Welcome to October - already?! MARIBETHR , grammadee , schroema , azcrafty , natscraps , snow4197 , scrappyrabbit , gmcwife1 , Chinagirl828 , angel97701, Ryann , tc This is our spot to chit chat, ask questions, etc. Anyone is welcome to set challenges and you earn points for doing so! Set a challenge that will earn you points for things you were planning for the month anyway! Anyone taking part in the Crop and Create weekend? I'm having a little FOMO about not signing up and I'm not even a card maker lol. If so, what do you think of it so far? I will be continuing on with the Sketchtember sketches. I did not get many of those done, and the sketches are all so great. Do you have any goals for the month? There is a 2peas online crop later today if anyone is interested, it's a great way for me to stay focused on scrapping (and not the million other things that need doing) Stop in to craft, or even just say hi, it's fun to meet new peas. Here's to a fresh new month of scrapping!

Hello team!
I can't believe how fast Sept went by. I'm planning to work through the last few sketches from sketchtember, although there is no way I'll get them all done by the 4th. I'm also looking forward to getting back to my PL album which has been ignored for the last month, I'm itching to work on some pocket pages again.
Today we started daylight savings so I'm struggling with the time change already. I had the headache from hell yesterday and spent the whole day in bed so I really feel like my weekend is just speeding by. On the plus side, today is beautiful spring weather, so although I'd love to sit and scrap, I'm going to head and work in the garden for a while.

Chinagirl828 I'm sorry you had to spend Saturday in bed. We will be coming out daylight savings soon and I can't wait. I feel better on standard time. But I wish they would just pick one and leave it. When the weather is nice it's so hard to balance enjoying it with scrapping. That's probably one of the big reasons I look forward to January lol. Today is laundry and I'm not sure what else. I should probably start my sketch sample for the end of the month. Anyone doing anything scrappy or crafty today? ETA: Ryann it was good to 'see' you yesterday! And thanks for the tip on the magic mat. I have one in my cart now lol.

Hello Joyful's! Is anyone playing along with CARDtober? Haven't created any cards yet, but I am loving the samples and hoping to start Christmas cards this month, so... Sorry your weekend got away on you Chinagirl828 . Hope you are feeling better though. I often get headaches in the spring and fall when the angle of light seems to "get to" me. I too hate Daylight Savings Time. Can hardly wait to get my hour back when we finally make the switch later this month. And I hate the switches. It feels like a whole population put on jet lag twice a year. I live less than 25 miles from Saskatchewan, which keeps the same time all year, and I sometimes think that alone would be worth the move... I still have about half the September sketches to work through. I have a crop near the end of the month, so if all else fails, I can take them with me to that. Maybe pack them into some page kits with my photos. Here's to a good month for everyone!

I also scrap less in the nicer weather, so my scrapping will slow down until we get to the peak of summer when I'll be hiding out in my room with the air con running, but unlike you I prefer daylight savings time. I think because we don't get the really long nights of sunshine like I remember from my travels in the UK or Russia. Even with daylight savings it is dark by 9pm on those days of longest sunlight, and these days I'm not much of a morning person so I'd rather have that extra light at the end of the day. But I agree with the changing from normal to DST, I woke up ok yesterday but today I did my first two meetings in my pj's because I just could not wake up in time for them (thank goodness we're a cameras off business!).

Hello all Joyfuls! Can hardly believe it is September. COVID seems to have made time warp even more than normal. Standard time is coming soon here in North America. I like it because it is "fall back" and we get another hour, but my sleep patterns are super disrupted so I will probably still wake up at 0'dark thirty! I stopped in for awhile during the crop on Saturday. It's great to see new faces. If you've not checked one out before I highly recommend it.
My DSD was here for a few days, as typical not necessarily a pleasant time as she always finds a way to criticize or judge me in some way. I ignore her when she is like that, but it still gets under my skin especially when she says things to DS15. She went home yesterday.
Weather is changing to very fall like here, and my tomatoes are covered, we will have hard frosts by the end of the week, so I'm not sure if I want another layer over the existing plants or if I want to pull them up and hang them in the shop. I have some very large tomatoes that are still green and hope to ripen on the vine because they taste so much better! Still have kale growing in the raised beds, as well as carrots and few more potatoes to harvest. I have tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumbers in my greenhouse. Will need to start peas, as they did really well last winter in the greenhouse. Harvest baby greens every few days, yummy!
I got 25 of 30 sketches done for Sketchtember . . . and got burned out! Cardtober, we will see how may I try. I think I will adapt what I can to Christmas cards. In years past I made all the same, but now I have a stash of about 30 already made, and want to add to the stash. #3 will be easy, and I guess I can make a Christmas box card to #2, a spring scene, maybe a masculine birthday card? I did make a 4 Halloween cards yesterday, they will be posted as a Guest Designer for Imagine. I will share here when they get published.
Chinagirl828 sorry the weather and time change is getting to you! I've been a little fatigued recently, working on fixing that! grammadee you've been busy, not only scrapping but also with gramma duties! joyfulnana We will see how crop and create rates, I'm not sure I wanted to spend that money when I have SO MUCH STUFF already! FOMO or not! LOL
I'm working today for a teacher I KNOW, the only sub jobs I am taking now. Plus I can use a classroom computer. The students in her 1st period are super quiet and doing what they are supposed to do. That is why I will work for her.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Chinagirl828 we don't use video either and working from home for 6 years now I don't always dress for work. I usually get dressed, but nothing I would wear into the office. For the longest time Friday was PJ's until lunch for me. Like casual Friday lol. With daylight savings here in MO where I am, we have light until about 9PM. I do enjoy that, but man my body likes standard time lol. No Cardtober for me, I have my hands full with last months sketches and the sample I need for this month lol. angel97701 I'm sorry about DSD, but happy you drew a boundary about who you would sub for. You've had plenty of stress already this year! I believe gramma may be setting up a Friday night crop if anyone is interested. I know that clashes with VB's Friday Night Lives. Does anyone join in on those? They pop up in my feed each week and I'm never in the right mood. I tell myself I will check out the replay and then promptly forget until the next Friday when it pops up in my feed. She looks like a great teacher and I have my share of her products lol.

Hey Joyful scrappers! I haven't scrapped or made anything this month so far.... but I have a really good reason. I just adopted a dog this weekend! He is the cutest little thing, about a 3 year old poodle mix. So I am sure many doggy layouts to come soon!

scrappyrabbit that's a great reason to not be scrapping. I look forward to seeing doggy pictures and pages galore! Anyone have scrappy plans this weekend? Tomorrow is meant to be near perfect spring weather but we have a cool change for Sunday so I'm sure I'll spend some time at my desk then, and I might play a little tonight as well. I'm still working my way through the last of the sketchtember sketches and would like to get at least one more done this weekend.

With work this week, and spending most of Wednesday putting away garden stuff and cleaning a barn room, I'm wiped out! We are to the hard overnight frost stage, and I still have lots of tomatoes on the vine. They are double covered so just maybe? But the rest of the garden hoses, and drip lines are put away for the winter. The DH said something about cleaning out the barn room. We have a mice/rat problem, and they've not been cleaned in awhile. What was to be a 30 minute job turned into 3 hours, hands & knees, filthy afterwards job. Kind of over did it: wrists, back, foot (bunion), knees bruised, are all complaining. But it is much cleaner and organized. Which means I've not even started on my books organization project. DS is doing better later on this week. One day restriction from riding his bike to school . . . he hates riding the bus because he is the first picked up and then doesn't get to school for 25+ minutes. He'd rather ride with warm clothes on than ride the bus around.
No scrapping but have done 3 card challenges, but I'm making all mine Christmas cards, so they will be ready for December. I'm about 1/2 way to my total goal. Hopefully I will get to spend some time in my craft room this weekend. Less work next week, so far only 1.5 days scheduled and will probably keep it at that as the following week I have 4 days on the calendar.

Anyone have scrappy plans this weekend? I have plans to FaceTime with my crafty BFF on Saturday, so I hope to get some things done! Yesterday I spent hours playing with stencils & distress oxide inks. I'm well on my way to having my personal Christmas cards done. I hope to at least have the stenciling part completely finished by tomorrow. Then I can use a stamping platform to place the sentiments another day. Once it's all done I will share and collect my points!

I hope everyone got some scrapping time over the weekend. I've managed to finish some more of the sketchtember sketches, and now only have three left to do. I'm struggling to find photos that are a good fit for the remaining sketches, although I have an idea for one of them but need to take some photos first.
How is Oct shaping up for everyone else?

Yesterday I spent hours playing with stencils & distress oxide inks. I have bought more stencils and ink this year than ever before. Now I have to play around with them. There's just something about getting inky and messy, I love it. angel97701 I hope you can take some time for yourself. You always have so much going on. It's strange to me that you are having hard freezes overnight, when it was 90 and Sunny here on Saturday. It's cooled off now and I think *maybe* fingers crossed, it's finally fall for real lol. I did not get any scrapping in over the weekend, and this weekend is not looking too promising either. I still have to get a sketch chosen for my sketchy Saturday. I'm hoping to get some scrapping in during the week. I have several of the Sketchember sketches on deck. How do you scrap the holidays? I have tried JYC a couple of times, but haven't finished. I usually just do a couple of 12x12 spreads. I've been lurking on the December mega thread and I'm fired up for a December album this year - hopefully lol. I have a sticker book in a cart that I haven't hit buy on. That will help round out the massive Christmas supplies I have. I really don't need more. But then I saw Cocoa Vanilla's Joyful line and I'm having a hard time passing on that one.

How do you scrap the holidays? I do a DD every year, and have since 2009. It is by far my favourite project. I do a mix of DD and JYC, often using the JYC prompts to tell my daily story. And I'm not going to be any support to you on the Cocoa Vanilla line, I fell in love with it when I first saw it thanks to all the cute little critters and I've pre-ordered a lot of it. I'm planning to mix it with b&w papers to make my homemade kit this year.

No paper crafting done this past weekend, or today, except for diecutting some shapes for card fronts. Hoping to have a small kit put together by Sunday for a couple of mornings card making in our hotel room while dh has medical appointments next week. Printing Sketchy Saturdays to add to my leftover SKETCHtember sketches to go with me to a crop the following weekend.
Off to check out CV Joyful... I had promised myself that since I am signed up for two SCT craft weekends in November, and they are famous for sending out a huge kit for each, that except for the SU! order placed last month that I have already received I would NOT buy any additional Christmas card supplies. BUT, I love CV and I love little critters...

I've decided to pass on the CV this time. My Christmas stash is ridiculous and I would love to get some of it used up and make room for new next year. I can't believe this month is half gone, I would love to find a way to slow the days down just a bit. Or better yet, a way to speed up the work day and slow down the leisure time lol. grammadee I hope everything goes well for DH appts. I would love to be going to a weekend end crop enjoy that!

My Christmas stash is ridiculous I need to have a poster, or a wall hanging, or a Tee shirt with these words. Or a computer monitor cover like a pair of flip shades like I used to have with this printed on the inside so whenever I see cool Christmas stuff I can flip it down and block out all the new pretties... Maybe I need the shades, too, for when I enter a craft store...

After awhile I would look at it and think "I know, but I want what I want" as I hit the buy button maribeth those are beautiful. You do such a good job coloring! The weekend is here again! Anyone have srappy plans? I'm going to try to fit in a couple hours on Saturday with my mom. We may end up just chatting since that's what we are best at lol. I have my sketch, papers and photos ready to do for next weekends sketchy Saturday. That is my first priority. Having a sample! DGS will be around quite a bit so I'm sure there will be a nap at some point. He wears me out! lol.

Busy week in the garden and getting things put away for the fall. All the tomatoes are picked and sitting in boxes in the garage. Need to do another sort today for ripe tomatoes. Have a batch roasting in the oven now. They are sooooo yummy. Plans are to get a few more things started in the greenhouse, set up the heater, and general cleanup in there. I also need to move the rolling compost into the greenhouse (well ask DS and DH to move it! )
Three soccer games this week, they won one and lost two . . . but it is still fun to watch. However that cut into crafting time . . . plus I worked Thursday and Friday. I am scheduled for Mon-Thurs next week, and will actually be teaching. I am ONLY subbing for teachers I know, and usually only the ones that will let me teach. I am sure that the situation is the same across the nation, but in Oregon the substitutes are about half of what they were before the pandemic. Partly due to a higher retirement rate last year, so more new teachers were hired and no longer in the sub pool, plus the retired teachers who were subbing have decided it's not worth the risk to their health. For me the stress of the last two years with both DSs doesn't leave me with a great band width to deal with crappy kids in the classroom.
I am hoping to crank some chores out this morning so I have this afternoon to meet up? But there are things to have ready for next week . . . we will see! I've dinked around and made a few cards for Cardtober. But last night I was soooo tired all I wanted to do is just sit and do nothing.

Our garden is cleared off, too, thanks to a work blitz last weekend to get it off the garden and then a couple of days for me to clean and store the veggies. Would be interested in your process for roasting tomatoes, angel97701. Am drowning under them. Cooked a bunch up yesterday, froze some of what I cooked and have the rest ready for a huge batch of lasagna today. I am also packing up for a couple of days in the city. We leave tomorrow and dh has appointments Monday and Tuesday. I have a card kit put together to keep me busy in the hotel room while he is off at the medical centre. Hoping I can still get my head around crafty activities. Seems like forever since I created something... Have a great weekend, Joyfuls!

Finally earned my keep! 18 Christmas cards assembled today, using some of my new stuff— SU! Papers. Some Spellbinders and Hero Arts shapes I had recut to bring with me. Lots of fussy cutting. Just a few meet CARDtober challenges.
Have one more morning in a hotel room tomorrow, so may be able to finish a few more. At least I will be able to claim a couple of Twelve Card Challenge bonuses.

Yum, all this talk of roasting tomatoes has my mouth watering! I am marinating some salmon for dinner, waiting patiently until it is time to pop it in the oven.
I am definitely slower this month, but I am happy with the progress I am making. I was able to close the book so to speak on Jan-March 2021, and just that quarter filled up an entire album. Crazy!! I really focused on documenting the little things while we lived at my parents house, because that will (probably) never happen again and it was a fun period of time. I haven't been scrapping strictly chronological though, so I have a bunch of layouts from April-present sitting for a new album to arrive. I ordered one from Joann today because I saw they were having a decent sale (25% off and free shipping!). I also picked up some other random things, paper embellishments, etc. Can't wait for my new goodies to arrive! Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

@srappyrabbit enjoy your new pretties! Chinagirl828 you've been super productive! Do you do a PL every year? I've thought about doing one on the app and then paper scrapping as well. Yay! grammadee! Glad you have some time to get crafty and play with paper! I've got to get with it. I've tried working in small increments of time, but I'm finding that doesn't really work well for me. I don't have a lot of bandwidth left after work and the weekends seem to fill up so fast. DS2 and his GF want to come by Saturday but I think I'm going to ask for a rain check. I need a quiet weekend with nothing on the agenda to recharge. Tonight is another episode of Squid Game with DS1. I hope everyone is having a good week!

Chinagirl828 you've been super productive! Do you do a PL every year? I do some form of pl every year. My normal pattern is weekly spreads once every four years as I typically get burnt out on the project and it takes me a couple of years to recover and seriously consider doing it again. In the other years I do a monthly summary, sometimes just a double page spread with the highlights for the month, or sometimes several spreads. Last year was my first year back doing it weekly, and I'm so glad it worked out that way as I had so much to document with all the little changes to restrictions and life in general, and I decided I wanted to continue that weekly view into this year. I'm kind of thinking now I'll do it weekly until at least life returns to normal (whatever that looks like in the covid world). My album is not full of just covid stuff, but you can clearly see when it dominates our lives and when our restrictions ease based on the types of things I have photos of.

Wow, I've been so busy with actually teaching as a substitute for a teacher that leaves the plans she would use . . . with a 50 mile(hour) round-trip drive has made for very long days! I am so tired in the evening I can't even think of crafting. Well I did sit at my table and punch four tags for one of the challenges. I am only planning one day of work next week, and then we leave for Hawaii next Friday! I have some tomatoes to take care of before they rot, and some house cleaning to get caught up on, then a bit of craft time before I pack.
May even try a few card challenges. I did 6 layouts last weekend that I still need to photograph and post. I have ideas for the posted challenges, and need to work on a DT card for Imagine. Not even going to get the the "other" challenge I posted in my organization thread, going through books! Oh well, they will still be there later on.
Waiting on a plumber to fix 2 of the 3 hot water heaters in our home. Hopefully next week! Steer are butchered on Monday, have 3 appointments on Tuesday, and sub day on Wednesday. Thursday is packing day, as we leave at 5:55 AM! Hasn't really set in that we are doing Hawaii in October. DSD has her mom's resort time share on Oahu. We used our Alaska Airline miles to purchase our tickets. I plan to take some packaged food with, and grocery shop for essentials. Two or three nights we will eat out, but the rest we are doing on the cheap, as cheap as you can do in Hawaii anyway! Even 30+ years ago I had sticker shock at the grocery store prices of even local foods. (The land is worth more . . . so anyway!)
One more class and I will be done for the day. Yeah!
