Today marks the beginning of week two and Day 8 of the 28-4-28 Challenges for 2022. I am once again bringing you all things SEASONS during the month of February. The second challenge is all about SUMMER; think temperatures, holidays, colors, icons, activities, etc. How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you! Your challenge is to create a project that evokes summer; think vacation/holiday, a trip to the beach/lake, summer holidays such as July 4th or Canada Day, bright and bold colors, etc. How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you! The twist is to include stitching on your project. In my example below I used a sewing machine to stitch around the yellow patterned paper with black thread. Some other ideas would be to use a pen to draw faux stitching, or use embroidery floss to hand embroider on your project. grammadee has included an incentive for all Quarter ONE team players: If you are on a team, you can earn FIVE points for meeting this challenge, with a TWO POINT BONUS for also meeting the twist on this same project. It was not previously stated in the Quarter One challenges list, or in gramma's spreadsheet, but if you can complete ALL of the 28-4-28 challenges by the end of this quarter, you can earn a BONUS of 280 points!

Love your peaceful page, jjpeapea . Those soft colours are so calming, and I like what you did with those open letters. My LO is alot more chaotic. summer family fun by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I used this for the sketch challenge (#5) too, and needed "string" for that one, but made sure I wrapped some string for that one and then stitched the banner on the right page for the twist for this one.

P-3 inked edges plus blending (3), P-7 stickers (13), P-14 dots (1), S/I-2 rectangles (4), S/I-3 sun (1), S/I-4 diamond (1), S/I-6 hearts (5), s/I-7 tag (1), S/I-10 circles (1), C/M-7 all colours (1), T-6 layers (3), T-7 border die, wood block die (2), Th-2 vacation (1), Th-6 sports (1), N/S-3 patterns (3), N/S-4 pic sizes (7), N/S-7 cluster (1). Ryann, thank you for this bright challenge. You have love in the gallery. grammadee, you have love in the gallery on your fun family activity pages. jjpeapea, I love your letters. I can’t decide if they are double layered or if your blue was cut as outline and you filled it with patterned paper. Very pretty and very effective. Love the yellow and flowers for a bright summer day. This page couldn't have been more wild! Lots of color and I pen-stitched the clouds. Summer Day

jjpeapea It's definitely summer on your layout! Love the bright color palette and the addition of a refreshing beverage to your page. Love the mix and match alphas - always a favorite of mine! grammadee This is such a fun layout! So much movement on your pages between the photos and the embellishments. I love the pop of the yellow sun all the camping related ephemera. nylene Your layout screams summer with the bright rainbow colors and adorable faced clouds. Perfectly baby and perfectly summer - love this so much!

oh my nylene I loved making the words but the word ENJOY was done in like six minutes. It's cardstock outlines over pattern paper letters. After that I had to cut some letters over and over - the S in SUMMER was six times. I left the sticker on the back of my 12x12 cardstock (but it cut the ENJOY before it got to that area) The paper was all chewed up... and it all seemed downhill after that. But I printed the ice tea on my photo printer with Cricut Print and Cut and it turned out so good.

jjpeapea, sorry you had a hard time with your letters. I must say they look wonderful. I have a hard time filling cut files with patterned paper. It's always a bit too big, or too small and the background shows around the edge. I think you did a great job. Your iced tea turned out great with the print and cut!

Authentic Arthur by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr As mentioned in my journaling, this was a Fall day, but it was so warm I am even wearing a tank top! The weather and the bright colors feel like summer for sure.

This was Father's Day last year. There's a tiny bit of die cut stitching on the little sun, so I'm saying I met the challenge. Outtakes

UPDATED PHOTO & points totals!! Here is my final LO for the quarter (I think!). I used the sketch from January 15 Sketchy Saturday as well as working on this SUMMER challenge. UPDATE: I thought the right side was looking a little bare (plus I wanted the twist) so I added faux stitching to the layered sunshine die cuts (upper right) and one more item from Amy Tangerine's "Yes, Please!" collection for a total of 10 pieces (lower right). The pink-ish purple journaling box is adhered with a metal flower brad. Points totals amended below (in blue). Also the purple completes the final piece of the rainbow so I can use 28-4-28 #17 as well (but no twist). Finally, I forgot to count that I had used 2 pieces of washi on the lower left (above "lobster roll") so those points are added here as well (28-4-28 #23 w/twist). Summer Refreshments Final (28-4-28 #8) by Wendy M, on Flickr Points: 4 (creating & sharing 2 pages) + 4 photos (Donna challenge) + 5 (SS Jan 15) + 7 (28-4-28 #8 incl. twist) + 1 inked edges (P-3) + 2 flowered pp & flower brad (P-6) + 1 metal brads (P-9) + 2 different paper lines (P-15) + 2 sunshines (S/I-3) + 1 banner (S/I-7) + 8 rounded corners-photos & mats (S/I-9) + 1 circle (S/I-10) + 3 layers (T-6) + 1 CM circle-cutter (T-7) + 7 die cuts (T-12) + 4 marker colors (T-13) + 5 journaling (W/T-2) + 1 colored title-navy (W/T-8) + 2 vacation pages (Th-2) + 2 12x12 pages (N/S-1) + 6 different pp (N/S-3) + 2 different photo sizes (N/S-4) + 1 stitching (T-4) + 5 all colors used (28-4-28 #17) + 1 for 10 different pieces of AT/YP collection (N/S-6) + 7 two different washi tapes (28-4-28 #23 incl. twist) = 85 total

+ 1 for C/M-7 too ==> 86 total (Found another one I missed in the process of adding all my points)
