" A Jimtown High School teacher has requested early retirement, Baugo school officials say, after he was captured on video striking a student with enough force to cause visible injuries. Baugo officials said in a press release Friday that the teacher, Mike Hosinski, is no longer with Baugo Community Schools and is not allowed on school grounds. The incident, which occurred Friday morning, has been referred to the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, school officials said Friday."
This is the SAME GUY who did this, back in 2019
"According to an NIA document posted on the organization’s website, “Hosinski has a history of state/church violations at Jimtown High School that has ranged from his teaching topics to his classroom decor.” Signs and bumper stickers hanging on the classroom walls feature a range of content from religious to anti-liberal propaganda.
In photos obtained by NIA, some of the posters and stickers found in the classroom said things like “Proud to be a conservative,” “Choose life, your mom did” and “Liberalism is a mental disorder.”..."
Hosinski told the class Hillary and Obama are criminals, President Donald Trump is great, and Democrats are liars. He told them abortion should be illegal,” the statement complaint alleged. “My student says ‘he told the class Bill Clinton’s friend takes little girls to a sex island and anyone who finds out is killed. Korea has nukes, something about Muslims taking over, and something about gay people getting married.’”..:
When these guys show you who they are, believe them and stop letting them NEAR children.

That should also be the case with police officers et al.

He may have been a great teacher in previous years, but I’m betting there were warning signs in the last several years that he was no longer fit to work with students. Shame on the school for ignoring them. I wonder if the kid’s parents will file a suit against the district.
Letting him “retire” was probably the quickest way to get him out - firing him likely would have required a hearing, and might have kept him in the classroom and on the actual payroll longer.
It’s possible he will still be stripped of his retirement if he is convicted of a crime, depending on Indiana’s laws around that. Remember also that teacher retirement systems are usually self-funded like SS, so he’s at least entitled to whatever he paid in. Maybe he can at least spend part of that time in jail thinking about how he should have retired sooner.

He needs long jail time. Jesus Christ. It’s ASTOUNDING to me that people just cannot hold these violent conservatives accountable. Violence, demeaning, screaming is their thing. |

I hope the parents file a lawsuit and get all of his pension. This is fucked up on so many levels. Did parents not see what was in his classroom? I would have been at a schoolboard meeting or contacting the principal immediately.

“The student was put on too loose of a chain,” said a parent.
“With proper administration, the situation could have possibly been prevented,” said the student.
“The kid has reportedly been expelled from Concord, from Elkhart Schools and from Jimtown Schools for the first semester. He came back in January and has been sent to the office 30 times, reportedly,” said another parent.
So the community is victim blaming.
No matter any of those thing—even if true is any reason to slap a student.

Two of my local news stations (not in the same state as the incident) specifically used the word "fired" in reference to the teacher's current employment status with the district last night. I realize I'm a "1-2-3" kind of parent anyway, but this type of abuse is not called for in any circumstance, IMHO. |

I'm very happy to read this updated news. There is no excuse ever for hitting a child. Hitting a child so hard his head bounces off the wall to the point that he collapses? That's assault. If it had been an adult who'd been hit assault charges probably would have been filed. Why haven't they here? |
