Um, whoa. I could get lost in that tutorial—seeing as the initial insta demo impressed me! Imagine all the colors and glitter and markings…and the SECRETS! Thank you for sharing this with us late 80s/early 90s girls! I totes have to mark my spot here.

If your paper tends to stick in a die after cutting, especially intricate ones, run the die thru the die cutter using a dryer sheet or waxed paper. Your die will release easier. I'm trying this one!
Did you immediately think MASH!?

refugeepea -- I thought you meant the TV show and was very confused. It's been so long, I don't even remember how you do the telling of fortunes on paper, but for where you live it's M.A.S.H.; mansion, apartment, street or house. Pick a number and move that paper thing around.

Thank you so much for posting this! I just tried it and got a stamped image perfectly lined up to the die for the first time ever.

I don't know why I never thought of this before watching Shimelle, but you can fussy cut images out of your patterned paper to use as embellishments before you do your LO on said paper. So now a lot of my LO have some holes in the middle that are covered up, especially the floral ones.

I do this with cardmaking to save on fancy cardstock or papers that I don't have a lot of - I die cut words or a small mat out of the center of the main matting piece before I put my panel over the top hiding the holes. If I really love the matting paper I die cut-gut a big rectangle out of the middle so I can use it as a panel on another card.

I don’t know why I never heard this before but spritzing your paper with water before using an embossing folder. I heard about this when I got my first 3D embossing folder. Yana Smakula has a video where she shows how much water she puts on for 3D embossing - not just a spritz, which is what I was doing, she really wets both sides of the cardstock first for a really deep impression without cracking.

This embossing method with papers that contain cotton, ugh, heavenly. (And then you put a little shimmer in the water spray bottle too for maximum vavavoom...)

How to fix your warped die cutting plates. Mine were so bad I was ready to trash them and get new ones until I tried this trick from Jennifer McGuire.

I will also sometimes mat pictures out of the middle of a paper or cardstock if I know the hole will be covered up.
