I would have skipped buying clear epoxy embellishments that would later turn yellow, not used Yes paste to adhere my photos in the early years, passed on all the fibers and ribbons and started PL earlier. OMG the fibers and ribbons (face palm) I just got rid of huge bin last summer. Why did I buy that?!

Buy cardstock that matches when you buy the patterned paper. Some colors like pink there are so many shades ranging from peach to mauve to cherry, etc. that sometimes it gets hard to match.

Started with a smaller album size. My 12x12’s are so big and awkward. Not bought the Quickutz tool and all those dies. Put dates on my memorabilia!!! Bought the DSLR with WiFi connectivity. Not asked for a silhouette. Not bought Dylusions paints or paint pens. Used my stash, especially mixed media supplies. Bought more than one of my beloved Making Memories trimmer.Oh this times a million!!! I still have mine with the broken top guide

I agree with the "buy it if I like it/want it/need it", not because it's on sale mentality.
Buy on an as-needed basis (at least paper/coordinating embellishments)
Scrap a smaller size, while I love creating on a 12x12 canvas, the albums are a beast for stoeage and handling.

I would have bought entire collections of Basic Grey. I thought they'd be around forever, but umm, no.
I like the BG aesthetic much more than tacos and bicycles with flower basket bouquet.

Been scrapping since around 2000. Thankfully I've always kind of "known myself" so I skipped buying the trendy stuff that I knew I wouldn't use, the "sale" paper pads, etc. My craft space is limited so that helps A LOT. I've also been decent at journaling because I KNOW how much I forget over time. And I also know how much I would love to have something from my grandparents or older that had journaling in it.
But as to regrets, I too wish I'd started in 8.5x11 v 12x12. But I've got too much history in 12x12 now to go back.
I will start doing 8.5x11 when more of my 12x12 pp run out. For now, I'm resigned to the giant, hard-to-handle 12x12s - they are the catalog of our lives and I love them beyond measure.

Wish I not used patterned paper/colors I didn't like very much just because it went well with the photos. Admittedly that would've probably led to me either not making pages or making plain black and white pages because I couldn't find/make papers I loved that also went with the photos I had. I'm much happier with making photo books and using full page photos.

I would have bought more embellishments to go with papers, since now I know I can really stretch the paper stash and could use more embellishments. (And I use more embellishments now that I used to.) In the same vein (embellishments), I would have started earlier with buying individual-letter-sheet Thickers instead of trying to make various pre-made words and phrases work.

All of the above... LOL
I'm guilty of the quantity vs quality buying too and wish I hadn't been. I have learned though, and I do better now.

I wish I hadn't bought so much coloured 12x12 cardstock. I have drawers full. I figure I'll use it for die cutting but I still always reach for co-ordinated colour palettes like Spellbinders cardstock or Hero Arts.
I wish instead of unmounting all of my wood block stamps I had just sold them all and started fresh with clear stamps.
I wish I hadn't spent so much time online looking at projects and made them instead. It would have helped if I had my scrap room on my main level instead of in my basement or loft, especially when my son was small. If I had made our den my scrap room instead of keeping it looking pretty and never used, I could have used the space and got more crafting done.

2021 Texas snow storm flooded our home and led to a healthy purge of damaged and old unused stuff. My regret is too much scarcity purchasing, FOMO mindset. Or collecting, ie I needed all of the MM paint colors, etc. I still have too many rub ons and random alpha stickers. Regret the giant paper pads. I still struggle with pretty product fomo, especially Christmas. I will never use it all!
Regret the paper stacks and hanging on to specialized items too long.
LOVE my genesis trimmer - it’s over 20 yrs old and going strong! Also glad I still have some OA mini market and a few other fun retro products.
