My daughter is in her last year of middle school and her art teacher said that next year she will be teaching a scrapbooking class.
Bummer she will miss it but the teacher would LOVE to have any scrapbook supplies that you could send.
She says she'll be doing paperbag scrapbooking.
I'm going to go through my stash and put together some supplies.
If you've been looking for a place to donate and don't mind paying shipping, it would help out a lot. The teacher has very little budget to spend on supplies.
Our county is pretty mixed but still has a very high population of kids in poverty and many of the kids are on free lunch at the school. Anything will help!
I'll post the address later today. I need to get the spelling of her name.

I’d love to send along some things. It would prob help to have a general idea of what they might use - not sure if letter stickers or random stamps or PL pocket cards are useful or not, for example, so any guidance helpful. Happy to have some place to donate to that I know will use things!

Ok, here is the address:
Mountaineer Middle School c/o Tiffany Schap (Art) 991 Price St. Morgantown, WV 26505
She really doesn't have anything right now. I think alphabet stickers would be great. I don't know about stamps as they would need stamp pads. I'll have my daughter ask her tomorrow. But I think journal cards would be great as the kids could use them as-is or cut them up.
I've never made a paperbag scrapbook before but I looked them up and they look really cool.
Thank you!

I would love to donate. Can anyone recommend a budget friendly shipping method? TIA I would go to the post office and see if it can be shipped slower and therefore cheaper. I just read about media mail and it's not allowed, unless you make a "book" out of it all.

I would love to donate. Can anyone recommend a budget friendly shipping method? TIA I think USPS flat rate will be the cheapest unless you are really local and you can still ship priority mail but can do bigger boxes for less. USPS parcel select is ok but the weight of SB supplies might make flat rate a better choice.

I would love to donate. Can anyone recommend a budget friendly shipping method? TIA www.pirateship.com/ Is great way to save money. You get commercial pricing. You print out the label and then either drop off a post office or request a home pickup.

I’ve a lot of excess dies cuts- most are addictive shapes. Would those work for the project?

I put together a 3-4" tall stack of PL cards, but haven't hit the 12x12 paper yet. I know how fast the kids will go through it though!

If they are just the paper, then definitely yes. Any word on stamps? I have the library type roller stamps I can send. My daughter has reported back that the teacher does not have any stamp pads so stamps are out. BUT, I think roller stamps would be cool. Maybe I could buy her a few black stamp pads to keep it simple because I think the kids would have a lot of fun with roller stamps. Thank you all! She is going to be so excited when these supplies show up.

How I wish I could donate some of the boxes I have of products I will no longer use but international shipping costs are prohibiting me 😞 who knows, the next amazing designer who will make that one elusive product we’ve all been waiting for but can’t quite put our finger on as to what it is might be one of those students… And I hope they are 🤗

I will go thru my pp and stickers...and I have lots of die cut shapes I decided not to use on my cards.
I might have some stamp pads to send too.
This would be a great time to punch out some shapes and butterflies out of my scarp papers too.
She doesn't needs this right away , right? It might takes me a month to work on this.

I wanted to suggest instead of paperbag albums use a dollar store 3 ring binder and 100 document protectors for like 5 dollars from walmart. Give each kid 5 or so. If the binder is not available use those report binders with the little clips. That way the child can later transfer their pages even to a 12x12 if they get into it. They can also add to it as much as they want.
I did that often for kids scrapbook birthday parties and when I taught very basic free classes at the library.

I like the idea of the students learning paper bag albums because they could continue making them on their own!

I was given a pile of old scrapbook paper, 2003-2008 vintage. I will try to find a good box and if the postage isn’t too ridiculous I’ll send it over. She’ll put it to better use than the thrift store, I would think.

I use PayPal shipping, which you can do even if you haven't received PayPal money for the goods. It just saved me a LOT on the box I'm sending, and you have the option to mail First Class online (which you can't do through USPS click and ship for some reason). This is the link I use: www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-nowIt takes me into Shipstation. You might have to set up an account first. I use this for almost all of my shipping now. (ETA: a clarification - First Class is only available for packages under 1 pound which my box of paper definitely was not. But being able to print First Class postage at home was a big reason I started using this service instead of going to the post office and now I'm hooked on the convenience.)

I realized after I boxed and shipped my stuff that I could probably have saved a bit more money by packaging it differently... but the box I used was the perfect size, it was free, I had it on hand, and I wanted to get it done. I will consider my overspending a donation to the USPS and tbh it's worth spending a little extra money to get things off my to-do list.
