Always thoughtful questions! I will try to keep my answer shorter than the truth of it all but it will still be a convoluted path!
I kept scrapbooks of memorabilia since I was a child. One day at a craft show around 1997 or so I saw a Creative Memories Album. I loved the concept but the price was cost prohibitive. I had lots of photo albums and scrapbooks to convert to that style and that was a big fat no.
Then I saw a scrapbook kit that Memory Makers put out. It had an awful album, a shapes template, a pair of deco scissors, some stickers and a couple of die cuts with white pages no page protectors. I asked for it for Christmas. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I decided to start on my Air Force album. That went poorly and I put it all aside.
In 1998 we got a Michaels and they had an aisle of Paper Pizzazz paper books 8.5x11, and some other punch out titles and stickers. I visited there pretty often. I still didn't know what I was doing. A friend asked me to a CM party and I went and made a sample page but did not buy anything. I wasn't wanting to scrap that size. I wanted to scrap 8.5x11 because the patterned papers at Michaels were that size.
Around 1999 I saw a commercial on TV for a scrapbook store about an hour away. I had no idea where it was located. I got out the phone book to look at a map and saw an add for scrapbook store in my area. I went up there and became a regular customer. Around 2000 or 2001 I started working there part time, and I went to my first convention. I won the Grand Prize there in the layout contest. By this time scrapbooking was everywhere with several scrapbook magazines. I got picked up by Memory Makers a few times.
We got the internet somewhere along the way and I found DMarie and I forget what else, plus some yahoo email groups. Eventually the message boards led me to 2 Peas. Everyone I knew who scrapbooked was there. I hung out mostly on SBR. I despised the creation of the Pub board and the attitudes there. I knew a lot of peas in person. I have no idea what year that was, but it was several years before the pub board.

I think I started scrapbooking around middle school. I distinctly remember keeping all of the notes a friend had written me and our (looking back now, insane) ridiculously silly sayings, thoughts, and asking if the other could hang out that weekend. I wonder whatever happened to that book... I then had another through high school - first concert ticket and stuff like that. No idea where that one is either. Probably under my bed at my parents' house. Since then, though, I've mostly done event or trip scrapbooks. I have one that's our wedding/honeymoon (that should probably be in two books because it's sort of cumbersome); and then I scrapbook all of the trips my husband and I take. One's larger than others because we spent more time in Chicago than we did for an overnight trip to Norfolk (eventually, we'd like to do a trip that is even longer than Chicago was [3 days/about 15 sites], so I can only imagine how much fun that will be to both take and scrapbook). Apart from that, I don't scrapbook the day to day, though I always say I am. I'm also working on redoing our wedding cards into a scrapbook and a ticket scrapbook that's really 2 (one hockey, one all the other ticketed events we've gone to).In terms of 2peas, I was never on the original site. I was just looking for ideas/inspiration, and this site came up as one of the results and here I am. (And I've never used CM stuff, but I have been eyeing up their 6"x12" page flaps.) Off-topic, I love that you're doing a hockey scrapbook, rymeswithpurple ! I have a whole collection of pictures and other keepsakes & tickets from the Caps cup run in 2018 that I'm going to make into an album - ya know, when I finish the 6 or 10 projects I'm currently working on, LOL. But it is in the planning stages. Haha! There are just too many games we've gone to fit them into the other ticket book, so they get their own. I think we only went to 2 games throughout the playoffs that year, and my husband still gets pouty that he didn't go to the parade. I need to work on that one. Maybe I'll work on it this weekend. I still need to print mini game summaries.

I can't remember if I started stamping first or scrapbooking. All I know is that the stamping did not really stick as a hobby but scrapbooking did. For years I would only do a December Daily and travel journals for our Summer trips. I didn't have time for much more. This started around 2001.
I was on the forums at 2peas in a bucket a lot after I got bored with the stamping BBS boards (I have no idea what they were called but it was more basic than this platform). When they closed, some super awesome person emailed me a link to 2peas refugees and said to join. I wish I knew who that was because I'm very grateful.
I finished my dissertation in September so since then I've had more time to pursue this hobby so I'm around a lot more.
I used to only come here for the December Daily Megaaaa thread or to pop in once a while and see what was new.

I was watching TV in Dec 2019 as I recovered from heart surgery. I saw a scrapbook thing on TV selling a kit or something, and thought about pictures I had taken on our Hawaii vacations in '98 & '99. I visited Lasting Memories in Lynnwood, WA and was shown different tools and supplies. I learned my first 2 rules of scrapbooking; 1. Bring money, 2. There are no rules. At the time we were living in a motorhome, so my work area was an 18"X30" table. I was invited to use their classroom area whenever there were no classes. The advantages were many; I had a large area to work, supplies were right there, and store staff were very helpful. Oh, and being a newbie guy in a girls venue didn't hurt either, service was always great at any of the LSS's, big box - not as much.

I was invited to a scrapping session with 2 coworkers that had discovered Creative Memories. I was so excited to be included, I researched what I needed, assembled a newly kit, with all my supplies fitting in an under-the-bed tote. That was 1999. Shortly after that I discovered Stampin Up through my sister-in-law and the rest is history.
It's been over 20 years, so I honestly can't remember how I discovered Two Peas. I would guess that is was because I was an early adopter of online shopping, I discovered the store first and then dipped my toes into the message board, in 2001. I know I was shopping the store before that 2001 date.
ETA: I should add that I made traditional scrapbooks as a kid, modeled after scrapbooks that my mother and grandmother has from their childhoods. I used to pour over their scrapbooks, looking at old pictures, cards, letters, political patches and buttons, and so much more.

I made my first scrapbook in 7th grade in one of those sticky photo albums using photos clippings from magazines. I still have it but I wish more than anything I’d kept going and had books from high school and college. In the early 90’s I remember attending one CM party with my mom who had a friend who was super in to it. I don’t remember us buying anything. I kind of forgot about it until I was getting married in 2003 and wanted to do a scrapbook about me and my husband and our friends who were in the wedding. I bought a bunch of supplies around that time and remember there were a bunch of LSS ( breetheflea I remember the Paper Zone too. Loved that place). I even bought stuff for our wedding album and our honeymoon album but I got home and knew pretty quickly I’d made a mistake. I never made those albums. After that, I thought about it off and on and made some baby books for friends but it was always a one-off project for someone else. I often wish I had known there was an online community because I think I would have stuck with it if I had known. Around 2012 Julie Fei-Fan Balzer was showing her Project Life albums on her blog and I got completely hooked and I’ve been a hardcore scrapper ever since. I started with January 2013 and I’ve never stopped. I love being able to capture my everyday. I have an awful memory and scrapbooking has been the best thing. I shopped on the original 2peas likely via Google search and loved the garden girl videos. Shimelle and Scrappy Jedi were my favorites. I didn’t do much with the forums. I can’t remember exactly but there use to be a craft gossip site and I stumbled on and them after the original site closed and from there I found the peas. Maybe smack something? I was a lurker for a long time before I felt brave enough to make my first post. I’ve learned so much from this site and I’m grateful to have found you all.

When I went to the local fabric/craft store one day I spied a CK magazine. It came home with me that day in 1997 and the rest is history. We were empty nesters at that time and I had completed my degree so I had a fair amount of time to surf the net. I was a lurker on the original 2Peas and a participant in the early message boards/forums. Back in the late 90’s the local CM consultant was strict. Because I had read/seen so much in the sb world I didn’t participate in more than 2 classes. I enjoyed purchasing some of their tools. It didn’t take long for lss’ to crop up and online shopping was available. Now my space looks like it’s own store. Lol

I was in high school, trying to earn a medallion at my church. One of the projects was about documenting your life. A scrapbook store opened in 1995 and the rest is history. I knew very little about Creative Memories besides buying some stickers from a consultant who was not pushy in any way.
I'm not sure how I found 2 peas. Google search? From the Creating Keepsakes website? I know I joined in 2004.

I had a summer job at a public defender's office in New Hampshire in 1999 while my husband was working in NY, so I was alone a ton; that was the summer I picked up both scrapbooking and quilting, since I had so much free time (nature was beautiful but there wasn't a ton to do).
When I got back to NY, it was hard to get scrapbooking supplies from brick-and-mortar stores (there were some stamp stores in the city but not scrapbooking stores, unless you went out to Staten Island), so I started looking online, and started ordering from 2Peas.

I was at work and pregnant with my first child and I was complaining to a coworker that I couldn't find a baby book that I liked. She invited me to a CM party. I loved what they were doing and I bought an album and tools.
I quickly found the scrapbook section at Michaels and then a CK magazine. I was wowed by the magazine and went looking for 2peas because I saw an ad in the mag. That was probably around 2002.

i want so bad to remember how i found 2peas. i think i just stumbled on the site when i was googling some scrapbook stuff.
i have always crafted in one form or another. way way back in the early 90's when people were doing those fabric albums, i tried it out and it all just kind of evolved from there. i shifted far away from the fabric albums and stayed with paper from then on. then the SB boom happened and there was so much products available from tons of companies releasing them. man, those were the days! i hoarded, as we all hoarded, but i still papercraft today.

- My hairdresser was running late. I found a copy of CK magazine in the waiting area. Got a little excited. I have always loved to do crafts.
- Discovered there was a SB store not too far from my house.
- Bought myself a Cropper Hopper JR to put "all my stuff". HA! That didn't last long.
- Joined the CK message board. They spoke of the "Veggie board". I went to look around, but did not really stay.
- Finally I got bored of the CK board and went to 2peas and stayed. The gallery had so much good stuff!
- The End.
ETA: I remembered my very first scrapbook page, I cut the picture into a circle. Ewww. It was the original, with no idea where the negatives were/are.

I forgot the "How I found 2 peas" part. When I first got interested in scrapping I was told to look on line for groups and went on splitcoast.com and just did not fit in. Then I bought a Memory Maker mag and found a really great forum. As a novice at that time I was in awe of some of those women. I learned there was more than just paper and glue, and there was more than just scrapbooking, and not everything had to fit in a book- you could hang it on a wall, or just use the wall and not use paper at all. That's when I learned what was meant by "NO RULES". I made a ton of friends, still contact some thru cards and on other forums, a few here. When MM shut down, about a year after the mag stopped issuing, I looked around and found a few others. Scrpbook.com, cre8, 2 peas, and 2 or 3 others I can’t remember, many closed down. Then I became a Fiskateer, what a time we had with that. The forum was awesome. I got to actually meet other scrappers from other parts of the country in person. Not just sales people, but actual paper, scissors, glue and scrap people. The kind with messy craft areas. And we all wore Orange. When that ended, as all things must, I found the refugees and peace was restored, and more fun began.

In 2017, with a 3 year old and another baby on the way, I decided I needed a planner to keep various doctor's appointments, tasks, and to-lists in one place. As I was looking up planners, I fell down the decorative planning rabbit hole on Facebook and Instagram. However, as time went on, I found I was less interested in the planning as I was about decorating and memory-keeping. As I have so many photos that I wanted to get off of my phone and into photo albums, I decided to dip my toe into scrapbooking. I think I was Googling manual die-cutting machines that led me here and I'm so glad it did!

My grandmother made scrapbooks - the kind with cut outs from magazines and little drawings and quotes and things. TBH I hated them as a kid. I didn't really relate to what she chose for me although now I treasure the books she made about her own life and appreciate what she was trying to do to relate to her grandkids. I always loved photo albums and collecting ephemera but for a long time I didn't have the money to pay to develop photos, especially when it turned out that half of the photos were duds. When I moved to Japan in '98 I had great things to photograph, money to pay for developing, and a need to document a huge change in my life, so I went nuts. I created some simple albums in sketchbooks, but they were mostly just photos. When we moved to Seattle in '02 I got into rubber stamping and eventually a lot of other crafts. I made albums of all of my Japan photos using post bound albums and lots of photos on a page and almost no embellishment. I'm allergic to MLMs and sales parties (and parties in general!) so I never got anywhere near any of that, didn't even know it existed, and I was never a fan of the scrapbooking I saw in magazines. I didn't really identify with the average "scrapbooker" and my authentic style has always been simple and unembellished however much I have admired and tried other styles. I somehow found Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and Project Life and Shimelle and Jill Sprott, possibly through Instagram and/or the Paperclipping RoundTable (who knows how I found that!) and then I signed up for my first 2Peas class with Jill Sprott just before the site closed down I think. I don't think I knew there was a forum though. I found this place from chatting on Studio Calico and eventually came here to bitch about Studio Calico

I went to a Creative Memories party hosted by a friend. I was newly married, no kids and a teacher. So my first official scrapbook page that I ever did was of my students. I was hooked on scrapbooking after that party and spent so much money on supplies.
Then I started getting bored with the CM style and started searching the internet for more. I found two peas not long after (this was in 1998 or 1999) and the world of the Garden Girls. Ali Edwards was the first name on the list and I was blown away by her style at the time. I remember going down the rabbit hole of checking out all of the Garden Girls work that day. Scrapbooking changed from a hobby to an obsession I’ll admit. I mean how many of us dreamed about getting that email from Kristina asking you to be a Garden Girl lol
