Truckers not happy again today... "Truck drivers with the so-called “People’s Convoy” boxed in a white Tesla on Saturday afternoon, sparking a clash with fellow truckers. A lead convoy participant, who goes by the alias 'Sasnak' on YouTube, captured a video of truckers boxing in the car near the Frederick, Maryland area after the freeway driver in question allegedly brake-checked convoy-goers," Zachary Petrizzo reported for The Daily Beast. Honestly, I grew up in Los Angeles and spent 6 years in the Bay Area - both places with horrendous traffic. That said, California drivers are kittens compared to DC Metro drivers. Don’t fuck with us and don’t fuck with our commutes with your big rigs to make some kind of “statement,” or you will receive pushback from cyclists and electric vehicle drivers - oooooh, scary! I would drive in SF any day, every day, over driving in downtown DC.
The truckers need to go someplace where someone cares - maybe go parade in front of Ted Cruz’s house in TX. They aren’t making a grand stand here, like they did in Canada. No one cares. No politicians other than the right-wingers that already support them are going to meet with them.
All the truckers are doing is burning a non-renewable energy source and polluting the environment to make a political statement that not even their supporters are clear about. That is their right, of course, because they are privileged enough to live in a representative democracy. But, they aren’t the heroes fighting against “the man” that they imagine themselves to be.

As a resident of the same city Ted Cruz inhabits, I’m going to say no to that. And also, Houston traffic takes a backseat to almost no one. They’d be pretty sad sitting and going nowhere on the 610 west loop near the 69 interchange, and chances are if they tried to box someone in, they’d get shot, since any idiot can carry a gun here. Or they can visit I-10 between Katy and Houston, which averages 22 lanes across and is still packed full of cars all day long. |

As far as I can tell, they're basically protesting, in an expensive, ineffectual fashion, that uneducated, loud-mouthed, white, male, slobs don't feel as if they run the world anymore. That, and they're using it as an excuse to get away from "the old lady" and hang with their kind for a while. Not surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be much sympathy for them.
My apologies to the intelligent, hard-working, decent truckers out there. I don't think these guys are that.
