Lots of Republican politicians know that Trump is unsuited for any elected office, but they are terrified of his base. I really think this is it. I will never forget Mitch McConnell saying in 2016 that if Trump was elected, he would ruin the Republican party. Yet now, he kisses Trump's a$$.

I will never forget Mitch McConnell saying in 2016 that if Trump was elected, he would ruin the Republican party. Yet now, he kisses Trump's a$$. Not as much lately. Some journalists were speculating about whether there might be a wee splintering beginning. No one knows though. McConnell is smart, and he knows that Trump is bad for his party. I believe that he would undermine Trump any way that he could, but that’s just my opinion.

Fiona Hill speaks.. Fiona Hill blames Trump’s foreign policy for turning Ukraine into Russia’s 'playground'Meaghan Ellis, AlterNet February 22, 2022 Fiona Hill, former Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council, believes former President Donald Trump's foreign policy has played an intricate role in Russia's bold invasion of Ukraine. On Monday, February 21, Hill — who worked as a Russian advisor for Trump — appeared on CNN where she weighed on the distinct differences between Trump's approach compared to President Joe Biden's. According to Hill, Trump's policy was more about concern for his own personal agenda as opposed to the United States' national interest. While Trump's campaign often pushed the message of putting America first and making it "great again," Hill argues otherwise due to what she witnessed during her time working for the former president. "There's no Team America for Trump," Hill explained. "Not once did I see him do anything to put America first. Not once. Not for a single second."Hill touched on the timeline leading up to this point as she recalled Trump's admiration for Putin and his disapproval of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). She also noted Trump's longstanding pushback against Ukraine as he relentlessly tried to obtain incriminating information on Biden and his son, Hunter. The controversy surrounding Ukraine was also a major component of the former president's first impeachment trial. "All this did was say to Russia that Ukraine was a playground," Hill said. Although Biden has made a real effort to strengthen NATO allies amid Russian adversity, Hill warned that the contention will likely last for a prolonged period of time as Russia continues its pressure campaign against Ukraine. Hill also expressed concern about the real change and the effort it will take to maintain a united front. "The real challenge is keeping everyone together for a considerable period," Hill concluded. "It's going to go on a long time." www.rawstory.com/fiona-hill-blames-trumps-foreign-policy-for-turning-ukraine-into-russias-playground/

McConnell is smart, and he knows that Trump is bad for his party. Too bad it took him so freaking long to figure that out! Just think what ol' Mitch could have done if he had shut his shit down from the beginning.

I stupidly follow a couple of my local news' facebook groups, and the comments I have read today have me so mad and downright confused. So many Trump lovers (and I live in a red state, so Trump lovers are prolific around here!) are blaming all this Russia crap on Biden, he's the worst president ever, HE is going to get us into WWIII, this would not be happening if Trump was still president, and on and on and on with that bullshit. I want to say, "REALLY?? Have you forgotten how chummy Trump was with Putin??" It's ridiculous and mind boggling. How in the heck is this Biden's fault?? It's Putin's fault. He had never made any secret about how his goal is to reunite the USSR. But this current crisis is Biden's fault?

Putin didn't have to threaten former. Former fawned all over him, jumped when Putin said jump. Former would have gladly handed Ukraine over to Putin... Remember Ukraine wouldn't do former's bidding for info about Hunter and Joe....

Add another one... Gun toting family Christmas card Rep. Massie.. says we have no business fighting for the border over there. Should be at ours... He claims we buy many things from Russia.. We do? Like what? *** Commentator on MSNBC just said the Republicans are treating Biden like a..... This makes me so angry. These Republicans aren’t stupid. They know that Putin is dangerous. Why can’t they put their country first for once? Because the $$$$$ is too good.

Hope is diminishing quickly.... Now Pompeo is praising Putin. Dishonoring West Point as far as I am concerned...probably worse than Robert E Lee .. Donald Trump and his former secretary of state Mike Pompeo are heaping praise on Vladimir Putin as the Russian president openly moves combat troops into Ukraine. *** For his part, Pompeo, who has touted Putin as "talented" and "savvy" in recent weeks, is the only living former secretary of state who has used the leadup to the Russian invasion of Ukraine to extol the Russian leader while criticizing President Joe Biden. As McClatchy notes, while former foreign policy chiefs like Condoleezza Rice have called Putin "megalomaniacal," Pompeo has praised him as "very shrewd" and "very capable." Russian media outlets have noticed, replaying clips of Pompeo's Putin praise on state TV."He is a very talented statesman. He has lots of gifts," he told Fox News last month. "He was a KGB agent, for goodness sakes. He knows how to use power. We should respect that." In another interview last week, Pompeo said, "I have enormous respect for him – I've been criticized for saying that."www.rawstory.com/mike-pompeo-2656771461/Holy f*ing shit. What the hell kind of alternate world are we living in when a former president and a former secretary of state praise PUTIN? A former member of the KJB?? A COMMUNIST??? I thought all the conservatives hate left communists??? WTAF. Nope. Apparently they worship actual communists, but when it comes to the left, they just use the label to instill fear. And I think Pompeo is planning to run for president in 2024.

Remember Ukraine wouldn't do former's bidding for info about Hunter and Joe.... This exactly. Trump would have just rolled over and given Ukraine to Trump. I can't imagine what a disaster this would be if he were still in charge. I do think Putin is taking advantage of the division in the US and counting on Boris to be distracted with the controversy with the covid parties. And new leadership in Germany. I hope cutting off Nord Stream will stop Putin, but I'm not optimistic.

In movies like Red Dawn, The Day After, The Hunt For Red October. I live a state filled with filled Cold War era missile bunkers. This is the superpower nuclear-flexing past that Putin is lamenting and trying to recreate. I remember. No thanks.

In general I dislike using the word “triggered” but honestly that’s the only way to describe what I feel when I hear that voice and the shit coming out of his mouth. Ditto. I try to pretend he just vanished in January 2021, but when I read the odd tidbit of his insanity, it's like re-living the horror of his presidency all over again. There's not enough meds to get me through it if he gets re-elected in 2024.

Nothing to be proud of here... He is beyond disgusting .. how can anyone follow him? Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday called Vladimir Putin a "genius" after the Russian president made moves to take over parts of Ukraine. Trump made the remarks during an interview with conservative podcaster Buck Sexton. We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy." Trump added: "But here’s a guy that says, you know, 'I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,' he used the word 'independent' and 'we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.' You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad." www.rawstory.com/trump-putin-ukraine/ Ukraine is already INDEPENDENT. He needs locking up. Hey Texas. here's your chance to be part of Mexico - Trump says it's ok to go into another country and pinch a bit of it and call it your own so make sure you welcome the Mexicans with open arms when they arrive. You ready to do the same Canada? Fancy Minnesota ? A little more land access to Lake Superior would be nice for you. Oooooo we could take over Canada and make it part of Alaska! 🙄

The point of my post was that Trump sees no difference in Putin entering Ukraine and taking over an independent country. Yet it has obviously never occurred to him that his way of thinking works both ways. Other countries could do the same to the US, hence my suggestion of Texas and Minnesota - both part of the US but are border states. You could get Canada to take over Alaska though.

But you could also say that Russia could say that Alaska is Independent and they want to take it. Russia is very close to Alaska
