Lara Trump says only hirer on merit.. um, say what? Kamala Harris was the District Attorney for San Francisco and the Attorney General for the state of CA. Last time I checked both of those positions are government positions. And neither San Francisco or CA are some small little backward city or state. Just exactly what “government experience “ did dumpster don, his family, or the majority of his appointments have? If I remember correctly one of his appointments was a wedding planner.

Voter fraud revisited... North Carolina style.. This is where McCready's own son testified against him.. Channel 9 investigation in 2018 uncovered allegations that [McCrae] Dowless paid people to illegally collect absentee ballots for Republican candidate Mark Harris. Harris’s opponent, Dan McCready, conceded to Harris on election night, but weeks later the North Carolina Board of Elections voted not to certify the election results," the station reported. While awaiting trial for alleged voter fraud, McCready was convicted of Social Security fraud. He was supposed to have started his prison sentence on April 1, but that apparently was delayed again as he battled cancer. "In February 2019, the state board of elections called for a new election in North Carolina’s District 9 congressional race. It is the only time in documented history a federal election was overturned for a fraud investigation," the network reported. "Also in February 2019, Dowless was arrested on fraud charges tied to the 2016 general election and 2018 primary election. Months later, a grand jury in Wake County indicted Dowless and six others for charges tied to the 2018 general election." Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman released as statement that the other trials will continue. "There remain about six others charged related to this matter and we will be moving forward with those cases with the understanding that the State’s position was always that Mr. Dowless was the principle coordinator of the ballot process in question," she said. Journalist Joe Bruno of Channel 9 won the prestigious George Polk Award in 2019 for his reporting that blew open the scandal. www.rawstory.com/mccrae-dowless-north-carolina/Seems No Carolina has voter issues .. how many messes don't we know about.. Meadows right now. Cawthorn has issues..

If MTG honestly doesn’t remember anything then she doesn’t have the metal capabilities to be a member of Congress because of the work involved. Well the work members are suppose to be doing.

I have said before and I will say it again, conservatives believe people make the choice to be poor. Which means they can make a choice to be rich without any help from the government just as easily. Too bad it doesn’t work that way.

An independent is better than a Republican, especially Mike Lee. In Utah, the fight against an incumbent Democrat, especially a midterm election with a Democratic President is an uphill battle, virtually impossible. Better to face reality and try to elect someone who has a chance of getting elected and might work with the Democrats as opposed to handing the election to Mike Lee, whose only objectives are actively obstructing and tearing down our democracy. 4-24-2022 “Who might work with the Democrats”. He won’t, at least not when it counts. So the Democrats will not be better off. I like the guy but the reason I quit following him on twitter is because I got tired of listening to his conservative views. Actually with him running as an independent he could split the vote between conservatives enough so a strong Democratic candidate could win. But we will never know now because the Democrats caved. So on this we will disagree. Another perspective on this candidate www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/04/25/utah-democrats-evan-mcmullin-independent-mike-lee-model-to-save-democracy/Since Democrats have essentially no chance in the race, it makes sense to join hands with those with whom they have policy differences but a shared commitment to democracy. The Deseret News observes that the Democrats’ decision “injects significant momentum into a more moderate, independent movement in Utah politics — and signals Utah Democrats are so eager to up the chances of beating Lee they’re willing to ditch their own candidate. At least for now.”
Evan McMullin is no progressive. As a former undercover CIA agent, he’s very much in the mold of the late senator John McCain or President George H.W. Bush — the sort of fiscally responsible, hawkish and dealmaking conservative who, with few exceptions, has virtually disappeared from the national scene.
It’s Lee’s sycophancy to defeated former president Donald Trump and his willingness to don the cloak of MAGA extremists that provide the impetus for McMullin’s candidacy and the rationale for Democrats. As McMullin told the Deseret News: “We know that Sen. Mike Lee was quite involved in the effort to overturn our democracy. We have got to take a stand as Utahns. I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or an independent or a Republican or a member of the United Utah Party: This is a line that cannot be crossed. Our right to hold our leaders accountable and to vote for or against them and have a peaceful transition of power is essential for liberty and justice in America.” McMullin added, “We cannot compromise on that, and we must all be united to defend it.”
And this sounds like an independent or conservative that we need more of. Regardless, he's clearly better than the alternative - Mike Lee McMullin is candid that he will have policy differences with Democrats. But in his mind, that’s besides the point. His candidacy envisions a cross-partisan, cross-ideological alliance to defeat MAGA authoritarians who put Trump above country and their ideology above democracy. If he is successful in Utah, he might inspire other such collaborations.

Another terrible Republican trend www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/04/25/abbott-desantis-new-republican-perspective-on-capitalism/Now that it has ended, one way to look at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s scheme to require extra inspections of commercial trucks crossing the southern border is that it was a disaster, inane in its design and nearly catastrophic in its effects.
But when seen in combination with another governor’s attack on what conservatives used to reverentially call “free enterprise” — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s war on Disney — it looks more like the beginning of a new paradigm for Republican political economy. Central to this shift is a genuine change: Republicans are no longer accepting as a given that state actions that harm the economy — even intentionally — are necessarily politically risky
Finally, Republicans are showing that they don’t actually believe in the economic principles they claimed to hold for so long. Once you cast them aside, you’re liberated to be as vindictive as you like. Republican antagonism toward what they now call “woke corporations” has gone from bitter grumbling to state action. Critically, what arouses their ire is almost entirely brand-management efforts that involve public displays of sympathy for liberal social ideas. Which is why they’re going after corporations one at a time, not changing their fundamental views on capital. They’re still all for corporations being able to spend unlimited amounts to influence elections, the narrowest possible regulations on companies befouling the environment, the lowest corporate taxes, nonexistent enforcement of worker safety laws, and any efforts to crush collective bargaining. Such privileges, however, can and will be withdrawn from a specific corporation unless they either stay quiet or support conservatives and their vision of social retrogression.
But this is all relatively new, and the limits of the acceptable are still being tested. Abbott found that broad sabotage of his state’s economy was a terrible idea. Perhaps if he had just gone after a few “woke” avocado importers he might not have had to pull back so quickly. DeSantis, meanwhile, is basking in the glow of nationwide conservative adoration. Rest assured, other Republicans are watching carefully as they contemplate which companies they might attack in their own states. This trend is just getting started.

I did not hear correctly the other morning, but someone said that there are either 114 or 1044 special zones in Florida like Disney. Therefore long term Disney may have a winning case based on discrimination.
UPDATED: @knittingagain helped me with the numbers 1844 special interest zones!!
