Does anyone have the Stick and Stamp mat from Brutus Monroe? It looks interesting. I always have a problem with stencils and looks like it might help.
TIA

Hum...never seen it, could be interesting to work with, but I'm not 100% on it. I will likely pass.

I saw Jennifer McGuire using it to line up die cut letters in a video and I saw someone mention it on IG but there wasn't any more info that I could find without some effort so I concluded I probably don't need it (for now). I have seen the Waffle Flower stencil mat used a lot more on IG so I was slightly tempted by that. It comes in two sizes and has a corner to work into/wedge the stencils into, and I gather the surface minimizes slipping and sliding. I have also been tempted by magnetic glass mats which seem like they might kill two birds with one stone (using magnets to hold the stencil in place) but they also cost a lot more.

I've been curious about the Waffle Flower one myself! If anyone has one would you please let us know if you love it?

Thanks ladies for the feedback. I hadn't really heard anything about it so was curious and now know that I won't be buying it. But am going to look into the Waffle Flower one.

Using the sticky mats for stencils and ink blending is super helpful. I'm not sure how much the Brutus Monroe mat is but I use other sticky mats from Amazon and they work just fine and I'm guessing they are cheaper at 3 for $12.99. I cut my mats down to fit in my stamp positioner too. Here are the latest ones I purchased: smile.amazon.com/dp/B07F1XL3BM?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I love the idea of the waffle flower mat but it's too expensive for me. I searched silicone mats on Amazon and purchased this one, specifically because it had a true square corner. I haven't use it yet but it was only $6.99 when I purchased it: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MB2DFG9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

I was using the Waffle Flower mat and it really helped, but some stencil (intricate designs) will hold better with Pixie spray. I invested in the glass magnetic mat from GlassBoardStudio and LOVE IT! I actually just put a piece of paper down (so I don't have clean up), cardstock, stencil and start blending or applying paste.
Looking at the glass mat - I do wonder if there's a way to add a metal plate to your existing mat and then you would just need the magnets. The ones used for the stamp positioners don't seem to be as strong as the magnets sold by GlassBoard, so you would definitely need those.

I LOVE my WF StencilMat. I love the ledge and corner. It holds things in place well. I typically add a piece of washi though too for good measure. I use my stencils a lot so it was a good investment for me and worth every penny. I bought a cheap one and it went to the giveaway box shortly thereafter…. Didn’t hold things and no ledge.

I use old Cricut mats that I cut down into 6 x 6 squares. They're not sticky enough to hold paper while it runs through my Maker, but they're just right for holding cardstock in place while I ink/stencil. They're also great for holding die-cuts while I apply media to them.
The mats are very easy to cut. I use a pair of old scissors, and it takes very little effort to cut right through them. I cut the protective plastic sheet separately with my paper trimmer.

I also just cut down my older Silhouette mats and use them in my Misti. They work beautifully. If you didn't have an older mat, I could see the benefit of the Brutus Monroe mat because it's washable.

Simon Hurley shared a video using the stick and stamp mat the other day and it definitely looked like something I would make out of an extra sticky mat from my electronic cutter, if I was inclined to have one. I don't think I need it at all though.

I have also been tempted by magnetic glass mats which seem like they might kill two birds with one stone (using magnets to hold the stencil in place) but they also cost a lot more. My plug for life altering stencil tools: I got the Wendy Vecchi Staytion after watching a video where the person used it for their stenciling. It's metal so a bit different from what you're describing but it has changed my life! I wasn't much of a stenciler or paste user before but the fact that I can stencil without worrying about making things slide has made me think about whole new projects. The magnets are so strong that you don't even have to hold the stencil in place while you're working.

It's great for keeping your projects in place and your fingers clean. P.S. My brain always wants to call it the Staycation.

Bumping an old thread. I used the Brutus Monroe sticky mat for the first time today. It held the paper and wouldn’t let go. It tore the paper to shreds and half of it is still on the mat. I’ve emailed scrapbook.com for a refund.

The instructions I've seen for removing your paper from these types of sticky mats is to bend/flex the mat away from the paper.

It was priced at 6.99 for 3 of them which is much better than the same price for one of them. They are 10.99 today, but still a better deal than the B Monroe and Misti branded mats and can be easily be cut to size for the Misti.

I’ve emailed scrapbook.com for a refund. Yes, definitely bend the sticky mat. It's a shame that that info isn't front and center in red lettering on the packaging or on the mat itself! If you're unsure what we're saying, do a quick search on YouTube, I'm sure someone has a short demo. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I’ve watched videos using sticky mats and completely forgot that they have bent the mat. I’ll try to bend and pull off what I can but the paper shredded and what’s left is a thin layer of paper. Lesson learned….

I’ll try to bend and pull off what I can but the paper shredded and what’s left is a thin layer of paper. Lesson learned…. Once you get the paper off, you can press a t-shirt against the mat a few times to "de-stick" it a little bit. That should help break it in.

We received the Brutus Monroe mat in our last Crop and Create cardmaking event kit. I really like it. I keep it in my Misti and don't have to use magnets or tape anymore to hold my card front. You do have to peel the mat away from the paper, not vice versa. You just bend the mat almost in half without creasing and it comes right off. It was demoed during Crop and Create so everyone was warned about the paper tearing if you tried to pull it up, and shown the proper technique.
That said, I just started using the Altenew Stamp Wheel this week and if I had to purchase an excellent sticky mat that you don't need a "technique" to use, it's the Stamp Wheel. I was going to post a thread about it. It's amazing. it holds paper without moving, it holds stencils, its awesome. I prefer it to my Misti, hands down. The mat in it is the same material as a clear stamp. I love that the lid lifts clean off and I can flip it over to ink my stamp. I love that it stamps straight up and down. I am just loving using it, I feel like my creativity has been revitalized.

Wanted to say that Scrapbook.com refunded my money. Also, I was able to scrape off a lot of the cardstock residue so I might give the mat another chance. Bending it of course to release the paper!
