It’s been 4 weeks tomorrow since I fell down my steps. I feel like I’ve been doing well pain wise and moving around. But today I’ve done nothing but sleep and this afternoon I started hurting like I did week 1.
I looked online and I found a few articles that say it does hurt at 4 weeks when the bones start healing but I’d feel better hearing it from someone who has been through it or knows about it.
PS I’m so tired of sleeping on the da*n couch and can’t wait until I can lay in my bed again! Lol

I had fractured ribs from the DUI accident. It hurt for a long time. I remember cold/wet made it worse as well as if I did too much during the day. And when I would sneeze and cough for awhile. I don't remember it being a certain time frame but yeah for years they bothered me.

The sleeping thing is throwing me off. I would alert on call physician or nurse advise line about that if that is new.

I just try to rest when I’ve done it.

I broke some ribs in a car accident about 20 years ago, so the exact details are a bit hazy now...but I had pain for a long time. Initially I only had 3 days of work and then felt ok enough to go back, but I think it was at the end of either week 2 or 3 that the pain got a lot worse. I spoke to a doctor at work and he suggested I start taking regular anti-inflammatory pain mediation, which did help. However from what I recall the pain was there for around 3 months, I remember not being able to push up to get out of bed and I had to sort of roll out onto to my knees first and then gradually stand up, I also used to get a severe muscle spasm/cramp on the affected side if I moved too quickly or the wrong way. It was a miserable time for several months, then it just gradually started to get better.

When I broke my ribs it hurt a lot for 3 months. The first month I had a hard time sleeping because I couldn't find a position that didn't hurt. It seriously took almost an entire year until I didn't feel any discomfort. I remember having to do the roll, too. That was my exact technique for getting out of bed. I pretty much use that as my gauge for how painful something is- I've only had one thing in my life that hurt more than that.

I went through this twice last summer - two different ribs, two different bike accidents. I still feel twinges from time to time.
