Someone mentioned photorealistic papers in another thread.
Do you use them?
I do use the ones that are water, bricks, wood, leaves, grass, etc. I tend to like them if they are an all-over design. I've used those as mats for photos. I think a large piece of photorealistic paper is really distracting but a little bit peaking out behind a photo looks cool. I have a beer one (not a glass- the whole paper is beer) that I've used for so many layouts that I've bought 10 sheets of it. I go to a lot of breweries.
I never understand the ones that are one huge photo of an object, or ones with one object in the corner. I've never seen anyone use them.
When I find a cheap stack of them I buy them for school. The kids love cutting the papers up for collage.

occasionally but I find them hard to use and almost like they distract from the actual photos.
I am more likely to use the all over design nature/architecture ones though.
I do think they would be good for journalling only pages (where there isn't a photo) or title pages (ditto)

I do use them, buy only if I can cover most of it up with the pictures/embellishments for the same reason as posted above that it distracts from the photos. That said, I have to like the paper on its on merit, and not one big giant item. More pattern paper like.

No - I don't use them and I don't think I've ever purchased one. I wouldn't know how to use it.

Those used to be really popular in paper pads at Michaels years ago. I bought one pad and never could find a use for it. Finally gave it away to good will. Maybe I’m just not creative enough. LOL.

I use them occasionally for scrapbooking but find that I use them more for other craft projects, especially the ones that look like brick walls or wood. For some unknown reason I got hooked on Dollar Tree craft videos on YouTube a few months ago and several of the crafts use photorealistic paper for backgrounds.

I've purchased a few over the years and haven't used them so I gave them to my daughter and she made paper airplanes out of them.

I once used a cheerios print one for a classic Baby Eating Cheerios layout, circa 2004. Other than that one, I’ve always steered clear. I don’t care for them at all. I really dislike when SC puts them in their kits too.

I think I've only ever had one sheet which I received as a gift so I made myself use it. I struggle with using them for all the reasons listed above, and although there are some perfectly lovely woodgrain etc textured papers, I prefer a less realistic woodgrain on my pages.

I've neither purchased nor used them, since they're not my style.

I used several sheets of one with red roses all over it for my sons small wedding album that I made in 2002! I mainly used it as a matting for photos as stated above. My daughter in law carried red roses. It was a tiny wedding only 25 people. Haven't used anything like that since.

I adore photorealistic papers. I use them whenever I can for any layout I have them for. When my son wakes up I'll slip into his room and snap a few photos of recent photorealistic layouts I did. I also used quite a few recently for food photos with my DGD.
I get most of mine from either Scrapbook Customs or Scrap your trip.

Those are cute pages, myboysnme. I am more likely to use the all over designs, like brickwork or woodgrain, but some of the scenes are great as backgrounds for special photos. I like tearing and layering grass or water or sky papers, and I sometimes cut the papers up and use them for cards. I struggle with the papers with the big prominent images, whether photo realistic or artwork. Got some beautiful G45 papers with a kit I received a couple of weeks ago, but have no idea what to do with them.

I love photorealistic papers. I make journals and the papers work great for base pages, subject themes and artistic elements.

That is the only way I can see that working. I got a Christmas kit from Not Just for Boys that has paper like that and all of their examples are fussy cut.

It is neat how you combined that Obed Marshall paper with the photorealistic cereal. I think a lot of the time photorealistic paper looks dated and your pages don't look dated at all. The look really current and cute.

I’m not wearing my glasses and when I first read your post I thought it said you used red NOSE paper for your sons wedding 😂. I must be tired since I didn’t question it and tried to imagine what that paper looked like!

The look really current and cute. You just warmed my heart. Your compliments are so kind and I think you. I am going to post a few more from DS2 book since he left this morning and I have access to the books now.

I had some back in the day and used some here and there like the pool one or a sunset on vellum. But I struggle. I also struggle with whole page illustrated designs like a field or a page of 1-2 large flowers. My brain doesn’t work with those but I’ve seen so many beautiful pages done with them which is why I keep buying them (and then they sit unused until I just use the b side)

Same for me too. I love how you mixed the Obed Marshall paper with the photo realistic, and where the paper just looks like another photo in your background, like on the big sur and the waterfall pages.
