Here’s another grenade. 💥I detest cheese curds. 💥 *casually strolls out* Talk about a fart in a car. sassyangel ETA: I should have added a smiley! Because the sass in that comment. So brave. 🤣 😂😂😂😂 I seriously don’t, I really tried to like them. They are very popular around here. So popular, they’ve appropriated poutine on menus here, as another excuse to use them.

The Midwest, as defined by the federal government, comprises the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. whew! I was worried, there, by the people who said they consider Missouri the South. lol. Nothing wrong with the south, but I've always considered myself a Midwesterner and would like to stay there / here. eta: and cheese curds are just 'meh' in my opinion. Unless they're breaded and fried, that is. Give me a nice, crumbly, aged cheddar any day. (where we lived growing up, there was a bona fide cheese factory at the end of our street... it was always a fun part of any holiday gathering when I got to walk down there to pick up the cheese for the relish tray, lol.)

Will I be blackballed if I admit I’ve never had a cheese curd?

Will I be blackballed if I admit I’ve never had a cheese curd? Me either! if you have a Culver's in your area, they have deep fried cheese curds on their menu. Cheese curds are pretty mild tasting; they're fresh cheese that's not pressed into a block shape so they're irregularly shaped, kind of like small chicken nuggets.

I’ve never eaten them. I love cheese, but like you, a crumbly aged cheddar is my pick.

At least here Dairy Queen has them too. and I must have missed the part where people thought Missouri was south. To me it's always been firmly midwest, but I live here so. It always startles me to see people thinking of Chicago as midwest, I think because it's such a big city I consider it more north, but geographically I can see why people would think it's midwest.

I didn't know cheese curds came any other way that breaded and fried. You can buy different flavors of them, “naked” at HyVee grocery stores. I have some in my fridge right now. I think of them as an alternative to a cheese stick as a quick protein snack. Not nearly as tasty as the breaded and fried kind, though.

I don’t actually like mozzarella sticks either. Apparently I have issues with deep fried cheese, in general. 😂
