More grifting by the trumps..... The statement went on to call "Melania's Vision" a "breathtaking watercolor art by Marc-Antoine Coulon, and embodies Mrs. Trump's cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire." The artwork will include an audio recording from Trump "with a message of hope." Experts have recommended caution when purchasing NFTs.www.rawstory.com/melania-trump-nfts/

“Opinion: Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 depravity is still not fully known”
By Editorial Board Today at 2:54 p.m. EST
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot has proved once again why the probe is so necessary — and, by the same token, why so many Republicans have fought the investigation. The panel on Monday revealed more evidence illustrating President Donald Trump’s dereliction of duty on one of the most dangerous days in the country’s modern history — corroboration that comes from members of Congress and a variety of Trump allies. Many Republicans and Trump acolytes would prefer to ignore or play down what happened on Jan. 6. But their own words, offered and recorded at the time, show how they really felt as political calculations gave way to fear about the frenzy Mr. Trump had instigated.
Jan. 6 committee members released text messages to and from Mark Meadows, who was Mr. Trump’s chief of staff on Jan. 6, that Mr. Meadows handed over before he stopped cooperating with the panel. They show that the White House received a flood of chilling updates directly from the Capitol, and that Mr. Trump’s allies and family begged him to intervene.
One message read: “Hey, Mark, protesters are literally storming the Capitol. Breaking windows on doors. Rushing in. Is Trump going to say something?” Another: “There’s an armed standoff at the House Chamber door.” Yet another: “We are all helpless.”
There appears to have been no confusion about what Mr. Trump needed to do, as officials in his administration and others messaged Mr. Meadows. “POTUS has to come out firmly and tell protesters to dissipate. Someone is going to get killed,” one message read. “TELL THEM TO GO HOME,” read another. “POTUS needs to calm this s--- down,” said a third. The pro-Trump Fox News propaganda chorus of Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Brian Kilmeade sent Mr. Meadows similar pleas.
Even Donald Trump Jr., Mr. Trump’s son, insisted, “He’s got to condemn this s--- ASAP.” Mr. Trump Jr. persisted with specific recommendations: “We need an Oval address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand.” The president instead issued only late and weak requests for the rioters to stand down as his mob ransacked the Capitol — including one in which he called the insurrectionists “very special.”
These messages are no doubt only a small representation of the discussion and actions — or lack thereof — Trump officials took on Jan. 6, underscoring that the committee must press its probe even in the face of Mr. Trump’s attempts to obstruct the investigation. The Justice Department and the courts have a role to play; criminal cases against Mr. Meadows and former Trump adviser Stephen K. Bannon for refusing to testify should proceed swiftly, sending the message that this key inquiry is well within Congress’s investigative authorities and that those powers must be respected.
The full depravity of Mr. Trump’s instigation before and behavior during the Capitol siege is still not fully known. It is up to the committee to establish an authoritative and enduring record.
“Remember this day forever!” the then-president said on Jan. 6. Yes, every American should.”
Its becoming clearer everyday that few people care to remember what happened on January 6.

Rick Perry was one of the first to suggest throwing out the votes on Nev 4th. CNN reveals most damning Mark Meadows text was sent from Rick Perry's phone Brad Reed December 17, 2021 CNN on Friday reports that former Texas Gov. Rick Perry's phone was used to send what so far has been the most damning text message sent to former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows in the wake of the 2020 presidential election. On November 4th, the day after the election, a text from Perry's phone sent to Meadows recommended taking an "aggressive" plan to stop President Joe Biden from being declared the winner. "Here's an aggressive strategy," the message began. "Why can't Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and other Republican-controlled state houses declare this is B.S. The Republicans need to focus on an economic message?? That’s pretty funny.
The Republicans have learned it’s easier to critique the Democrats economic message without offering one of their own, they do this because they know they can win elections this way. Well that’s when they aren’t cheating by making it harder for certain groups of people to vote and lie about the reasoning.

There is documented brain damage from having Covid!! Months after a bout with COVID-19, many people are still struggling with memory problems, mental fog and mood changes. One reason is that the disease can cause long-term harm to the brain."A lot of people are suffering," says Jennifer Frontera, a neurology professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. *** But half of the patients in one study still weren't back to normal after a year. So scientists need to "speed up our processes to offer some kind of therapeutics for these people," Frontera says. Also, it's probably important to "treat that person early in the disease rather than when the disease has advanced so much that it has created damage that cannot be reversed," Serrano says. All of the researchers mentioned that the best way to prevent COVID-related brain damage is to get vaccinated.www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/12/16/1064594686/how-covid-threatens-the-brain

Well the Republicans in Congress don’t believe that. I live in NH and our senator, Maggie Hassan is up for re-election in what will probably be a close race. PACs from both parties have already started with ads. A Republican one is claiming prescription drug costs will rise by 96%. The ad is similar to this one, maybe the same PAC that not surprisingly, has accepted money from big Pharma. americanindependent.com/american-action-network-big-pharma-prescription-drug-prices/

“Opinion: Meet the Democrat who may take the next Democratic president hostage”
By Paul Waldman Columnist October 31, 2019
“The Democrats running for president, even those like Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg who are being characterized as “moderates,” have some significant plans for legislation they’d like to pass if they become president. Doing so, however, would require their party to take back control of the Senate, where Republicans currently have a 53-to-47 majority. Such a victory won’t be easy, but it’s certainly possible, given that Republicans are defending more seats and have a number of vulnerable senators up for reelection.
But if you’re a liberal, what you may not have thought about — because it may be too depressing to contemplate — is what happens if Democrats win control by a vote or two, and the fate of the entire progressive project lies in the hands of Sen. Joe Manchin III of West Virginia.
We’ll get to the implications in a moment, but first, take a gander at this clip from an interview Manchin just gave to Fox News:
This was in reference to an interview Bernie Sanders gave in which he was asked whether Manchin and other more conservative Democrats would vote for his agenda, and Sanders said, “Damn right they will.” Not only is Manchin making clear he wouldn’t, but in answer to the question of whom he’ll vote for in 2020 if Sanders is his party’s nominee, Manchin said, “It wouldn’t be Bernie.”
This may not be all that surprising, given that by most measures, Manchin is the most conservative Democrat in the Senate. In fact, he’s just about the only Democrat who could win statewide in West Virginia, which Donald Trump won in 2016 by 42 points. Nevertheless, the appropriate thing for even a Democrat from West Virginia to say is not “It wouldn’t be Bernie” but “It wouldn’t be Trump.”
By the way, West Virginia is the poorest state in the country, so you could argue that Manchin’s constituents would benefit more than anyone else from Democratic agenda items such as universal health coverage, universal pre-K, enhanced workers’ rights and a higher minimum wage. How much is he really going to stand in the way of all that?
The answer is: probably quite a bit. Manchin’s entire political identity is built on being the guy who tells Democrats they’re being a bunch of dastardly libruls, and he has to pull the party to the right for its own good. Not only that, if he really holds the balance of power — if the Senate is 50-50, or if it’s 51-to-49 Democratic and he can join with another conservative Democrat (for instance, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, an unpredictable centrist who opposes getting rid of the filibuster), Manchin will have every incentive to throw sand in the gears of the party’s agenda.
That’s because if Manchin supports everything a President Sanders or a President Warren or a President Biden wants to do, he loses his power. He’d just be one vote out of 50 or so. If, on the other hand, he refuses to go along with health-care reform or whatever other bill is being debated, he immediately becomes the most powerful person in Congress. Democrats will have no choice but to give in and tailor their bills to Manchin’s liking if they don’t want the agenda to fail completely. And if he simply wants some part of that agenda to fail, he can make it happen.
Which may remind you of what happened in 2009 and early 2010, when Democrats had a filibuster-proof 60 votes in the Senate as they were trying to pass the Affordable Care Act. Without a single vote to spare, they had to consent to what conservative Democrats wanted. Most importantly, that meant kowtowing to Joe Lieberman, who had been defeated in a primary by a more liberal candidate, then ran as an Independent and won. Though the vast majority of Democrats were in favor of a public option, Lieberman made clear that if it was included in the bill, he’d join the Republican filibuster and kill the entire thing. How about allowing those over 55 to buy in to Medicare, something he had supported in the past? Nope, Lieberman killed that, too.
Joe Manchin is likely to become the 2021 version of Joe Lieberman, and the more he’s criticized by the left for sabotaging the progressive agenda and being the GOP’s best friend, the better it will be for him politically.
Sanders’s plan to deal with that is to pressure centrists such as Manchin by convincing them that, “If I don’t support an agenda that works for working people, I’m going to have President Sanders coming to my state and rallying working-class people." That doesn’t sound like something Manchin would be particularly afraid of. Then again, I’m not sure if the other Democratic candidates have a plan at all. And, of course, they have more pressing things to think about right now. But this is something any Democratic president is going to have no choice but to deal with.”

“Statement from Press Secretary Jen Psaki”
DECEMBER 19, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES Senator Manchin’s comments this morning on FOX are at odds with his discussions this week with the President, with White House staff, and with his own public utterances. Weeks ago, Senator Manchin committed to the President, at his home in Wilmington, to support the Build Back Better framework that the President then subsequently announced. Senator Manchin pledged repeatedly to negotiate on finalizing that framework “in good faith.”
On Tuesday of this week, Senator Manchin came to the White House and submitted—to the President, in person, directly—a written outline for a Build Back Better bill that was the same size and scope as the President’s framework, and covered many of the same priorities. While that framework was missing key priorities, we believed it could lead to a compromise acceptable to all. Senator Manchin promised to continue conversations in the days ahead, and to work with us to reach that common ground. If his comments on FOX and written statement indicate an end to that effort, they represent a sudden and inexplicable reversal in his position, and a breach of his commitments to the President and the Senator’s colleagues in the House and Senate.
Senator Manchin claims that this change of position is related to inflation, but the think tank he often cites on Build Back Better—the Penn Wharton Budget Institute—issued a report less than 48 hours ago that noted the Build Back Better Act will have virtually no impact on inflation in the short term, and, in the long run, the policies it includes will ease inflationary pressures. Many leading economists with whom Senator Manchin frequently consults also support Build Back Better.
Build Back Better lowers costs that families pay. It will reduce what families pay for child care. It will reduce what they pay for prescription drugs. It will lower health care premiums. And it puts a tax cut in the pockets of families with kids. If someone is concerned about the impact that higher prices are having on families, this bill gives them a break.
Senator Manchin cited deficit concerns in his statement. But the plan is fully paid for, is the most fiscally responsible major bill that Congress has considered in years, and reduces the deficit in the long run. The Congressional Budget Office report that the Senator cites analyzed an unfunded extension of Build Back Better. That’s not what the President has proposed, not the bill the Senate would vote on, and not what the President would support. Senator Manchin knows that: The President has told him that repeatedly, including this week, face to face.
Likewise, Senator Manchin’s statement about the climate provisions in Build Back Better are wrong. Build Back Better will produce a job-creating clean energy future for this country—including West Virginia.
Just as Senator Manchin reversed his position on Build Back Better this morning, we will continue to press him to see if he will reverse his position yet again, to honor his prior commitments and be true to his word.
In the meantime, Senator Manchin will have to explain to those families paying $1,000 a month for insulin why they need to keep paying that, instead of $35 for that vital medicine. He will have to explain to the nearly two million women who would get the affordable day care they need to return to work why he opposes a plan to get them the help they need. Maybe Senator Manchin can explain to the millions of children who have been lifted out of poverty, in part due to the Child Tax Credit, why he wants to end a program that is helping achieve this milestone—we cannot.
We are proud of what we have gotten done in 2021: the American Rescue Plan, the fastest decrease in unemployment in U.S. history, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, over 200 million Americans vaccinated, schools reopened, the fastest rollout of vaccines to children anywhere in the world, and historic appointments to the Federal judiciary.
But we will not relent in the fight to help Americans with their child care, health care, prescription drug costs, and elder care—and to combat climate change. The fight for Build Back Better is too important to give up. We will find a way to move forward next year.”
