This is nuts. On both sides. As someone upthread stated "people have lost their freaking minds."
I feel like I'm going to be in a little minority, but would y'all have really stuck around to continue to give the unmasked cougher a hard time? I mean, you can't reason with that. I'd just walk away. And if she followed me throughout the store as the caption states, I'd leave.
We ALL need to take responsibility for our behaviours, no matter how "in the right" we are.
ETA: oh and the cougher being fired? Karma at it's finest.

I'm so tempted to ask my friend who worked for SAP for a dozen or more years if she knows her. I do think this should be a wake up call for those who continue to think anti-vaxxers and Trumpers are uneducated/stupid rednecks. The women is a lawyer. She's been a professional at SAP and other tech companies for decades. I haven't a clue why these people are suddenly anti-science - ffs she studied engineering at the Air Force Academy. I absolutely agree that people have lost their minds.

There have been opinion pieces written over the years about the danger of allowing one of the largest evangelical churches and political lobbying groups have a foothold in a military academy that trains Americaās future military leaders. I am completely NOT surprised that she is a USAFA grad. |

It has a pretty healthy anti-vax crowd, but that really doesn't explain this woman. We keep hearing the caricature of the anti-maskers. I found this woman interesting as it breaks so many of the stereotypes. I'm sure it was particularly interesting to me as one of my very good friends was at SAP for a long time. It's just hard to reconcile how she went so very far off the rails. |

Actually, the overwhelming majority of classes for an engineering degree at USAFA are in mathematics and physics, with a *much* smaller number of science courses where the experimental method is taught. I knew a large number of creationist cadets who didnāt really believe in science above the Bible. š¤·āāļø If she didnāt finish USAFA, then there was something amiss with her even back then. I donāt know why she left, if she did, but it isnāt typical. She went off some rails, even back then, if she didnāt finish out her 4 years. Granted, making it through a military academy isnāt for everyone, and if you choose to leave that is fine, but it isnāt usual. Depending on when you leave and under what circumstances, they may try to recoup the money they spent on your education (20 years ago, it was $85K per year). |
