally) and all of the Drake's Cakes - especially Yodels. Oh boy. I’m right with you on these. My favorite lunch was a bologna sandwich, yodels and a small can of Hawaiian Punch. I also used to eat bowls full of cornflakes with nestles quik and sugar dumped in. No wonder I was falling asleep in school… Not exactly good training for a healthy lifestyle, but happy memories nonetheless.

I was just thinking of this one the other day, and I wish they bring back Jello 1-2-3 I also remember in the late 80’s going to the states and buying Keebler potato chips, they were so crispy and yummy. This came up for me recently and thought I'd link it for you Copy Kat Jello 1-2-3I just shared that with my DD, who has fond memories of Jello 1-2-3 from our nightly dinners in the early 90s.

So many from my childhood. Some may even be still in existence but since I discovered my food intolerances to milk, wheat and various other things, I wouldn't be able to have them now anyway.
Angel Delight and Instant Whip were dessert mixes made with milk. My favourites were raspberry, coffee and butterscotch. We had Findus Crispy frozen pancakes too. They were breaded and filled with savoury fillings like creamy mushroom chicken. Heinz Oxtail soup - just doesn't taste the same these days.
Also beef dripping toast with or without Marmite, or crumpets. These were Saturday evening tea-time foods we had sometimes. And the heel of the loaf spread with leftover mashed potato was a treat for Sunday tea after a roast dinner.

I love them and my kid does too, but she’s kind of an old lady in a kid’s body so there’s that, LOL. I really like that nougaty sugary white junk in the middle. What I hate about Dollar Tree is that the bags of candy there are so freaking small.

This is one of my favorite threads! Such a fun read. I really, really miss the Royal Lunch Crackers that came in a purple box. Purple is one of my favorite colors. I suspect that had a lot of influence on why I liked them! I also loved that the box opened horizontally. Then you lifted up the white liner paper to see two rows of crackers packed in white corrugated paper to protect them. So fancy! I felt like I was almost a grown up & so sophisticated when I got to eat them. Thanks for bringing back this memory!

Anyone remember General Foods International Coffees? I loved and felt so sophisticated having my afternoon Orange Cappuccino. I'd never pick it over my Nespresso now but know this was the drink that launched my love of cappuccinos and lattes. I always felt like a very fancy 8 year old when my mom would make me a cup of the GF coffee. I'm sure she just put a little in hot chocolate or something, but it always felt like a treat. I miss Kudos bars and Philadelphia cheesecake bars. I know my husband is always on the hunt for lime Gatorade. Lemon-lime just doesn't do it for him. He found just lime once and LOVED it. Haven't seen it since.

Mine is Post Blueberry Morning cereal. It was the best cereal ever. I tried the remake and it was gross. I miss the smell when I would first open the bag...blueberry was so strong and smells so good! I ate so much of that! Remember when you could send in proofs of purchase and get a blueberry dish towel? I must have had 6 or more of them.
