They are going to overturn it. That is what the three Trump justices were put on the court to do. It means that immediately in half the country you will not have legal abortion.

I live in Texas but am a Washington State native. i have been sickened to live here with draconian laws but held out hope for the rest of the country. I'm just sickened and saddened.

I can only hope this will be the impetus for Congress to codify those protections into law.

Just a draft. Final decision may be in June, possibly even July.. Before midterms. Let's see if 60% vote against candidates who want to change the laws...
Draft signed Feb 10, 2022.

This was settled law when I was young. Well, this is what happens when conservatives control the SC.

I wonder if Susan Collins is concerned? And don’t worry, Amy Coney Barret said it settled law.

Absolutely they are going to try. At a minimum, I expect a nationwide 6 week ban. These fucking fuckers make me sick. Hate isn’t a strong enough word for what I’m feeling

If this comes to pass, I hope everyone who voted for trump in 16 and 20, and republicans in 2020 lose someone to a back alley abortion. Maybe then they’ll fucking get it. Sorry, not sorry. Fuck all of them.

I'm in shock but really not in shock because the groundwork for this has been laid thanks to Trump and his SC appointees.
I'm literally sick about this.

Please tell me I'm not alone in wanting to burn everything down.
Also, someone on the inside must be incredibly angry to leak that draft.
Under his motherfucking eye indeed.

Alito says Roe was "egregiously wrong." I assume this means that they are doing away with the penumbra of privacy. And if that is really his logic, Griswold goes also. God bless the rhythm method!

This is interesting, but I don’t agree that it will soften the blow. “Setting expectations.” So women will get used to the idea? Lord, I hope that’s not true.

What next? Sarah*H says Griswold, yes... Gay marriage, Brown v Education If it ain't listed in the Constitution, it don't count. This is the time where voters MUST vote for the future... Know what the Republicans will do without restraints... 1973, Roe passed 7-2.. 5 of the seven were appointed Republicans.

Watching Rachel tonight and I'm deeply disturbed. I don't even have a uterus but this guts me. I can recall how positive and forward-thinking girls felt in the 1970's. This is going backward by decades. This is DISGUSTING and unbelievable.
My thoughts go to poor girls and women who've been raped and end up pregnant. Women/girls who end up pregnant by incest. Women who have to make a choice to save their own lives by terminating a pregnancy & being able to parent their other children.
I Nannied for a wonderful family who had a hard time in having the mom's first baby. She was SO careful in choosing the Nanny. I later found out that the baby was a twin. The twin had no chance of living very long AND he was threatening his brother's life, as well as his mother's life, in utero. The poor mom was eventually doing worse as the pregnancy went on and she had to finally abort the one baby boy, otherwise all 3 of them would have died. She shared this with me and showed me his baby blanket and everything she bought to plan on having twin boys. It was tragic, but she saved her baby's life and her own life and it really ate away at her. What a horrible, horrible choice, BUT SHE HAD A CHOICE. To think that there will no longer be a choice is unfathomable.
I feel for all women and girls who are facing this limiting, disgusting new news. I can only imagine what would lie ahead as far as banning so much more (gay marriage, etc.). What a sad world.

The leaked opinion definitely calls Griswold (contraception) and Obergefell (gay marriage) into question directly.

Legal experts: Alito's leaked decision also calls into question laws on birth control, privacy and same-sex marriage.. Let us not forget Loving v Virginia(mixed race marriage) Sarah K. Burris May 02, 2022 No room for constitutional change to match a more tolerant and enlightened society. A recipe for no Roe OR Griswold OR Obergefell." Griswold was the 1965 ruling that declared the Constitution protects the liberty of married couples to buy and use contraceptives without the government probing their decisions or lives. Obergefell is the ruling that ultimately legalized same-sex marriage. www.rawstory.com/alito-leak/
