That is a valid point of their arguments. The people legislating these laws seems to have no idea how these things work. There is no " abortion" with an IUD simply because there was no fertilization to begin with. There is no "abortion" with a " morning after pill" as it instantly prevent fertilization by inhibition or delaying ovulation. Do these people not understand that one has to have live sperm and an ovulated egg that meets each other to enable fertilization. If one is missing or blocked fertilization is never going to happen. If it's never happened in the first place it can't be aborted. All birth control pills work in the same way - they inhibit or block the eggs of the woman. A secondary effect of pills and hormonal IUDs is thinning the lining of the uterus and thickening mucus to make an environment hostile to the implantation of a fertilized egg, if one occurs. That is the function they term “abortion.” The private agency thing is bullshit. Private agencies can put strings on any help they provide, such as religious service attendance or ceasing co-habitation with a partner. They’re not bound by law to give accurate information or to protect privacy. They’re clutching at straws there then when it only has a 0.01 to 0. 04% failure rate when it is fitted correctly.

This article by Michael Moore popped up on my Facebook feed this morning, replete with photos from The Handmaid's Tale: The Forced Birth RulingOne hundred seventy million American women and girls were suddenly informed on Monday that they have been removed from the ranks of full citizenship, and that their rights are now diminished so severely they will heretofore be commanded to give birth, whether they want to or not. Once pregnant, the government will now make all women prisoners of their wombs, automatically forced for the full nine months to carry the fetus inside them to term, whether they intended to be pregnant or not, a 21st century version of house arrest.
And when it’s time to give birth, the woman who didn’t want to be pregnant in the first place is either virtually or physically held down until that fetus is forcibly removed from the incarcerated vessel that was ordered to carry it.
This Order by the Supreme Rulers gleefully violates the very first pronouncement of our Constitution’s First Amendment which clearly states, without equivocation, that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” The Ruling this week forces all Americans to now follow the strict religious beliefs of the Catholic Church and much of Christianity which has concocted a fantasy that a fertilized egg is a human being — even though their own founder and God, Jesus Christ, never said any such thing. In fact, the word “abortion” appears absolutely nowhere in the New Testament. This Supreme Ruling, from a Court consisting of a majority of Catholic Justices, has ordered the citizens of the United States of America to now obey a major tenet of the Catholic Church — or be found guilty of a crime.
This Supreme Ruling removes the right of all women to be equal citizens to men — men who will retain full 100% control over their own reproductive organs. Both men and women have five main bodily systems. Women will now be allowed to maintain control of only four of their top five bodily systems: their circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system and their muscular/skeletal system. But not their reproductive system. That power now belongs to the government. Which makes women 4/5 of a citizen. The State of course exercises no legal control over whatever it is men want to do with their bodies, and no man is forced to reproduce or deal with any of its consequences as women are.
Our Supreme Robed Rulers have relegated women and girls to permanent second-class citizenship. The pretending that women are legally “equal” can now thankfully stop. The truth is they were always 2nd class citizens, thanks to unequal pay, no paid maternity leave, domestic abuse, etc. The fake mask of our American system of “equality” has been ripped off, no more pretending now, because the real slippery slope has begun. This Forced Birth decision is only the beginning. If these fascists are not removed from office, as President Biden has warned us this week, they will be emboldened and they will be on a rampage to undo other freedoms that are an affront to the State Religion they have now shoved down our throats in the Dobbs Case. Next up: ending same sex marriage. After that: the removal of the Plan B pill, aka “the morning after pill.” They have already eliminated the Violence Against Women Act and they will make that permanent. They have invaded school board meetings with threats of violence if the schools continue to teach that white Americans kidnapped, raped, lynched and enslaved Black Africans to build this country. They will continue to gerrymander, suppress the vote, and keep Black Americans on the lowest rung of the economic ladder. Your child will be forced to start the school day, every day, by standing and praying aloud to this Christian God Jesus Christ who never once condemned homosexuality, never once forced anyone to pray. They have made up this fake god to suit their totalitarian political agenda, to force women into the maternity ward, to send Black Americans to the back of the new bus where they are imprisoned by the millions along with other people of color.
Welcome to the New America. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, only the new boss no longer has to fake-sing his praises for “Democracy!” and “Freedom!” and “Equality!”
The New America is about to become a much scarier place. The Supreme Wealthy are going to take everything from you and they believe they’re going to get away with it. Only November stands in their way. Only November has a chance of stopping them. And that’s on you and me. MASSIVE ORGANIZING! EXPLOSIVE NONVIOLENT RESISTANCE! EVERYONE BRINGS FIVE VOTERS WITH THEM TO THE POLLS! EACH OF US PUTS A SIGN IN THE WINDOW OR THE YARD THAT SAYS “VOTE THE FASCISTS OUT!”
Then we might have a chance.
And I believe we do. Because there’s more of us than there are of them.
(Note: The ABC News poll this week showed 70% of Americans believe “abortion is a private decision between a woman and her doctor.” Only 27% of the country supports what the Trump Court is about to rule! C’mon people — let’s beat these traitorous bastards once and for all.)

Presumably because he or they think it triggers an abortion. A woman would only need an abortion when it fails and the exceptionally low failure rate doesn't justify their argument for banning it. Incidentally, he doesn't actually know how it works, but he is still talking of banning it even when he's ignorant of the facts, by his own admission.

He believes that a birth control method that potentially prevents implantation of a zygote IS potentially causing an abortion. Once sperm and egg join, they consider it a fully human life even if it hasn’t implanted yet. That’s why they’re also opposed to IVF - all those fertilized eggs that get destroyed. More abortions to them. I was raised in this kind of culty crap. I went through the Catholic church’s “family planning” classes before I got married and learned exactly what their objection is and why.

Deep State Radio did a two part podcast series talking about the medical, social, political and legal ramifications of overturning Roe or even making abortion less accessible. There were a lot of things that I hadn’t even thought of. It’s a good listen if anyone is interested.

AZ GOP candidate wants to outlaw condoms "Blake Masters, a Tucson-based venture capitalist, calls for overturning Griswold v. Connecticut, which protects a married couple’s right to buy and use contraceptives without government restrictions. if Griswold v. Connecticut is overturned states could ban condoms and other contraception. On his website, Masters says he will only vote to confirm federal judges “who understand that Roe and Griswold and Casey were wrongly decided, and that there is no constitutional right to abortion.” the ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965 protected a married couple’s right to buy and use contraceptives without government restrictions." They're throwing everything at the wall hoping it will stick with voters.

I’ve been really mad since the draft was leaked. I’m furious that my rights and the rights of other women are being taken away mostly by older white men. I’m worried about what this will mean for my boys, now young adults. NH has a Republican Governor with a Republican state legislature. Last year they passed restrictions on abortion including requiring a medically unnecessary ultrasound. I have no doubt they will try to pass an abortion ban. We’re lucky that we live in New England, other states are passing laws to protect abortion. Access to health care should not depend on geography or be subject to the whims of voters. Health care should be a federally protected right. I think this sums up the situation really well heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-3-2022?s=rAs actress Ashley Nicole Black tweeted: “There's a particular slap to the face of being told we can vote for abortion rights, by the court that gutted voting rights.” Also this heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-4-2022?s=r law professors Melissa Murray and Leah Litman noted in the Washington Post that “perhaps the most stunning feature of the opinion is that its indignant tone and aggressive reasoning make clear how empowered this conservative majority believes itself to be.”

On FB there is a video of the SNL cold open. It is a skit about abortion and I watched it. Out of curiosity I looked at about 50 of the comments. By far the most negative comments about the skit came from men. I did not look at all of the comments, so maybe this is not representative. Or maybe men tended to comment more.
But it was very interesting that so many negative comments came from people who have no uterus.

The whole point of the constitution is to establish that basic human rights should not be subject to a vote.

Kari Lake running for Gov of Arizona.. LET them get an abortion?Seems they are putting support into the laws... Too bad they will ban condoms.. Men who 'let' their girlfriends have abortions will regret it: Arizona Republican for governor Sarah K. Burris May 08, 2022 For the leading Republican candidate for Arizona's governor, she wanted to highlight men who "let" their girlfriends get an abortion.Fox8 reported that the banning of abortion has reignited a conversation about child support for men like the ones Lake is talking about. For example, one Amendment suggested under the Florida abortion ban would mandate child support from fathers begin at 15 weeks. Many state laws will declare "personhood" for a fetus or embryo, meaning it would have the same rights as an existing individual. Since that includes child support, there could be lawsuits to ensure that child support also begins at the point the state law declares the fetus or embryo a "person."www.rawstory.com/kari-lake-boyfriends-decide-choice/Oh there is a wonderful sweeeeet video of Lake.. youtu.be/2LJQ4UCctSY

The liars are loose on FOX. Tammy Bruce used to be pro-choice with a scary tale..not all truthful. In the 80s there was birth control AND abortions were already legal!!! Conservative tries to paint protesters as 'bullies and thugs' as video shows them peacefully standingSarah K. Burris May 08, 2022 Conservative commentator Tammy Bruce struggled to justify her anti-choice beliefs and attacks on protesters. *** Speaking to the Fox network on Sunday, Bruce first claimed that Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was trying to scare people just as she (Bruce) did as a pro-choice activist in the 80s. According to Bruch, women's health was scary back then because abortion was illegal and there was no birth control.*** Bruce went on to say that those standing outside the Supreme Court and elsewhere protesting, "those aren't protesters, those are bullies and thugs. I love protests. I'm a community organizer," the radio host continued. "What's going on with a group like what we're seeing outside the churches and the homes of the justices, is like Antifa."The video beside her, while she was talking, showed peaceful people standing around holding signs. Other footage showed people walking calmly with signs. The peaceful protests have been a stark contrast to the violent attacks on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. See Bruce in the video below: youtu.be/AJpCOpB_hmAwww.rawstory.com/protest/

I’ve said this before too! Once the government is given that power over others there is nothing stopping them from switching gears if things go sideways and the ruling class determines having all these babies is no longer in their best interests. Look at China’s one child rule that they had forever, and all the women there who wanted more children but they weren’t allowed to, and see how fantastically well that worked out for China in the long run.

Ted Cruz is claiming Biden is allowing mob violence at Justices' homes .. There has been no mob violence and for the most part, it's the neighbors of these bozos who are organizing the protests. Would Ted Cruz have the same opinion of people harassing women walking into a Planned Parenthood? I run past our PP fairly regularly and there are always people there ready to harass women.

It’s not mob violence, it’s free speech. People are protesting because they’re angry with the leaked draft and the upcoming decision. If the Republicans don’t want the Supreme Court and the individual justices to be treated as political, the Republicans and the justices themselves shouldn’t have made it partisan. Furthermore, the justices shouldn’t have lied in their hearings.
