Just yesterday, I was going for my daily walk in the large park that is near my apartment. Just walking along, airpods in, looking at trees, when a couple of dogs ahead of me on the path started barking at each other, then ran into the stream. I watched them, as I prefer not to get too near to barking dogs, and then I saw it - a man on the other side of the stream, just standing there in all his glory! Not doing anything much, just eating an ice cream. When we were in Munich, we decided to stroll through the English (Englisher?) garden. We saw several couples and in many cases, one was nude and the other clothed. We wondered if there was an ordinance that said 2 could not be nude at the same time. We also saw one man, age 60+, standing 100% nude and posing for the audience. He struck more than one pose. Then we saw a teenage boy, who must have lost a bet. He was nude, but sitting all scrunched down and casually trying to cover himself, yet willingly sitting by the path totally nude.

I thought about this last night while cooking dinner (the man's behavior) and it reminded me of a season of Survivor when Russel Hantz's nephew Brandon was on-South Pacific-season 23. He described himself as a born-again Christian and a man of God. Within the first couple of days he kept staring at a female member of this tribe Mikayla (he was married) and instead of blaming himself for struggling with temptation and his own thoughts, he conspired to vote this innocent young woman out. She was athletic and there was absolutely no reason to vote her out of their tribe at that early part of the game-when it makes more sense to keep your stronger players. Luckily no one listened to him.
It's the same idea though-blame women for your (men's) inability to control your sexual thoughts and desires. It's NOT the innocent women's fault! It's your (men's) responsibility to keep your own desires under control. And by the way this has nothing to do with religion or controlling women! Get your own f*cking thoughts and desires under control.

While they were interested at first, they just kind of handled it well and never made a big deal about it on the beach. Some really beautiful 20 somethings were playing frisbee in the water right along side them as the floated in tubes. By the time they were in junior high and high school, it was the norm and I was glad boobs and butt cheeks were just summer attire. The only physical reaction my youngest had to nudity was when we walked on a beach that had a Hedonism hotel. I think my kid was 13-14 and he saw his first really old dude out in all his glory. Out of the side of my eye, I could see him do a double take. I just laughed and told him that is what he had to look forward to. |

In many countries in Europe they don't have the same hang ups we do here in the USA about nude bodies. To us here in the USA a nude body or nude parts=sex. In those European countries a nude body=a nude body. It has nothing to do with sex. We have close family friends who are Dutch. They used to live across the street from my parents, and while they lived there 2 children were born to the family-my parents, especially my father became like their substitute grandparents. When the kids were 5 and 3 they moved back to Holland. Many tears were shed when that happened. I also became close to the kids when they lived here. Over the next few years my father and I made a few trips to Holland and spent time while there taking the kids out for day trips. One of the trips was to a hands on science museum. When we brought the kids back that evening we told the parents how much fun we all had, but that we'd kept the kids away from the sexual health exhibit-we thought that'd be what the parents would want with such young children. They said, "Why? We take them through there all of the time. They love it." Completely different outlook about teaching young children about the human body. |

I still cannot show my bare arms in public. I get nervous when wearing shorts above my knees. Yet, I'm still proud I've made that step to wear them for all to see. The years I was actually skinny and would have looked amazing in something with strings, I just couldn't because...religion. I do take some solace that my daughter wears whatever the hell she wants. Maybe it's the Autism, but I'm going to take credit anyway.  |

That's where I was, the English Gardens (Englischergarten in German), but in the northern section, well away from the part where tourists tend to wander. It is not as heavily trafficked, mostly locals walking their dogs, people from the nearby riding school and a few joggers and walkers. It's about a 5-6 minute walk from my apartment to get there, and then I have so many possibilities to walk for as long as I like. I know the bolded bit was a joke, but as far as I know, there is no rule about how many nude people can be in one group! Though, I have noticed the same thing about it often being only one of a couple nude. I was shocked the first time I saw someone nude (an older gentleman who was playing frisbee!  ), but now it is just something that happens from time to time. I probably wouldn't even have noticed him if it weren't for the dogs running into the stream right near him. |

Reminds me of one of the times we went to France, took a trip to the beach, all the non French kids were covered with hats, sunblock, swimsuits with sf50 material etc etc. The French kids not so much. I took my kid, really young, for a walk along the beach, skipping over the incoming waves. We walked pretty much to the other end of a longish beach. Noticed a chap standing ankle deep in the water with his back to us, was trying to figured out what seemed odd, then realised I could see all of his behind, no coverage, that end of the beach was nudist!! My ex DH and I took many holidays in France and Spain, we always chose to sit at the quieter ends of the beaches to keep away from the crowds. The amount of times we said “oops, we’ve picked the nudist side of the beach again”!  Also what is it with nudists playing frisbee, it seems to be their sport! |
