I got the covid booster shot last night and boy, am I achy today. I just got out of bed a few minutes ago- it just seemed like so much effort. I didn't think anything of getting the shot until the nurse mentioned that the side effects might be really bad this time because I've had the previous 2 shots. Then I remembered my experience with the last shot. My school district was smart to offer the shots on Friday- that way they didn't need subs because we are all sick today.
My nephew just contacted me yesterday about getting a Halloween costume- evidently it didn't occur to him earlier. He wants to be a hotdog. Ugh- so now I need to find a hotdog costume or make one this weekend.
How are these two things related? He is 12 and got his first shot a week ago. He had a fever afterwards and is freaked out about getting the second shot. So now I have to take him costume shopping while not mentioning that I had the booster and pretending that I don't feel really sick. It is going to be an amazing acting performance- about as good as when I got stung by a bee (he is terrified by bees) and I had to pretend it didn't hurt like crazy.
Anyone else get the booster? What was your experience?

Target had hot dog costumes as did our party America. See if you can buy online and pick up in store.
I'm going for my booster soon. I'm hoping my reaction is mild as I have bunco tonight and book club tomorrow

I got my 3rd dose 2 Friday's ago and unfortunately ended up in the ER shortly after with a bad reaction.
Ended up back in the ER last evening with it worsening.
Glad to be fully vaccinated but this sucks.
Good luck to all those who get their 3rd.
Dd was out for 24 hours but she has CVID and is on weekly IgG infusion.
Dh was tired and a little sore for about 28 hours and then fine.

I got my Moderna booster yesterday and I'm really achy today. I didn't sleep very much either, but I don't know if that was my usual random insomnia or because I also got a keratin treatment on my hair and I was subconsciously afraid I was going to get my hair kinked up while I slept. Anyway, I took some Motrin and I'm hoping the aches will go away soon.

I get my third Moderna on Tuesday. Now wondering if I should move that to the following week because I have a crazy week ahead.

For those who are having issues with the booster did you have issues with the first two shots? I had no problems with the first two but everyone I know who has had the booster has had some issue.

I had a third dose of Moderna and had zero reaction. The first two knocked me down.
My third does was 6 months after my second dose. I have an autoimmune disease and did not realize I qualified. As a teacher, my doctor recommended it.

I liked your post but not because you feel miserable ! Just wanted to say it’s nice you’re doing that for your nephew.

Ugh, that sounds miserable. I hope you feel better soon! I have my booster scheduled for Monday. My reaction to the first 2 was minimal, fingers crossed this one is too. Good luck with the "hotdog" too!

I'm going for my Moderna booster tomorrow. I'm a teacher, so I qualify. I have a virtual conference Monday, so if I am feeling yucky, I can just hole up and listen in. I had to plan it for when I knew I would be able to do as little as possible or be out, just in case.
My 1st Moderna was a sore arm, 2nd laid me out for a couple of days.

I had my Pfizer booster and had a mild headache for one day.
I hope you feel better soon. How nice you're helping your nephew get a costume! I'm a huge fan of the drive-up pick-up service at Target, so I'm hoping you can find a great costume there and not have to take your achy body inside the store.

I got my 3rd dose in early September. My nurse said that the feedback that they had was that the way you reated to your second is about how you'd react to your 3rd shot/booster.
That was true for me in that I didnt react to dose #2 or dose #3 at all. I had a reaction to dose 1

I had no problems with the first two but everyone I know who has had the booster has had some issue. 1st fever, body aches, bone pain in shoulder and clavicle. 2nd fever, tired, headache, bone pain, rash under arm and chest, swollen lymph nodes that lasted months and had to be closely monitored. 3rd rash 8 min after shot that spread to chest and fave with hives. Swollen lymph nodes 2 hours after shot. 2 trips to ER and lots of meds.

I had AZ initially followed up by two Pfizer shots. The only side effect I had was a sore arm each time. It’s so different for everyone!

It is interesting how people can be so different in their reactions. I am in the medically-fragile category and had the Pfizer two dose vaccine and my booster about two weeks ago. I had zero reaction to any of them - not even a sore arm. My husband had the same (he is age-eligible) and was a little achy for a day or so. I'm sorry to hear that you all have had a bad time. I always reminded myself that whatever happened, it was better than being in the ICU on a ventilator!

Pfizer booster 4 weeks ago. I had a 99.5*F temperature on the day, sore arm for about 36 hours, then on days 3 and 6 after, I was like a bear with a sore head. It passed.
Interestingly, my temperature hasn't gone above 98.6*F since. I've been running a low-grade fever since March 2020 when I had suspected Covid before there was any testing. In all that time, 19 months, it hasn't stayed below normal for more than a few days. How about that?

I did the Moderna booster yesterday. For me it was a mix and match. I had J&J mid March. I am abnormally tired this afternoon. I also had the flu vaccine on Wednesday with no initial reaction.
I did work in the yard this morning, but I am more tired than normal after this type of activity. I’m in jammies now with very little plans for the rest of the weekend. I’ll bake my DH some cookies here in a bit.

I had the Moderna booster about 5:00 p.m. last night. I didn't sleep well, but who knows what that was. Now I'm getting tired (3:00 p.m.).
For the first 2 Moderna shots I was tired and ran a low fever. So at this point this seems to be a little different as far as no fever.

I got my 3rd Pfizer 2 weeks ago. It was easier than my 2nd shot. The first day and a half I was really achey. I took a couple tylenol and felt much better.

I am planning on my booster. A bit apprehensive because both doses of Pfizer knocked me down for a day or so. I am trying to shake the recent memory (Monday) of a reaction to Actonel (Risedronate Sodium) before I go for the booster. I need a break from feeling lousy. LOL

DH has had his Pfizer booster and he reacted the same as he did with the 2nd shot. He felt like he had the flu for 24 hours.

First shot of Moderna, I felt pretty bad the first 12 hours. The arm soreness was pretty intense. Second shot, nothing.
Booster? Holy hell, I can’t lie, it was bad. I had read that for some people it set off a flare of autoimmune issues and it did something fierce for me. For about 24 hours, I had a flare up of my many medical problems, down to the restless leg syndrome that’s been under control for years. So between the flare up and feeling like I had the flu, it was not a great time.
I’d do it again in a heartbeat, and realize boosters are probably part of my future. I’ll just be better prepared. And choose to think of it as the universe reminding me to be grateful for modern medicine that helps me me live a decent life

Does anyone know if the Moderna booster is half dose? I have been reading that they are testing the half dose booster but never heard if that is what they put on the market.

I didn't have any significant reaction to the first 2 Pfizer shots (tired, brief spell of nausea) but the booster made the lymph nodes in my armpit swell terribly for 4-5 days. It wasn't anything that interfered with going about life but I did have trouble sleeping because it hurt so much. My husband and daughter get theirs tomorrow. They had no reaction the first 2 shots so I really hope it's the same for the booster for them.

I'm getting my Moderna booster today! woo-hoo! The only problem is that I'm subbing tomorrow and I hope it wasn't a mistake to schedule the booster for today. This is at one of our county clinics and the next available time that worked for me was next Friday at Walgreen's. I'm subbing for the librarian and she has an assistant who happens to be a good friend of mine, so I'm hoping that even if I don't feel great it will be okay... I mean, it's not like I have to wrangle 25 2nd graders all day while not feeling well. (you know, like regular teachers often have to do because there are no subs available). Dd gets hers today also, because she works for the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps, the ones running the clinics. I'm really happy about that because we're seeing more cases of Moderna people who now have Covid. The father of one of her good friends had covid, then developed that covid pneumonia, and is finally home from the hospital but still on oxygen. So I'm happy dd can get hers since otherwise she might not qualify yet since she's young.
