Thanks for sharing your selves and your life- the good and the hard parts. That’s what family does. ❤️ so perfectly said! We are having a lazy day. I'm blaming the weather as it is cool and gray, making it hard for me to want to do much more than curl up with a book. DH and I almost went to the Farmers Market but decided we really didn't need anything. I'm trying really hard not to waste any food, especially produce, these days and he gets excited and buys things we already have. And with the thought in mind, dinner will be curried butternut squash soup because there is a butternut squash waiting impatiently for me to cut into it. @sunnycamom , I gave up carving pumpkins after our second year in San Diego. They were so gross and rotted by Halloween. We have had 85 degree Halloweens and 36 degree Halloweens and every where in btweeb in my area of So Cal. We always carve day of and then toss night of.

The kids seemed to have fun carving pumpkins. Once we got them going. They were thinking it was a bit lame but then they got into it.

We used to do pumpkins for lazy people. I found Mr. Potato head pumpkin parts at a halloween store and we had Mr. Potato Head pumpkins. Now I am a Halloween scrooge and keep the light off w/o decor. When all is safe, again I'll at least hand out candy, maybe next year. We're home and I'm resting until...kitten time. Then my big, fluffy slippers and I will go across the street and let kittens sleep on my footies. I missed my little guys. OMG Kittens? You betcha'. Dinner is rechauffe. Benadryl is the ultimate sleeping pill. Rest well, @sunnycamom . I'm hoping the 2% cortisone will save you from having to go the ER, again. What a rotten way to spend a Friday night. Feel better.
jeremysgirl, that's a really cute photo. Great job on the pumpkins and a very fun family. This thread is indeed more than just food. I've been feeling quite anxious and upset lately and it's nice to know that I can talk about this. Things will improve, but right now I have a scary thing ahead and I know that I have a tribe of wonderful ladies to sit w/as I wait.

I would be anxious and upset if I were going through what you're going through too scrapmaven. I'm also not sure I'd be able to handle all the challenges @sunnycamom deals with either. But I started reading a book called Furiously Happy. It is written by a woman who has a whole host of mental health conditions. And I made it to chapter 4 before I gave up. She narrates it too. It's just one big garbled mess of thoughts. And I walked away really grateful that most of the time, I am able to control the thoughts in my head and communicate in a logical way. When I am manic it is hard. But after trying to read that book, let's just say that I'm feeling very grateful for where I am mentally.

jeremysgirl, I read "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" and it just ticked me off. Really the moral of the story was that "sh*t happens". Gee thanks for the ephiphany! I relate to your post.

I love carving pumpkins and will do no less than 5 myself. Sometimes my kids join in but mostly not. Dh cooks the seeds and cleans up. This year I may attempt the external carving & shaping like on the food network. 3 of their professional carvers live in Ohio. Last year I watched one of them working at the National pumpkin weigh off. Spent the day running errands for dd and baby Luke. All of his clothes are way too big. He fits in the preemie size. I tried to warn dd ahead he wasn’t going to be big. She wasn’t big and her bp was elevated. Her dh was a 10 pounder so they were just certain he would be. 🤷♀️What do I know. I plan to make grilled Buffalo chicken something for dinner. Not sure what. Love the ring and it’s meaning destined2bmom

teddyw my dd was 7 pounds 7 oz and swam in the newborn size. I think most babies do. DS was in preemies as he was small and 2 weeks early. A lot more options now for smaller babies. When I shopped for dd, there was a tiny section.

Applied calamine lotion and it is definitely helping with the itching! Also gives a nice cool sensation which I like. BTW, I have 34 hives. 31 are on my legs.

I am going to try posting a pic from post images.com. Let’s see if it works. This boy earned his “skunk” belt today! (they consider it a black belt, but he has another year to go for a full-strength black belt) postimg.cc/KkXpsZCvETA cadoodlebug , what am I doing wrong? Which link am I supposed to use to make the actual picture show up? I tried three different ways.

kelly8875 Darcy CollinsSausage & spinach soup 1 lb sausage 1 onion diced 2-3 cloves garlic minced 1 sweet pepper diced ( Jimmy Nardellos are good ) 1/2 cup white wine 1 can of white beans 1 bag spinach 2 quarts vegetable broth Salt & pepper to taste Sautée the sausage until brown add in the diced onion & peppers and Sautée. Add in the wine to deglaze the pan, cook for 5 minutes. Add in the garlic. Add in the beans, the broth & the spinach. Stir. Cook for 20 mins. Can be served with Parmesan cheese. PS you can use Kale, or chard, or rainbow chard as well. Pretty much any green that you cook.

Yesterday ended up being chicken pot pie from Costco. Also today. And probably tomorrow, too. Dessert, for the foreseeable future, is a giant Costco bag of Halloween candy. destined2bmom, your ring is beautiful. What a nice story behind it! jeremysgirl, LOVE your photo of your cute hubby, his cute girls, their cute jack-o-lanterns, and your cute Halloween decorations. I bet those girls are fond of you, even if they don’t always show it. Here’s another sausage and spinach soup … squillen’s Olive Garden knock-off tuscano soup. My family loves it. I wait till the very end to add the spinach, either fresh or frozen. Not a fan of kale, which I think the original OG version uses. Thank you, @sunnycamom and bc2ca ! btw, the sombrero in the background … that’s the fabulous taco truck I love so much, parked in the liquor store parking lot next door to TKD. Honestly, my entire town does NOT look as cheesy as you would think from this badly staged photo!

Home a little bit earlier than I thought we would be from my nephews wedding. The venue was a beautiful barn, the small chapel they got married in was as beautiful. I pretty much avoided my ex sister-in-law and her family although I did speak to her father briefly.
Dinner was great except that there was rosemary on the roasted potatoes and the steak and I made the mistake of eating some of the potatoes even though I tried to scrape the rosemary off the steak. I have a huge intolerance to rosemary and oregano. I never should’ve eaten it because within a half an hour the stomachache started and I was in and out of the bathroom four times. So because we had an hour drive home my mom was like it’s OK you don’t feel good we can go home. All that was left truly for the evening was the dessert bar, which I’m kind of sad we missed, and then the dancing and more drinking of all of their friends was going on so we really didn’t miss a whole lot by leaving early.
I am feeling better after some Imodium. I knew I never should’ve touched the dinner but I was starving. I also should’ve asked because it was sit down what was on the steak and the potatoes. Oh well live and learn I guess. Otherwise it was a great wedding, the bride and groom looked beautiful, and it was fun to sit and visit with some of my cousins

It is so funny christine58 well not funny but odd you have that reaction to rosemary. People often don't believe it as I have no food allergies that I have a terrible reaction to sage. Have since I was a child. I'm glad your time wasn't so bad and that you got to visit with some family. Hope you feel better.

We ended up taking a trip to the indoor farm market. We got a variety of cheeses, crackers, and sausages and had charcuterie for dinner tonight. It was a nice night out just shopping with Jeremy. I did decide to have two glasses of wine too. Charcuterie is one of those meals, like Italian food, that seems to demand a glass of wine. I figured I've been feeling alright lately so it was alright to indulge a bit. Now I'm a bit tipsy. Oh my!

Apparently I have that reaction to rosemary and oregano because they were both part of the pine tree family. I am highly allergic to pine trees. When I had my allergy testing about 10 years ago the welts on my forearm from pine trees was the size of a quarter. Then a friend of mine who is a food science teacher told me that oregano and Rosemary are in the pine family and that’s why I have the reaction that I do. My off the boat from Rome Italy grandmother never cooked with rosemary and never cooked with oregano so never had this issue whenever she cooked

lucyg, congratulations to your strong and self disciplined dgs. I'm so proud of him. My yds who is many years older stopped just before black belt training. christine58, I'm enjoying listening to good news about your family. It's more than about time. What a drag to be allergic to Rosemary or sage. There goes your touring spot w/Simon and Garfunkle, christine58 and jeremysgirl.
