From my memory, and this might be inaccurate, I haven't gone back and checked posts, I thought the objections raised or criticisms were because of disinformation that you posted regarding to posts? I thought people were trying to correct the misinformation? Everyone has the right to make their own decision regarding the vaccine, with some qualifications, but it's not OK to spread misinformation and there's a lot of that floating around. If I responded to your posts or criticized your posts, I can assure you it had nothing to do with pixiechick. I rarely pay attention to who likes posts and respond based on the post itself, not who liked it. Again, I'm sorry that you were bullied. lettuceagain agree to disagree on covid transmission in vaccinated vs unvaccinated patients However, I didn't intentionally accuse you of spreading misinformation. I apologize if that's how it came across. I just asked a question and posted what I remembered, acknowledging that it might not be accurate. And I just want to clarify that I only questioned your source for what I think is a valid reason, over its publication of false information regarding autism and vaccines, which seemed relevant to the discussion. It wasn't my intention to not accept it or dismiss it, I acknowledged that it is a well respected medical journal. And I posted other studies that contradicted the one you shared. |

Polio case found in Rockland Cty NY. Rockland area is where there was a measles outbreak a few years ago. (Reuters) - A case of polio has been identified outside New York City and confirmed by federal health officials, the New York State Health Department said on Thursday in what would be the nation's first known case of the disease in at least thirty years. Testing suggested the Rockland County case of the highly contagious virus may have originated outside of the United States, the department said in statement. "We are monitoring the situation closely and working with the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to respond to this emergent public health issue to protect the health and wellbeing of county residents," Rockland County Health Commissioner Patricia Schnabel Ruppert said in a statement. The CDC, which confirmed the case, has said no cases of polio have originated in the U.S. since 1979. However, the virus has been brought into the country by travelers with polio. This was in a span of 22 minutes. Note how quickly the call goes out for additional equipment. This is the new reality in areas that burn which is a huge chunk of the country.
Fun fact. CA Fire Scanner is located in New Zealand. He lives in New Zealand and listens to the radio calls that go between fire fighters and those who dispatch the equipment. He then puts it a tweet for us in CA who have to pay attention in case we have to evacuate because of a fire heading toward us.

This board does bully people , it is unmoderated.
People leave.
People stop posting.
People get fed up.
There were posts by Dottyscrapper recently saying that new members were not desirable and untrustworthy and that existing members should be encouraged to post more instead.
I feel that new members should not be made unwelcome and new people can bring benefits by helping to keep the board an active ongoing forum by providing additional interaction.
I find part of the board a nice place to be , but at other times it can be pretty toxic.
I feel that if things continue like this there will be fewer and fewer members.
Fewer and fewer people willing to post.
I feel that in the future this may adversely affect the board by possibly contributing to it becoming stagnant and withering as people feel it is a miserable place to be and use it less often or avoid it.
It is possible that In the end the only remaining members might just be the dominant group of bullies talking to one another repeating themselves in a never ending echo chamber.
I feel that that it would be productive for things to change and I think that the goodness of the board needs to ramp up and exceed the badness.
I think that it is good to cover lighthearted as well as serious topics because our lives reflect this.
I think that the group bullying issue needs to be addressed.
Blocking people does not address this unfortunately.
There will always be different views and heated exchanges and that is normal and people can agree to disagree but things cross the line on here and there are times when people are abused and attacked.
This board has provided so much genuine support to many people and that is impressive but it is sometimes overshadowed with the opposite type of behaviour and I think that is a shame and for me off-putting.
I hope this board continues in a more positive direction.

Given that you interpreted Sassyangel’s comments completely differently than 99% of the Peas did, I can’t just accept your word that Dotty would say something that mean. (And this is neither an attack nor bullying, just asking for verification! 😊)

I think that when topics are discussed it can be useful to recognise when peoples personal circumstances sensitise them to certain subjects. Comments can hurt more when someone is currently struggling or had past personal experience with certain issues.
This can cover a variety of circumstances .
Health issues matter to me and my family
ill health, high risk of complications , clinically vulnerable, near misses, poor care.
Other people may be sensitised to topics that cover bereavement
Other people may be sensitised to topics that cover prejudice and discrimination on colour or gender.
Other people may be sensitised to topics covering financial hardship.
Other people may be sensitised to topics covering relationship breakdowns.
I am sure there are plenty more topics out there.
We all have different issues to deal with.
Ups and downs are part of life for everyone.
I think it would be kind to recognise this before submitting a comment that could come across as callous to someone going through a hard time .
If that person has outlined their personal circumstances I think it is worth accepting that comments will have a greater effect on them than casual readers.

But we can’t possibly know what everyone's issues are, and what everyone's triggers are - especially if we’re welcoming new people who don’t know anything about anyone. If someone says something I find hurtful, then it’s how I deal with it that’s the issue, rather than their likely oblivious statement. It’s something that came up in my therapy session this morning - unless it’s a criminal act, or a natural disaster, etc if you’re over 18, then there are no victims, only volunteers. People can choose how they wish to react to something, and we're all adults here. People can play victims, but it doesn’t mean they are victims. (And I hasten to add I am not thinking here of anyone on this board.)
An example: one of the Peas sent me a really funny meme which had a photo of a wasp on it. I appreciated the humour but mentioned that I have a crippling phobia of wasps, so I had to put my finger over the image while I read the meme. The Pea apologised, but it is completely my problem. I don’t expect anyone other than my close family and best friends to remember and make allowances for my stupid phobia. 🤷🏻♀️
