You can report sightings and keep our scientists informed on what nature is doing.

Thanks! I love bird watching. I’m moving to the east coast and I’m looking forward to seeing new birds.

For several years, we took a girls’ weekend trip to the Jersey Shore and rented a 3-story house with a rooftop deck. We’d go up in the morning, drink coffee and watch the sun rise. We began to see a slow, steady flow of monarch butterflies each year, drifting over the rooftop and realized they’re on their migratory flight path south. Very cool!

We had the pleasure one year of a large group of monarchs stopping here--the plants on the creek behind our house were covered with them, and then a few hours later all were gone.
Another year, we were stopped along I45 between Dallas and Houston and a large group were flying by, it was a great treat to see and be in the midst of the flight.
Now, their path has shifted west and we only see a few who wander by. I still plant milkweed in hopes of feeding those who cross our propterty.
