My mom needed it done about 11 years ago (she was 77 years old) and she did well with the surgery. Her gallbladder attacks were worse than the surgery, according to her. (This is 1 surgery I have no experience with). I want to wish you the best of luck and the speediest recovery!! xo The attacks plus the pancreatitis are absolutely horrible. I’m actually looking forward to the surgery tomorrow.

I wish you the best!!!!!! Going to hospitals for surgeries is so 2nd nature to me that it's sick! I feel 100% comfortable. I'm sure you'll be in great hands and be on your way to recovering soon enough. Let us know how you're doing when you can. BIGGG hugs!

I can have small sips of water up until 10 AM which is two hours before surgery. Nothing to eat after midnight

Nothing to eat after midnight I’m oddly jealous you can have small sips of water until 2 hours before surgery. I’ve had too many surgeries to count and water is always cut off at midnight. I drink a ton of water, going without is tortuous for me Another so happy for you that you finally get your gallbladder out. I’m betting you’ve been thru the ringer so badly with it that surgery and recovery will be fairly easy

Best of luck tomorrow. Like most of us who have had gall bladder surgery, you'll probably be feeling fine in a week or so. And what a relief it will be to not have any more attacks and no more pancreatis! Take care.

I hope you have a quick recovery! I'm too late, probably, but bring a sturdy plastic bag for the car ride home in case you get sick from the anesthesia.

Update: I went into surgery around noon I was out around two at home at about 530. Feeling pretty good this morning I slept really well on one Oxy. Now I’ll just go back to taking Tylenol if I need it. Don’t want to jinx myself but I don’t have any gas pain like so many people had. He does want me to see a gastroenterologist next week to double check to make sure there isn’t any stones stuck someplace. He tried some procedure to check and he didn’t feel he was successful so we’ll see what the next step is.
Thanks for all the tips and good thoughts

I think the procedure is a flushing out of the ducts. Hope they got everything and you can just focus on recovering.

I’m so glad to hear that you slept well! Here’s hoping when you go for your check next week that your stones are all gone.

I think the procedure is a flushing out of the ducts. Hope they got everything and you can just focus on recovering. He did that yesterday But apparently wants to make sure that they’re all gone because he’s not sure that they are. So I might have to have an MRI and believe you me it will be in an open MRI tube. I had a panic attack last time I was in one

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get rid of a sore throat from the breathing tube?

popsicles? apple juice? I typically do something cool and soothing for a sore throat. And I'm glad it went well!! Fingers crossed that all the stones are gone and your recovery keeps going as smooth as it is now.

christine58, glad to hear that it's over and you're home and resting. Walk as much as you're able. That will help get the anesthesia out of your lungs, as well as prevent that gas pain. For the sore throat just take tylenol or advil. Be careful about tylenol, because you don't want to take too much and you're on pain meds, too. It will get better, but it's a nasty side effect of being intubated. I'm thinking of you. Take good, loving care of yourself.

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get rid of a sore throat from the breathing tube? Warm tea with honey or lozenges/hard candy are my go to solutions

But I am walking around the house and a little bit on my deck.

be careful you don't try to do too much, though- the second day after the general anesthesia was sometimes worse for me, with feeling a bit like I'd been hit by a truck / fatigue.
