Welcome to the new quarterly 2022 Organized 2PeasRefugees scrap challenge. It does not matter where you are in your journey of organizing you are welcome to join us and do a little or do a lot! Find a system that works for you and your space. How do you scrap and shop your supplies? Is your space tiny or a whole room? Do you live with special considerations such as flooding or dust? There is not one way that is better than another, just what is best for your style and needs! Do you need to see your stash to use it? Or does it need to be protected from little hands, paws, or dust? This challenge is to encourage you to work towards a more organized crafting life, so that you can find what you purchased when you want to use it! My best rule of thumb is that it should not take more than three moves to get to what you want to use on your project. If you are on a team for the team challenges you can claim 10 points for each hour spent. The time does not need to be consecutive. Bonus of 1 point for each before and after photo. The following tasks will count towards the crafting organization: • Cleaning up after your latest crafting session (ie desk before, desk after) • Scrubbing or vacuuming the floor in your space. Dusting your space (I live in the desert next to a dirt road and own four German Shepherds, so this is a regular task) • Organizing a supply or completely re-doing your entire space. • Sorting, editing, backing up, or ordering photos. • Setting up page kits for photos or organizing the ones that you get as a monthly subscription with photos. • Essentially anything that is related to crafting that needs to be done to “spark joy”! (I’m not necessary a huge Marie Kondo fan . . . but she does have some good ideas!) Scrapbook related Bonus, 20 points for each hour. Organize anything PAPER! New purchases, scraps from completed projects, totally re-doing your system, or purging! Non-Scrapbook related Bonus, 20 points for each hour! I can imagine that everyone needs to go through a drawer or cabinet or two in their KITCHEN. I know I certainly do! Do one cabinet or drawer a week and by the end of the quarter you will have a well organized kitchen! Last week I did the measuring spoons, whisk, measuring cups, etc drawer. Just by chance and ended up recycling 120 bread tags . . . keep 10 because the are great for labeling charger cords and other cords for electronics.
All of my kitchen drawers and cabinets could use a good clean-up/sorting. Plus some of my items will go to the new teeny tiny cabin in MN. Mostly glass, because I won't have a dishwasher and glass cleans up much better than plastic, knowledge learned when we first started camping in our motor home . Other wise I think it will be paper plates for me at the cabin. I would rather use my duplicates from here, than purchase new items. The gas alone is going to be a killer on pocket book!

Question so I get this right this time - Example if I spend 1 hour cataloging my stamps I will get 10 points for the hour, plus and additional 20 points for the Scrapbook related bonus? But if I spend an hour cleaning (ie dusting vaccuming etc) I would just get the 10 because I am not really organizing scrapbook related items.
Example 2 I am gathering household items and packing them to give to a Lodge that has an annual garage sale, would this count as 20 points for the Non Scrapbook Related bonus.
Thank you MB

Hello MARIBETHR The 20 bonus points per hour this quarter are for organizing PAPER, but you would still get the 10 points per hour for the cataloging your stamps. If the household items that are from the KITCHEN would count for the NSBR bonus of 20 points per hour. Other areas of the home have either been covered, or will be covered in the future. Like in the past we've done linens, books, etc.

Nope the stuff I am giving away have been packed in garage/sheds forever however many are kitchen items...oh well missed out on points there but at least I get to get rid of lots of items.

Saving my space so I can add in what I accomplished Friday/Saturday. I will come back later today; I have church, then a break, then Bible study.

I just have to stick to my goal and do one drawer or cabinet a week during the quarter. When I break it up like that it won't seem as daunting!

I did two hours of cleaning in my craft room on Sunday. I have a during and after picture. During AfterI have a lot more to do since I need to un-bury the spare bed up there before the end of the month.

Awesome justjac I've finished my SVG project - claiming a total of 12 hours. I've been downloading mostly free SVGs and cutting files since I got my Cricut back in 2011...I wasn't very discriminating at first and I certainly wasn't very organised. refugeepea both inspired me and gave me an idea for how to organise. Now each file is in a clearly labelled folder (grouped by theme/type) with a visible picture of what it is. Plus I got rid of SO many ones that I'll never use. I'm down to 452 from well over 2000 (I didn't count from the beginning of the project so it was higher). Hopefully I'll USE my Cricut more now.

angel97701 I wish I didn't let things get so messy that it took hours to get it company ready! Linda that is great. My digital supplies are in folders with the name of the collection, but that doesn't always help me find things. Getting rid of stuff that is just taking up space is such a good idea, whether it's digital or physical.

Thanks angel97701 and justjac - I went ahead and cleaned up my scrapbooking folder tonight as well - deleted a bunch of stuff I'll never use, moved out some stuff that didn't belong, found more SVGs (lol), and organised what was left. Adding 2 more hours

I'm claiming nine hours from today and three from yesterday. Photo organising counts, right?
I've transferred files from 14 camera cards to my computer (10 of them required an additional step of downloading to a laptop and moving to a flashdrive first) and put them in folders by month/year. I then went through all the scanned photos from 1984 from my mum - identified and labelled with people, place, date...there was research involved for some of them. I also went through the unidentified photos folder (photos where I don't have a year yet) and managed to get about a dozen identified.

It is tax crunch time around here, and since my craft room has taken over my office, the two aspects get pretty mixed up over the course of a few months. Yesterday and today I extricated documents I needed to use, and stowed away the ones I just need to keep. That revealed the mess of scrappy pot pouri that had become mixed up with the papers in that corner. So I spent a couple of hours this morning sorting and putting away buttons and metal embellishments, twine and ribbon, some random pp scraps and PL cards, a couple of stamp sets, flowers, and brads. Found a couple of envelopes of cute little RAK's I have received over the year, and then located the larger envelope of things my crafty friends have gifted me in the past. Haven't gone through these precious things yet, but the first thing I saw were some cute little stamped, coloured & diecut monsters that joblackford had sent me. That is where the work ended and the play began. Ended up with the perfect card for dgs who broke his arm last week. When the glue dries, I will pop a pic of it into the Gallery.

That’s so fun grammadee! And a really great use for the “this sucks” one. Love the little bits you added to customize them. Hope the little guy heals quickly.

Well earned 20 points today for cleaning out drawers in my kitchen. Starting small! Have a bunch more to do, but doing one a week, makes it seem really doable, rather than trying to do the entire kitchen in one fell swoop. Any extra stuff is either being donated, OR going to stock the new teeny tiny cabin. I have to be very judicious about what can fit in that kitchen! No dishwasher, so thinking things that are super easy to wash in the sink. Even considering digging out, cleaning up and reseasoning some of the cast iron pans I have. With those you don't wash, you use salt and wipe them out. Plus I don't have to worry about weight like in our motor home!

I finally got all of my mum's 1999 photos labelled - with people, places, dates to the best of my ability...I used layouts I made back in the early 2000s, research, asked my sister, matched up labelled photos with unlabelled ones from the same event...there area a few that just have names and a vague 1999 date but most have names, places (either a city/state or something more exact), and an approximate date if not an exact one.
Claiming another 12 hours over the weekend for this including sorting through my scrapbooks of mum's photos and purging/reorganising

Since my crafting mojo is missing . . . DS issues, the kitchen cabinets are taking precedence, as it is a pretty mindless activity. I have 10.5 hours logged with 11 of my cabinets and storage areas done in my kitchen. As I go through I throw away expired items, consider what can go to the cabin, and determine what should be donated. It's kind of gratifying. I also clean the woodwork inside and out so eventually by the end of the quarter I should have a sparkling clean kitchen? We will leave for the cabin sometime mid-May, that is if the ice is off the lake and the water is turned on at the cabin!

Oh my goodness Linda, are you not blurry-eyed yet? Way to go on all of your Mum's photos. I did another cabinet, and figure I am about 1/3 of the way through, which is about right since I made it a 3 month challenge, LOL! Actually spent part of the weekend away with my mom at a local World Mark Resort, so doing one cabinet was all I could manage!
