I’ll be honest;I teared up too. And then your description of Boris and his cabinet made me laugh. 😁

I’m in awe of such bravery. While I understand not leaving, I also wonder if it’s wise to stay in Kyiv. You know Putin won’t hesitate to kill all of those brave men and possibly their families, too. What happens when the all the government leaders are assassinated? I have to assume that this has all been thought through, but wouldn’t their leaders being killed plunge the country into even more chaos?

But I’m no foreign policy expert.

All men between the ages of 18 and 60 are required to stay and fight if needed. As the mom of two adult sons and the wife of a guy in his 50s, there’s no way in hell I’d be leaving my family.

Does Zelensky have a spouse? Children? I hope his family has at least been able to escape.

It’s estimated that about 100,000 Ukrainians have already been displaced. The UN says if the fighting escalates, “they estimate that up to 4 million Ukrainians could flee.” Refugees can only escape by foot or ground transport as no civilian flights can leave.

I was checking if US troops in the border countries can somehow airlift and evacuate the Ukrainians stranded in Kyiv, but apparently, they cannot. They cannot even rescue Americans. None of our military can enter the country or its airspace as doing so will be considered a declaration of war by Russia. There’s a Florida non-profit that’s been bussing Americans and their families out of Ukraine. They said they’ll keep making trips to evacuate as many people as they can.

All we can do at the moment is continue supporting Zelensky with money and weapons. $1B has been given to aid Ukraine. And I just read there was an emergency bipartisan agreement reached in Congress yesterday for additional funding for defense of NATO allies in the region and humanitarian assistance to refugees estimated to be $10B.

Ukrainian American celebrity Maksim Chmerkovskiy is posting updates from a Kyiv bomb shelter as the Russian invasion continues.

“The situation is pretty dire,” he said in a video Friday.

Chmerkovskiy, 42, who rose to fame as a dancing pro and competitor on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” has called Fort Lee home. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine and came to New York with his family in 1994. The Latin-ballroom dancing champion is also a judge on “Dancing with the Stars Ukraine.”

You mean the latest shipment. The west has been sending shipments of arms there for. 

This was dated January 17th  but they've sent more arms since then.


Britain has begun supplying Ukraine with new light anti-tank weapons in response to “the increasingly threatening behaviour from Russia”, the defence secretary, Ben Wallace, has announced.



The ratcheting up of military support comes as the Kremlin continues to increase its troop deployment by moving forces into Belarus, which borders Ukraine to the north, and is considered the most likely route for any invasion.



“We have taken the decision to supply Ukraine with light anti-armour defensive weapons systems,” Wallace told the Commons on Monday, adding that “a small number” of British troops would provide training to help Kyiv’s forces in using them.
