I'm having a nice relaxing wkend at home. It's chilly, and windy here. I went and got groceries today, and a target run, and I couldn't believe how crazy town was, and how out of stock things were. There was no cat food, low TP. and of course every play was short staffed. Tonight we went out and had a nice dinner, and now we are home chilling. I'm playing online. I'm not looking forward to it getting colder and darker out. blech. What has everyone else been up too?

I went to Soda City Market (an outdoor market that sets up downtown on our Main Street) this morning with a friend. Bought some candles and a framed print of a Fleetwood Mac concert poster for my daughter’s room. Relaxed for the rest of the day and did a little laundry. Enjoyed watching NC State beat Clemson, and now I’m watching the South Carolina/Kentucky game.

watching the giants baseball game, starting dinner in a bit--stirfry, then dh will listen to his radio show 10-12. it is on a public station and after years and years of being a 4 hour show, they cut this guy to 2 hours and are dissing the host because (I am sure) he is an old white guy. he plays the most amazing selection of roots music and international music.. with lots of information, lots of connections to artists.. so it is sort of a sad situation.
the weather is back to cool and foggy.. so back to tea weather!!1

Company’s gone and I just finished cleaning the kitchen. I made my first Beef Wellington for dinner tonight. It was an all-afternoon project with all the preparation and having to chill parts in the refrigerator between assembly steps… but oh so worth it. My family and guests raved over it. I really love to cook, but I love it even more when those eating it are so happy about it!

I spent today putting polyurethane on the kitchen cabinets. DD and I put 2 coats on tue cabinets frames while DH stained some of the doors and put poly on the drawers.
Tomorrow we will be able to put new hardware on the drawers and some of the drawers and I will finally be able to start putting my kitchen back together. Woot woot!
Still have a long way before it is completely done, but getting closer with each thing crossed off the list.
The new light for over the table came in on Friday and can't wait to get it installed. DH and i managed to come to an agreement on it very easily. Bonus!

I dried my clean laundry for a second time. Oh dear. It was all clean. I cannot believe today I did next to nothing but had coffee with BFF here and we did makeup. That was fun.

Spongemom Scrappants there is a restaurant in the West Village, NYC called One if By Land, Two if by Sea. They make the best beef Wellington. If you are in NYC, try it sometime. Yours sounds delicious. We went to see a friend’s band play at an outdoor venue today. It was a beautiful fall day, perfect to be outside. Then we went to dinner with friends and sat outside near a pretty golf course. I kept an eye out for golf balls gone wild. We also went to meet a black lab that I think we are going to adopt. Excited.

Spent the morning cleaning and picking up. Watched Queen Bees (DVD I borrowed from the library) snd then Bob Newhart on Hulu. Made some Halloween cupcakes (bought this topping mix with mini marshmallows and sprinkles in different shapes) determined to try and add more fun to our lives. Decorated a little bit for fall.
Tonight I plan to just read a book and with Bob Newhart in the background. Nothing exciting but not complaining it’s nice to have a weekend without a lot of stuff to do.

Somehow my TV has been taken over by the guys of the house so I'm watching UFC for the first time ever. They are drinking beer which I didn't feel like until I found a ginger ale in the garage and made myself a shandy.
Because I'm really not into the fights, I wandered over here to see what is going on.

I got rear ended Saturday night...grrrr...and he hit me so hard I got pushed into the car in front of me. Luckily I only tapped the guy in front of me, so no damage to the front bumper, but there is a bit to the rear.
The guy's air bags deployed and the lady (?his mom?) seemed really shaken up. Now I have a message on my car that I need to have my air bags checked even though they did not deploy. I guess I know what I will be doing next Saturday...
