Happy tears, but tears nonetheless. I just put my son, EJ, down to bed for the last time as a baby. Tomorrow he will be a year old. He will always be *my* baby but he has quickly become a toddler.
This past year has been challenging, eye opening, rewarding, and ultimately he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Now excuse me while I scroll back to 2021 in my camera roll and relive the past year.

I can’t believe it’s been a year already. I remember when you were still pregnant and it doesn’t seem that long ago. I would have thought 6 months. Time flies. Enjoy. I can’t believe my baby is almost 19 I miss the toddler years so much.

Aw. Happy birthday, boyo.
I planned to breastfeed my kids for one year, but with both of them, at the last minute, I gave them one year and one day. After waiting rather impatiently towards the end it was just pure wistful sentiment.

Hugs to you, momma!! He's still a baby, but I get it. I'm Nannying an 11 month old right now and every day that I see her she's accomplishing SO much more! It IS like they're growing up so quickly.
Cherish each step. I used to think of it like they were chapters in my childrens' lives. Every chapter was a blessing to me and it was different. You'll get used to it and when he starts speaking to you, you'll be thrilled!!

I prefer to keep my sons digital foot print low so forgive me for not posting his picture often. Here’s a toddler toes photo!

Aw. Happy birthday, boyo. I planned to breastfeed my kids for one year, but with both of them, at the last minute, I gave them one year and one day. After waiting rather impatiently towards the end it was just pure wistful sentiment. I was all set to nurse for a year and he quit at 10 months! I begrudgingly pumped for a month until I got the all clear from his doctor to go to whole milk.

Every day is an adventure and every day he learns something new. Today it was the joys of an empty wrapping paper roll after I wrapped his birthday gifts.

It doesn't seem like a year ago that we were following your journey through a difficult pregnancy, let alone his birth! Happy birthday EJ, and happy birth day to you too. Is he doing well now? Are you well?

Ahhhh, the scroll through the camera roll. There’s nothing quite as heartwarming and painful at the same time.
Happy year two to both of you!

I think you were misinformed. You can still call them babies until they’re like five. Two at the VERY least. Happy Birthday, baby!

He'll always be your baby boy. It is bittersweet, but I think you are entering some of the most fun months. Everything new is so exciting to him.

I’ve always thought that the mamas should be celebrated just as much on birthdays. This next year will be so much fun as you really see his personality develop and see him interact with the world.
The days are long but the years are short. Happy day to you both.

Are you well? Pregnancy wasn’t difficult at all and quite enjoyable for me! Labor and delivery was difficult and likely the reason I’m only having one child. He’s doing great, cruising around on furniture and babbling away. He loves to play peek a boo and stack his stacking cups. I’m doing well too, sleeping well and enjoying my time at home with him.

That was one of the disappointing things about deciding to not have a big birthday party this year, I feel like it’s the only year mom and dad get celebrated as well!

I can’t believe he’s already a year old! Where does the time go? Before you know it he’ll be starting preschool, then the next thing you know he’ll be heading off to middle school. Ask me how I know, LOL. I can’t believe my kid is in 6th grade, it feels like only yesterday we were moving into this house with our newly turned two year old—and that is coming up on a decade ago now!

Happy birthday to EJ! Love the baby toes picture. All my kids are in their 20's now, but I still have my "baby". He might be 21 yrs old and 6'7" but still.

How can he be one already? I love “watching” Pea babies grow up. I’ve seen a lot in over 20 years. One of my favorite things about this board.
I have an only child, that has an only child. Enjoy those special moments, mama. Time goes by so fast when it comes to our “babies”.
