I didn't catch that my XM would "automatically renew"--I usually call before it renews. But it renewed a few days ago at 24.71 for the month! I don't think so...
My other car which is on a different account (and different ending date/credit card number) is 8.23. Both include all taxes, etc.
Usually I can pay up front for 6 months/1 year and/or get it for about $5-$6 per month.
I'll go off to google but has anyone renewed recently for a good price?
Whenever I call I have to "threaten" to cancel even though they thank me for being a loyal subscriber since 2004 lol

My dh works for SiriusXM. He says that agents are now being instructed to just give people the best available price when they call. They're not supposed to make you go through the whole 'threaten to cancel' process anymore. Hopefully you find that to be true when you call  . |

I renewed at the very end of December. I pay $7.50/monthly for the year. This is the first time I’ve paid monthly. Usually it’s in 6 month installments.

Yes, just renewed--only took 7 minutes. (They used to drag this out for 20+ minutes)
So first he gave me their "very best" deal "because I'm such a loyal customer...) of 5.99 + taxes, etc.
I said "some of my friends get it for 4.99" + tax, he said "let me check to see what else we have."
And like magic I got it for 4.99 per month + fees/taxes for a year. ($6.86 per month including fees/taxes).
Should have had him to that for my other car that I'm paying 8.23 but I'm not that motivated.

It has changed since I originally started using it (for free with a new vehicle). I just have to make sure that I put the date on the calendar or they charge a lot for the lapse in payment. |

i think DH pays around $7/month but that includes that extra charge for being able to listen to it on your desktop. at least that's what he tells me.

My annual subscription expired in January. I called to see if I could get the same deal I had which was $8 for a year. They said no. The deal at that time was $6 per mo for 6 months but it wasn't the platinum package that I had. I'm not interested in going thru the hassle of haggling 2 times per year so I cancelled. Well SiriusXM caved before me.  Just last week I got an email offer for $6 for 12 months, free upgrade to the platinum package and a free echo dot. So I called and re-subscribed. That's better than I asked for two months prior so I feel like I got the better end of the deal. |

I had it free on my new car from last August for a few months. I let the free one lapse. I'm thinking of subscribing though. If I call as a "new" customer will they give me the "best deal"? Thanks.

I didnt have to threaten to cancel, I just said thst the price they were charging me wasnt in the budget. I think I got it for around 5-7 dollars a month

I renewed in Dec and got it for $5/ mo for 12 months. Also they told me that would be a PERMANENT price and I no longer would have to call each time to renew. I hope that is true but I will be checking my CC bill in Dec.

Thanks so much for mentioning this. I just received my bill. They were going to charge me almost $300 per year. Called and now it's less than $100 for the year. As much as I despise mainstream radio, I was ready to cancel my account.

I'm paying $7-something/mo including taxes and fees. I just renewed a week or so ago and that was the best I could get the guy to offer. I'm paying about a dollar more than I was before.  |

Last time I called I had to go through the whole spill about it costing me $200/year. I told them that I had been paying $60/year and if they could do that I would renew, otherwise just to cancel. She went through several more prices before she finally did the $60/year.

My premium subscription was $27.91 per month, including the fees. I used the online chat option on the web site today, and it was super easy. The person helping me offered $4.99 per month for the basic package, and $8.99 to keep the premium service I already had. I chose to keep the premium and my new monthly total will be $10.91.

OK, I just did the chat after reading here again. I was due to get billed later this month and got the price way down for the Platinum plan I already have. It was actually very easy; agent came back on very quickly and immediately told me I was eligible for a good rate for the year. All I had to do was ask for a lower rate. .So I just have to do it again in a year - hope they continue to make it easy.
I do think they should just set their fees at one rate for each type of plan so people don’t have to do this.
