I've been reading a ton of news articles about the current and impending supply chain issues. I don't want to set off some sort of panic-buying spree around here, but I am curious if you either have experienced delays or are involved in any industries where you have current delays or future delays projected (all of the publishers I follow, eg, are predicting delays on winter books).
I've noticed both that my clothing orders have taken longer than expected (a few took two to three months) and that some of the online retailers who normally have fall clothes in early August are just now rolling out fall clothes (and still have their summer clothes up, not on sale, on their websites, with more limited fall offerings than normal). Any other delays you've noticed or know about?

I went to grocery store today and could see nothing absent, in fact everything seemed overflowing.
I am waiting for a pair of prescription sunglasses. It usually taken 2 weeks but I called after 5 weeks and they said they hope they will be in next week, so something might be held up there. I didn't ask.

There is currently a nationwide paper shortage, exacerbated by the pandemic, which is affecting all sorts of things from books to envelopes, and everything in between. Othee than that, I currently have not experienced shortgages, but I'm not really buying much of anything these days. Bummer to hear about the delay in your eyeglasses fredfreddy44, and thanks for the head's up. I had my eyes examined a few weeks ago and desperately need new glasses. I need to get on that.

Two books I been waiting for to hit the shelves were right on time.
Today I stopped at Chick-Fil-A and they were OUT OF CFA sauce!! The horror!! haha... and the gal was telling me they can't get in enough nuggets, they usually run out before the end of the night.

I think items that are coming by boat from Asia are being delayed the most. Have you heard about all the cargo ships that are waiting off the coast of California to be offloaded? I think there are 55 ships out there right now. I know we have been looking for patio furniture all summer. Bits and pieces come in and get sold out right away. Or, some stores there is about a 3 month wait for furniture pieces. I haven't seen any food item shortages.

A lot of things that come from overseas are the cause of some of the shortages. I read something (sorry, no source...) that some of the stores expect to not be able to get the products, because the products/materials can't get to the states. If it's made or warehoused or sourced overseas, it could be a struggle to meet demand. Just like whatever computer chip is needed for all the automakers can't get here, so there aren't vehicles to buy because they can't make very many.

I have noticed that a lot of places are having a tough time keeping an adequate amount of Topo Chico in stock. Also, I couldn't get Gatorade a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if that has resolved itself. I couldn't care less about the Gatarade, but I gotta have my Topo chico!

I have some items that have been backordered for the whole company for months- we manufacture the product here but the packaging materials come from Italy so we have product and no bottles. I'm dreading potentially having to order new furniture, I hear it's taking FOREVER.

I buy a lot of iPads for work and there are almost none to be had now except for some overpriced ones on eBay and those are limited as well.

My car has been in the shop now for two months with no ETA on when the parts will be available. So there’s that.

We were initially told a replacement umbrella (just the cloth) for the patio, ordered in May, would be here in July. I'm hoping it is sitting offshore waiting to unload. I know DH (electrical contractor) has run into supply problems for parts/fixtures, especially LEDs.

I stopped into a Jack in the Box a few weeks ago on my way home from running an errand. I was craving a chicken sandwich. They had zero chicken of any type. I don't eat beef so I ended up just getting a drink. I don't know the reason for their lack of chicken products.

I took some of my kids for well checks last week and the NP mentioned that they were waiting on shipments of polio and MMR vaccines. That terrifies me for MMR.

The non profit I work for hosts a remembrance walk each year. We have around 3,000 t shirts. We have two shirts--one white and one in whatever our color is for the parents who have lost a baby. This year, our supplier told us he wouldn't be able to get all the white shirts we needed in all the sizes, so we decided on gray. But we couldn't get those either, so we had to choose something else. We have been doing this walk since 2004 and have never had issues with getting a shirt.
We also found out that the shipping is way behind, so we are going to be cutting it close to even get them by the time we need to ship them out to virtual walkers in time for our event. The company said these shortages and delays are due to Covid.

Here in my area of California, there have been certain products out or extremely low stock for some time. That includes:
Specific chips (Simply)
Specific water brands
Gatorade and Poweraide
Bottled ice teas - all brands
Bottled coffees - all brands
Vans waffles
Certain organic produce (varies by store)
Tissues, Toilet Paper, Paper towels (gone down to very low stock until recently)
Certain cuts of chicken have been hard to find (mainly wings)
Certain canned items (varies by store)
Sodas have gaps in the isle
Certain dry McCormick spices
Zero Libbys Pumpkin - both sizes and both pure puree and pumpkin pie filling
Very low stock on other baking compotes
Certain GF flours were out until recently
Juices - hasn't been any Martinelli's for some time as well as other brands/flavors
Salsas are hit and miss
Sauces/condiments are hit and miss
Paper plates/plastic utensils are very low to out
Dish soaps are running low stock
That is all I can remember for now.

I understand furniture is still an issue.
In medicine, we have been facing constant revolving shortages in everything from various PPE items to various medications,

We had a five month wait for a new oven when ours broke back in February. I'm told it is getting better but there are still delays.
There is also a chip shortage which has affected things like new vehicles as well as computers and cell phones. We also had a longer wait than normal for a replacement pump for our hot tub.
I was in Winners and Homesense last week for the first time in ages and the shelves were pretty bare.

Furniture is bad. I ordered recliners in May. We may have them by end of November/Christmas!
We've ordered a love seat, kitchen table too. No delivery date.

I don't use all those products but have been keeping mental notes.
I was able to find Libby's pumpkin puree at Target. I bought 2 and had dh pick up 2 more at a Target near his work. I already had 2 on hand. So that gives me 3 to use through fall, 1 on hand for my mom (gave her one last year too) and 2 to have put away for holiday pies.
I also recently stocked up on canned jellied cranberry sauce for the holidays, some spices/herbs, sugar, GF flours, and canned items used for holiday meals.
When I say stocked up, I got what I need for 3 holiday meals and have them put away. They will be used for those meals.
I did that last year and it served me well.

Lots of delays and shortages, all across the board.
Currently waiting on new slipcovers and cushion inserts for my chair and sofa. Last time I ordered it took 4 weeks. Supposedly they will arrive in town next Thurs. - 12 weeks after I ordered them.
New patio sliders from Marvin. Ordered June 14, ship date has now been pushed back to Oct. 1. Who knows if it will really ship then. Two new garage doors ordered June 14 as well. Was supposed to have shipped Aug. 23. No word to date on them. We are wanting to do an update on one wall of the kitchen that will involve new ovens and fridge. Holding off for now until things sort themselves out.
Fall clothes - selections in the stores seem to be less than in years past. Local Talbots appears to have removed some rounders from the floor as the space between them is much larger. Some new fall things in but not all. I asked if they are getting more and was told they have things coming, but lots of back orders and delays. So for now I grab something here and there when I see it. I've lost weight and really need some new things for fall!
We tend to buy several French brands of food and it's been hit & miss all year. Right now it's like looking for a needle in the haystack to find Evian. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't. It's been the same with things like butter, Bonne Maman, cheeses (and not just French cheeses).
It's really a gamble when grocery shopping these days as to what will be in stock and what brands.

An article came out that toy shelves will be low to bare due to shipping issues. So keep that in mind. We will finish next month for the kids. We usually finish early November. Already have 2 items for ds.

We had to wait a month for the washer & dryer we bought this summer.
And just last week my youngest wanted to go to a local Dollar Tree to see what spooky stuff they had----and they had virtually nothing--spooky or otherwise! I had put together a quick list to look for including staples like masking tape, scotch tape, etc. and there was no tape--at all. And many of the other aisles looked emptier than I've ever seen them. Of course, Dollar Tree involves a whole lot of imported items from Asia, and as mentioned earlier, we know that's a problem right now.
When I tried to order all kid clothes this weekend, I felt like I was seeing less options than usual than usual. I don't know if that's a supply issue or just a "We're wiped out after back-to-school time" issue or a "kids were excited to be actually in school this year and bought more than usual" issue. But this is the same time of year I typically buy clothing for my kids, and I don't recall ever feeling like choices were as limited before.

Some of the answers here are cracking me up.
The only true shortage of a big ticket items I've heard of is cars. My Subaru dealer has been emailing to ask if I want to sell my one-year-old car as they cannot keep enough inventory.

Appliances are hard to come by if there are specific ones you want. Some times waiting for months. Yes, this and the furniture issues (I was quoted an 8 month lead time on a piece I want) are one of several reasons that I'm holding off on my remodel. In the meantime, the housing market has slowed down here (and I'll bet will continue to do so), so I'm back to considering getting into the house-hunting market again (I gave it up late this past winter because of all the craziness).

Appliances still have a long long wait.
DH's warehouse ran out of BOXES last week. As in, your order is picked and ready to he packed, but no boxes available. IP was behind on shipping them.

Oh, and DH had trouble finding flour two weeks ago. He had only one choice in unbleached in a store that typically stocks several brands. But that was the only thing he had an issue with.
