Well if this country had elected the very qualified candidate instead of a two bit game show host in 2016 we would not be in this mess. And the mess is about to get a lot messier.

Patients will no longer be able to use IVF.. I've asked a couple conservative friends who used IVF to have their kids what they think will happen to fertility treatments now. They just do not connect the dots. FYI the penis isn't involved in a vasectomy whatsoever. And pretty much every single man I know over 40 has had one. Maybe things are different elsewhere, but here you have a kid or 2/3 and then the husband gets a vasectomy. Every one of my family/friends had a vasectomy after completing their family but the percent of men in the US who have them is shockingly low. One study shows only 10% of married couples use vasectomies for birth control in the US compared to 22% in Canada and the UK. For men 40-49, 57% have had vasectomies in the Canada, UK and New Zealand. I remember going over my medical history with a new PCP. None of the birth control options applied to me and partner's vasectomy wasn't even on her list.

Yes, he was in the wrong for dithering about it. Yes, I went through much more painful and invasive procedures during our childbearing years. Yes, I was mad. And yes, I was grateful that I had a medical need for a hysterectomy 2 years ago that made it a moot point.

Now the 'pro-life' violence starts.... Of course this is what is going to happen, because we all know Pro-lifers don’t really care about life, they just care about control, but who the hell calls it “pro abortion”? Crap like that needs to be called out too. Pro choice/pro woman’s autonomy over her body is NOT pro abortion. Jesus.

A needle prick hurts less than pounding your thumb with a hammer, IMO. But again, IMO and maybe others have had bad experiences that I can't comprehend, not judging, just wondering. Isn't a hysterectomy the bomb?

I gave DH the option of either getting a vasectomy or wearing a condom every time we had sex until my eggs withered and died. He lasted quite a few years before he realized I wasn’t going to change my mind.

Isn't a hysterectomy the bomb? To give you some perspective - he has had dental work done without numbing and has had stitches put in his lower lip without numbing. He’d rather have the pain than the injection. He knows it’s irrational. He can’t seem to help it. Yes, he’s been vaccinated, but any time they want to draw blood he has to lie down or risk passing out. After 25 years I’ve accepted that it’s not something I’m going to change about him. In retrospect, I wish I’d just have had my tubes tied during my 2nd c-section.

Or ignore all the children in foster care that need homes. The foster care system is already broken and pushed to capacity. Where are all these children supposed to go? Home with the Supreme Court? Home with the government?

Another phrase I hate is "abortion advocates" It's not as bad as pro abortion but it still makes it sound like we want people to have abortion. We want it to be an option as needed. Choice is just that. Choice between many options. A choice that a woman makes, not her government.

How did we make his life miserable? By giving him a job for life that he was too young and unqualified for? I never thought he was the best person for the job even based on qualifications. I fully supported appointing a black justice but I didn't think it should be him. This is all the more reason to investigate his wife's activities post 2020 election and find out what he knew and when he knew it. He should be forced to retire. That would make his life miserable and would be well deserved.

I know some Peas frown upon marches or protesting, but I'm not one of them. They do make an impact. If we don't turn out in record numbers, the populace will take that as a sign of surrender, that we give up. Democracy requires eternal vigilance. Our ladylike, quiet, polite votes are not enough. Bans of Our Bodies protestsI plan to be at as many of these as I can, and my 23 year old daughter wouldn’t even consider sitting this out. Just awaiting the dates on the TBDs. Do we have many Peas in California?

I had a migraine yesterday and didn't get here to read this thread until today.
I am in shock. I knew it was coming (we all did), but it has still hit very hard. I was 13 when Roe vs. Wade happened and I remember feeling very relieved that I would have a choice in my reproductive health as an adult. Now I'm 62 (way past child bearing years), but I'm sick at the loss of control and choice for all American women this decision impacts. We've gone backwards in time. I truly fear for the America of the future.

I could be wrong, but I think the movement has started to shift from pro choice to pro abortion or abortion advocates in part to destigmatize abortions. Instead of fearing the word because it’s so charged, embracing it and the women who choose to have one. Pro life in some cases has started to shift to anti abortion. Pro life and pro choice are so polarizing, both also leave a lot of grey areas. And I think pro life finds it difficult to defend when they’re also pro guns or for Capitol punishment. Anti abortion and abortion advocates are at least a little more clear. Just my 2 cents

I am pro-choice.
Do what is best for the person, their choice.
I do not advocate directly to people for abortion unless someone asks for direct advice or tells me they need help. I support abortion in general and donate.

pro abortion and abortion advocate might not be the best rhetoric either, but I can see where they're coming from. And Democrats have not made progress or gained support by avoiding the use of the word abortion, just because it's charged.

I never liked the term pro-choice as it felt mealy-mouthed to me, but pro-abortion isn’t exactly correct, either.
