Am I the only one who wants more urban as I get older? As my nest empties out and I have more time I feel I need the energy of a city. Ideally I’d live in a nice house on a beautiful tree lined street but still urban and walking distance to cafes, shops, restaurants and parks. Too much to ask lol? Not at all. I used to dream of acreage, and now I want a more dense neighborhood, walkable to entertainment, dining, groceries, parks, etc. I have no desire to spend a lot of time taking care of a large yard and the like.

the snows capped mountains I miss seeing that! I used to work in one of the high rises in Downtown LA, and after a winter storm, the view of the snow capped mountains was amazing! the snow has been dissipating for the past few weeks because it's gotten warmer but the quick storm on monday brought more snow and the mountains look amazing again. it's just the uppermost level but it's nice to see the snow. i'm hoping more snow will drop this monday- wednesday with the anticipated rain.

I think this is why Manhattan intrigues me. I would love to just walk to everything. Most things are are about 5-10 miles away from me, which is not bad, but sometimes I would like to just walk somewhere for lunch or dinner.

Lately I’ve been thinking Belmont Shore in Long Beach would be a pretty ideal place to live.

I think as you age, not only having some services walking distance is an advantage, but so is a public transport system, taxi system. etc. how are you going to function when you can't drive? in cities there are delivery services, transportation systems and often more senior support and living choices.

I am pretty happy here, and I find it to be pretty affordable. I rarely use my car other than for short errands. I think most people would say our public transportation sucks, but I like it because it provides me a straight line to my office with zero stops. I'm close to most big city amenities. And I really love that I can fly to almost all major cities non-stop. So for me, my main requirements would be being close to a big airport, a diverse city, close to a variety of restaurants, and walkability/bikeability. ETA: close to good medical care

I loved it when they would have the car show. I used to live in Long Beach for a few years while going to college. Belmont Shore and Naples Island (swoon) are nice beach living.

My aunt and uncle lived on the canal in Naples but sold their house recently ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg)

When we were first married and had kids we lived in a great urban neighborhood and can't wait to get back to that lifestyle. I spent a good part of last summer in Vancouver's downtown core with DD. A few friends and one sister have sold their big family homes and moved into that area in the last couple years and it was a joy to meet for walks/lunch/dinner/shopping without needing a car or having to think about traffic.

I love our house and neighborhood but it is not walkable. I’d love to be in a more urban setting, with restaurants and shopping nearby. We were at a little French brasserie for dinner a couple of weeks ago and I said to my husband…I wish we could walk here. Just, you know…I don’t feel like cooking, let’s go down the block for a cocktail and a snack.
