I’ll start off by saying I’ve sent a message to my doctor’s office but until I get a response I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this. I got the first dose of Shingrix vaccine on Monday. Arm was only very mildly sore that day. The next day I had all the side effects symptoms listed on the website (sore arm, headache, chills, muscle aches, fever, etc). Those were all gone by yesterday except the sore arm. Instead of improving, the redness and soreness of my arm have gotten worse each day. The actual injection site is still only mildly red and sore, but a couple of inches below it is a spot that’s red, hot to the touch, and has grown every day since Monday to the point where it’s most of my upper arm today (Thursday). Anyone else have this happen and if so when did it resolve? Or is my arm about to fall off? 😄 My arm was sore about a week after Shringrix.

So what did your doctor say about your reaction finsup ? Hope you're doing better. Hi, I am better, thank you! The area is even bigger today but less red and hot. Doctor said it is a local reaction that I don’t need to be concerned about (especially since all other symptoms resolved). She also said there’s no contraindication to getting the second shot when I’m due but to expect it will likely happen again. I feel very reassured between that and hearing from other here that many people have had similar experiences. Thank you for that. Getting the shot is on my to do list also. Now I know I shouldn't be too concerned if it gets a little worse than others.

I reacted to this vaccine far more than any other I have received. I have only gotten the first shot so far. My arm was sore for 4 days and I had a red patch too. No fever. All better now.

I don’t want my post to discourage anyone from getting the vaccine….I’ve had shingles once and it suuuuucked. I still would happily get the shot. Lots of people don’t get any side effects at all. Not only am I protecting myself but my soon to be born granddaughter and it’s worth this temporary annoyance. Thanks for all your good thoughts! I totally agree with you! Before having my first shingles shot my Dr said that I may have symptoms like covid symptoms but they usually clear up in 2 days. Some people have longer lasting symptoms but are usually gone by day 10. I had my shot and never even had a sore arm!!! I go for my second one next month. Last Saturday I was at a retirement dinner. The woman next to me (63 years old) was wearing her sun glasses. She told me that she had shingles in September! She had blisters all over her face and scalp at that time. She went to the hospital to get checked out. The ER said it wasn't shingles and thought she had an allergic reaction to her hair dye. They sent her to the hospital burn unit! A nurse took one look at her and said it's shingles! She was then tested and sure enough, it was shingles! She had nerve damage on the left side of her face, near her eye. She is almost blind in that eye now. She can no longer drive. She still has so much pain in that area that she wakes up every night from it and has to put cold compresses on it to stop the pain. She said that she has meds that she will have to take for the rest of her life because of this. If that's not enough to scare you into getting the shot, I don't know what will. I'd rather experience some side effects than having to go through what this woman is going through.
