Every Monday this February, my challenges will focus on different aspects of layering on your pages/cards. Today, we are layering OVER the main/focal element. You could put a cluster or a title or an embellished photo corner over your photo. You could include something see-through like vellum or acetate. So to meet today's challenge you need to have at LEAST 1 layer UNDER *AND* 2 layers OVER part of your focal photo/card element. Look for an "empty" space where you could add a banner, a tag, a label. On the corner of my photo I have the strip of camera pp under it, and a strip of pp, a sticker, enamel dots and a pop-dotted heart over it. I also 2 hearts on the other photo, and one is pop dotted. Your twist today for 5 bonus points is to use HEARTS of course! Happy Valentines Day! layout birthday of midway by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Fun challenge, kitbop. I love pages and cards with little bits tucked under and over the focal, and I need practice reining in the part of me that wants to throw EVERYTHING at the page when I attempt it... And what a fun page! Another thing I would like to attempt is those diagonal strips at the corners.

And here is the page I came up with for this one: a cover page for my Winter album. This is why I have so much STUFF in here! A couple of years ago I was in the LSS when she was cutting a set of snowflake frames for a class. I couldn't believe all the rest of the white cs would be trashed, so asked if I could have some. At the class, she gave me ALL of them. And I KEPT them! Used both inside and outside for this page. Layered some stickers over the top of the photo and lots of layers behind. And used some of the tiny hearts left over from dgs's stenciling yesterday. Snow much fun Jump IN by Gramma Dee, on Flickr This is another TWO-fer. Going to claim this for gramma's challenge yesterday (circles and monochrome).

Sketchy Saturday 1-22-22 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr Today is my lucky day! I created this for the 4 layers under the photo challenge, but it also happens to meet this challenge (there are 3 layers on top of the right photo). And it is using a Jan sketchy saturday sketch.

I was so inspired by your LO kitbop , and I knew it would be perfect for those prom photos I was working on! So this layered LO is shamelessly scraplifted from kitbop . No hearts though, because I promised DS! "Just friends MOM!" IMG_3395 by K Mage, on Flickr

Thank you for this challenge kitbop. I love the things I am learning from the challenges. You have love in the gallery. grammadee, scrappyrabbit, and kmage you have love in the gallery. You are all so talented. This is my answer to the challenge. I had fun adding layers to the top and underneath my big photo and mats. Hearts don't really fit with Halloween, but these kids all have my heart so I sneaked in a few. Pumpkin Carving

kitbop thank you for the layering challenge. Such a fun page with so many elements and something for the eye everywhere. grammadee enjoying your twofer. Most of your layouts use lots of fun layers. Loving your winter themed embellishments. scrappyrabbit I think I know where you were, maybe someplace ladies my age should go annually? All your little touches are great attitudes and perfect layers. kmage still laughing, "we're just friends, MOM". Liking the star theme, the diagonals and the offset year. And a textured ribbon layer. nylene LOVELY! You started with an amazing photo and added so many fun and nice elements. The layered pumpkins look so great. I had trouble getting started with this one, but liked it a lot better when I started focusing on this photo. I would love to find a close match of 12x12 navy cardstock when I go to Michael's tomorrow. Then I'll trim a bit around the edges and frame it in the navy cardstock. We'll see. All the navy I had here was just the wrong shade of navy. The photo is actually slipped into the frame instead of glued down. It has a dear no-longer-with-us one's handwriting on the back.

grammadee, I love that use of negative space! scrappyrabbit, I really like "the real me", life isn't always riding bikes with flowers in baskets, is it? What a cool LO, documenting real life. nylene, I just love that little kitty on the right! jjpeapea, I also have so much trouble with navy! I want it to be just right. Your LO is darling, love that little cheerleader, but I understand needing to rework to get the right shade.

I went with a vellum layer under and a border strip with a few embellishments over. For the twist I added three little red hearts. Bon Appetite

Great challenge thanks kitbop , I am loving all of the wonderful pages that it has inspired. Here is mine. I used the current Sketchy Saturday sketch for this page, and the Chronicles Vol. 3 kit by Gina Miller.
