I'm so happy you got to spend time with loved ones, have fun, and really laugh out loud. You really needed that. Hope you're feeling better.

So happy to hear that you and Gary enjoyed your family's visit and make some great memories. You've got a lovely looking family.
Hope you are feeling better. Sorry that you had such bad stomach pains. Hope it was nothing too serious.

So happy to hear that you and Gary enjoyed your family's visit and make some great memories. You've got a lovely looking family. Hope you are feeling better. Sorry that you had such bad stomach pains. Hope it was nothing too serious. Thanks. I still have an icky stomach, so I'm sure it's been some kind of stomach bug. The bigger issue is that Gary fell tonight while walking (Quickly) out to the car. His legs gave out and he fell face first onto the grass, luckily. Our neighbor called 911 and was telling DD and me not to touch him. Paramedics came very quickly and examined him after they picked him up. He was alert and okay, but his nose was all bloody, as well as his forearm and knee. He refused to go to the ER. I called Hospice at the same time to report it and they came right over. He now knows not to take one step without his walker. I think he'll be upgraded to a power scooter since his legs are quickly becoming weak. All this because he wanted a cigar tonight. I raced out the door with his walker, to drive him. He was intent on driving but I firmly said he couldn't. Made me sick to see him fall down but a crowd of neighbors quickly surrounded him and wanted to help. It was sweet. Hospice said to watch out for the next 5 days for any signs of cognitive distress because he could have a brain bleed. He's on blood thinners. I'm watching him closely, and DD and I are both emotionally wasted tonight.

I’m so sorry to hear about the fall. It is scary when on blood thinners. It can be hard to convince a person their days of jumping in the car and doing a quick errand are over. The fall very sadly will probably do the trick
. I’m sure this has increased your sadness and anxiety. My dear friend has Parkinson’s as well as stage 4 cancer and type 1 diabetes. The Parkinson’s wasn’t caught early because everyone just assumed the falls were from neuropathy in her feet caused by the diabetes. When I’m with her and she falls it just breaks my heart. Fortunately, she’s finally accepted the need for the walker.
Please never hesitate to come here for support. Caring for someone you love and seeing the decline is so rough, and you need all the love you can get.

@bergdorfblonde I'm so sorry that Gary took a spill. I understand the added stress of now having to watch for a brain bleed, and just all the stress that went with the fall.
Big ((Hugs)) pea friend.

Gary also has had neuropathy in his feet from his diabetes, and now that he's stopped so many of his meds (like Metformin), I see things getting worse. He THOUGHT he could walk but his feet just gave out. He says he knows that he now needs the walker ALL of the time, but we're already talking about a motorized scooter too. I'm not able to push him in a wheelchair all of the time or it'll land me with a bad back again.
He handled this all with humor and grace. I DO see a bit of that high-energy and some confrontation, which is new, but I'm sure it's from the meds. I've learned not to answer him when he's in that type of mood. It can get frustrating because he's nothing like that....
Thank you all for listening and for your feedback! xo (He's healing, scabbing over and seems to be fine from his fall so far).

I don’t have a lot of experience in this area but a motorized scooter sounds like a great idea and I love that you’re thinking about what you can physically manage so you can look after yourself too. 💚

Will the hospice provide the motorized scooter for you? No, they're very liminted here. They did suggest that we try the VA. It's on my list. Had a crazy 24 hours. I broke my toe. That's what I get for rushing around. It's still aching & making me nauseous. I buddy taped it for now. I also got news from my friend who has been visiting Gary often. She thought she had a tummy bug. She had many scans done and will have a PET scan on Monday. Doesn't look good. Scans show cancer I her kidney, pelvic area, lymph nodes and bones. She's 78, very active, a great humanitarian and she lost her DH a few years ago to cancer. This is shocking to her and us. IM trying to support her anyway can. Gary's been feeling well and his edema in his legs looks much better. His nose, where he fell,is also healing.

hugs and hugs.. when it rains it pours. take care!!!! don't rush!! ..my dh got a bad dog bite on his broken leg.. which is sort of ironic.. so now we do dressing changes under his frame. takes it in good humor though.
I am thinking of you and sending good thoughts. sorry about your friend with cancer.

@bergdorfblonde I'm sorry about your broken toe, and about your friend receiving shocking health news. That is a lot on top of everyday stress.
I'm glad to hear that Gary's nose is on the mend after his spill. A motorized scooter sounds like a good idea and I hope a way comes about to get one. Maybe even renting one through a hospital or medical supply store?
Please continue to try to take care of yourself. You are doing so much, but we are here to remind you that your wellbeing is a priority too.
