They’re never going to get it. Children dying doesn’t phase the gun nuts and it won’t stop the anti-vaxxers.
I just returned from a Covid-death funeral of a 46 year old. Less than half the attendees were masked. None of the family was. (I sat at the back, masked, and didn’t mingle). I’m angry at my friend for being so stupid and angry at his family for not learning anything from his death.

And now an infant lost in Dallas County. linkWhat is terrifying is all those charts showing hospitalization levels back at almost as high as in January, before vaccines were available to the general public, in county after county in Texas.

I hope the little girl didn't infect any of her classmates before she was quarantined at home with the rest of the family. Poor thing. She didn't get a say in this. She was the direct victim of her parents' decisions and beliefs.

This is so scary to read as a parent. But I am forcing myself to not just yank my 11 year old out of school. I've started trying to find little things that make me feel better. I read that on average 200 kids die from flu per year and last year there was only one flu death. So I felt better somehow that maybe less kids died from that even though more than I want to think about died from covid. Also my kids always wear their seat belts and don't have access to firearms in the home. So somehow that comforts my mom heart. It's just so sad to lose any kid and imagine how bad that family must feel. But as parents we face the threat of mortality of our dear ones all the time and thank goodness it is a lot better than it used to be. Also I'm pretending the vaccine will be authorized for kids soon, like by the end of September. On very little evidence. Yes, I am using Pollyanna thinking. It popped up in my Reuters notifications that it may be as soon as October! I saw yesterday on Facebook that the BioNtech team believe they will have everything ready in 3-4 weeks to apply for authorization of a vaccine for ages 6 and up (I think - it may have been 5).

The comments are appalling. People seriously should be ashamed of themselves. Never read the comments section without a drink in your hand. Lots of “doctors” and med pros in that comment section!!!
