Today’s sketch comes from an Allison Davis YouTube video. I love this ombré layout she did! Sorry for the blurry pic- it’s a screen shot from her video. www.allisondavis4sg.com/post/scrapbooking-with-6-x-6-paper-pads-design-idea-4The twist is to make a monochromatic layout. One color! Here’s my take on it. I used my niece’s favorite color-pink! You do not need to be on a team to play, but if you ARE looking for points... Take TWO points for using the sketch. Take ONE point for taking on the monochromatic twist. Take a BONUS of FIVE points for doing BOTH on one project. Take an additional bonus of TWO points for using an ombré effect on your layout. Happy scrapping!

Oh boy, monochromatic is my enemy!!! But this is certainly a beautiful scraplift/page to try it on. Your hearts are beautiful, and a little less scary than those tiny stars!

I was thinking the stars were scary, too, but then I started to think those stars are cut out of the white cs with an electronic cutter and then the whole thing was overlaid on the ombré page?

I watched this video a while ago...and I remember her punching each star (some are double punched for the frame look) and HANDSTITCHING them! She was marketing 6x6 pads of cardstock that came in the lovely ombre shades.

Yes Allison punched all those tiny hearts! I love the idea of cutting it out of the background and layering it with a paper behind. I love the creativity on this forum!

@schromema, thanks so much for the sketch! I enjoyed your layout with all those pretty hearts, all lined up. And such a special moment. This is one of my favorites so far - I had fun doing my layout.

If I try hard enough, I'll figure out how to cut the background and layer it using my Cricut, right? I finally figured out the auto-fill - now to get the paper lined up in the right direction...8.5x11 seems to make it trickier.
Cutting my 3rd attempt now...it'll be the charm, right?
I've only had my Cricut for how long? 10 years...and I'm still figuring it out...

Loving the blues and greens jjpeapea and Linda used! I went the other way and used RED. Kinda not much like the sample but it is a bit monochromatic! I think it needs something "else" to jazz it up but not sure what. Back at work and it's seriously cutting into my scrapping time!

MDscrapaholic- I think it looks fabulous as is but if you feel it needs something else...maybe a mortarboard die cut?

That worked out beautifully, Linda . With your Cricut can you save cut files for later use? No wonder you are happy with your princess page, jjpeapea ! So pretty. Don’t think your page needs to be jazzed up, MDscrapaholic. Love the impact of the repeated title in darker and darker red, and it really highlights the blues in the centre.

Yes - I bought my Cricut just BEFORE Provocraft got the injunction against third party software so I have SCAL for it. I've never actually used a Cricut cartridge - not sure how to be honest. I have a few that came with the machine. angel97701 -thank you

Sketchtember 7 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr Cute sketch, and I am happy with my page! I don’t know if it counts as monochromatic because of the greenish stripes, and its definitely not ombré. I used the dcwv playful pets 6x6 pad from Joann.

So many options with this sketch / scraplift! I decided to do a background using digital dabbed stamps and outlines, although I'd love to do another one using die cut hearts or stars.

schroema I love your ombre hearts layered on a patterned background, so pretty indeed! jjpeapea this is such a lovely take, I really like the soft colours in your circles that work so beautifully with that photo. Linda cute page! Your gnome garden is sweet and I love your shades of green. MDscrapaholic I love this take on the sketch! I wouldn't have thought to use the text but I love it.

Linda that turned out fabulous! The green hearts are perfect for your garden layout! MDscrapaholic I love how you used the title as the repeated element. It’s really stunning. I think I’m going to scrap lift it. scrappyrabbit love it! I’d definitely say it’s monochromatic, the green is so small. AussieMeg I love the stamped affect! Such a bright happy layout!

Repeated squares not as tiny as on the example, but I wanted quilt squares. I used Oxides to create an ombre effect on a sheet of VB foundations cs, then cut the squares with dies. Hope I recreated the ombre with their placement. Worked hard to keep this page monochrome:
POINTS: one page created & shared (2). SKETCHtember sketch (2), twist (1) and bonus (5). R-3 three photos (3) and one page (5) for the Donna challenge, P-2 two fonts (2), S/I-2 two rectangular photos (2), S/I-4 hearts & stars (1), C/M-1 blue (1), T-1 two dies (2), T-8 faux stitching (1), N/S-4 one small photo (1). Total: 28

schroema, thank you for the sketch. I really like the way you used the ombre hearts for your background.. The patterned paper was perfect behind the hearts. Such sweet photos of your DD. jjpeapea, I love your beautiful layout. The blue is perfect with her blue dress. I love the photo of the tiara too. She looks like a princess. Simply beautiful and elegant. Linda, what a cute page. I love your garden gnomes and the scrapbook one you added. The bright greens are beautiful with the greenery in your photos. I think this is one of my favorites of your pages. Totally cute, and I love the variety in greens. MDscrapaholic, what a classy page, no pun intended! I love the way you have repeated the title down the page. What a great looking young man. I love, love, love this. Very artistic. scrappyrabbit, AussieMeg, and grammadee, you have love in the gallery. Here is mine. I kept it monochromatic but couldn't resist a touch of red. I hope that still counts. Baby of Mine

linda cute gnomes. Any day I can use my Cricut is a fun day! I was having trouble with a topic for Sketchtember 9 but I kind of got inspired by you to do a garden theme. MDscrapaholic Oh wow for the stars and repeated title. My what a handsome young man. scrappyrabbit lovely patterns in your repeated hearts. Cute doggie, what a cute story. AussieMeg very pretty, using the colors in the colorful dessert. I like the stamped circle effect. I would love to see your die cut hearts effect if you decide to experiment. grammadee , using the sketch to create a quilted effect for a quilting story? Genius! Love the soft color and tones. nylene well that's just adorable with the adorable elephants and yep, the balloon had to be red, that's all there is to it. But the baby is the most adorable of all.

After a fight with my cameo I had to modify my plan slightly (I had planned to do a background like in the sample, with a centred design, instead my cameo decided to shift the whole design to one side - thanks technology) but I love how this turned out, so at least it had a happy ending.

I went monochromatic as long as I could but couldn't resist the colourful title and then had to add some red to balance that out! I made so many of the die cut trees for this, and then ended up just using the outline, and fewer trees, because the size of the trees overwhelmed the photo. layout and an orange kitten in a pine tree by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Chinagirl828 oh my I had a fight with the Cricut this morning. I tripped over the cord and when I restarted a red light was flashing. I was starting to panic but I just shut the machine off and exited the software and started from scratch. *Whew* Awww Loretta is so cute and she is very well taken care of, I see. I love your pretty layout with all the hearts. kitbop your excellent choice paid off, your trees look great without being overwhelming. That's adorable, the kitten in the tree. I must be on a blue/green kick because I LOVE the colors in your page.

Here are two pages following the sketch. Not sure if either are considered monochromatic, will someone let me know so I count the points correctly? Remember my photos are temporary photos printed on copy paper as I create the page first and then order the photos.
