Massive GQP fraud with Michigan primary petitions .. The state Bureau of Elections has recommended that five of the 10 Republican candidates hoping to oust Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer should be kicked off the ballot prior to the Aug. 2 primary due to tens of thousands of forged signatures. In total, elections staff identified 36 individual petition circulators who submitted fraudulent petition sheets with invalid signatures in at least 10 petition drives — submitting at least 68,000 invalid signatures total. Those petition drives included those for governor, circuit judge and district judge. www.rawstory.com/massive-signature-fraud-scandal-upends-michigan-gop-gubernatorial-race/

Federal appeals Court overturns ruling to keep insurrections off ballot, out of office . A judge had previously ruled in Cawthorn's favor, citing an 1872 amnesty law passed by Congress. But the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned that ruling. "To ask such a question is nearly to answer it," the court filing said. "Consistent with the statutory text and context, we hold that the 1872 Amnesty Act removed the Fourteenth Amendment’s eligibility bar only for those whose constitutionally wrongful acts occurred before its enactment. Accordingly, we reverse the district court’s grant of injunctive relief and remand for further proceedings." The appeals court didn't weigh in on whether Cawthorn should be banned from running for office. "We express no opinion about whether Representative Cawthorn in fact engaged in ‘insurrection or rebellion’ or is otherwise qualified to serve in Congress,” the ruling stated. They also said in the footnote that Cawthorn suggested that the issue didn't matter because he was going to lose anyway. The court argued that it did matter. "Nevertheless, based on the record before us, this appeal is not currently moot in an Article III sense because a primary winner has not yet been certified and it does not appear the challengers have withdrawn their challenge," the ruling read. In the case of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), she wasn't charged with being involved in the attempt to overthrow the government. If she is charged in the future by the Justice Department and convicted, this ruling holds that she could be barred from running for office. The same is true in Arizona, where a Maricopa County judge ruled that the petitioners didn't have the standing to challenge candidates in court. There is no law that gives individuals the private right of action to sue to stop them from running. It's unclear if that means any other entity could. That was appealed to the state Supreme Court, which withheld the ruling. www.rawstory.com/insurrection-14th-amendment-barred-election/

And in other news.
Note it says the fire jumped the river. That is what happens a lot with these fires because of the wind. It use to be a fire breaks like could stop fires. Not so much anymore.

This is a “well duh” ruling IMO. One of the responses said next stop will be the Supreme Court and isn’t holding out much hope it will stand. This person may be right. I've been wondering why the RNC hasn't seemed to consider that this would apply to T-rump's running for President again. They certainly have plenty of lawyers who could point it out. Maybe they were counting on nobody noticing.

I will add that, when I wondered aloud about this to my DH, he guessed that it would require T-rump's having been convicted of something regarding the insurrection. Interesting theory. I still don't understand why he isn't in jail for it, personally, since election interference is a crime. It's possible that DOJ is working slooooowly on developing a case in this instance, I suppose....

This is an example of “do what I say , not what I do” or something like that. Hypocrites. Just arm your security and arm every douche canoe on stage. Hand them out as everyone walks in. Isn't that how it works? More guns = less problems.

People who live in red states may support common sense gun laws but rarely will step a cross party lines to vote for the people who write & pass these laws.

Of course he did.
From CREW..
”The Secret Service spent nearly $2 million at Trump properties”
“The Secret Service has spent nearly $2 million of taxpayer money at Trump properties, literally paying Donald Trump for the right to protect him and his family, according to government records obtained and analyzed by CREW. Newly acquired records show roughly $1.75 million being paid to Trump’s businesses; however, these records appear to be incomplete. Previously published records, by CREW and others, which do not appear to be included in the documents, account for thousands more in Secret Service spending at Trump properties, bringing the likely grand total closer to $2 million.
One of the biggest sources of expenses was Mar-a-Lago, the so-called Winter White House. The documents, obtained by CREW through the Freedom of Information Act, show the Secret Service paying Trump’s private club more than $300,000 to protect him and his family there. Over his presidency, Trump made an astounding 146 visits to the Palm Beach club, which makes sense in the context of his inability to bill the government when he was staying at the actual White House. The records do not show any spending at Mar-a-Lago until 2018, despite the fact Trump visited that property many times the year before, and those visits are known to have resulted in tens of thousands of dollars of Secret Service spending. “

The American People need to find ways , without threats, to make these politicians answer questions they don’t want to. Especially if they want people to vote for them.

Manchin was rambling on how he knew there could be a compromise with enough Republicans on gun laws that would get 60 votes to pass it in the Senate.
Manchin’s nickname should be Lucy along with the Republicans.
