Spellbinders is the only bag I really opened and looked through so far. Super excited about it. I still haven’t been back to the FB page. I’m so unfamiliar with FB these days (I’ve been off it for years), and I’m afraid to inundated with info. Other than homework, There’s nothing else really of interest there, is there? Didn’t someone mention that there’s an ink list (as in other brand’s colors that might work) somewhere. Am I remembering That correctly?
Also, pinklady , have you tried using colored pencils and gamsol? For now I’m still holding off on any copics or other alcohol pens (mainly because I have full-set-syndrome and this is so not a good time to get involved with that outlay of $$$. I really am loving the pencils and gamsol, and for my artist friend using them now too! I think a big challenge for me will not be to open and USE some of the stuff that was sent! PS: during the classes is there a way to make a sidebar for us peas to chat and roll our collective eyes at some of the crazy people participating? You girls cracked me up on the spring thread chatting about them a bit. Lastly: if y’all didn’t notice, there’s a thread in the scrapbook side about the fall card exchange if anyone is interested in joining in! Would be fun to see some of the cards from the classes out in circulation, yes? The instructor meet-n-greets right after each class are held on FB. All announcements and reference info is under the Guides tab at the top of the page. Photo albums will be made for each class under the Photos tab. A lot of people make exactly what the instructor makes, but some don’t, especially weeks and months later. Some participants make helpful info sheets, like all the discount programs on a spread sheet with the amounts and dates, which vary a lot. Those are mostly under the Files section mostly. I think the lead up sessions to the event were on FB, and all of the Friday bonus classes. Unless something has changed, the unboxing will be on FB too. I hated creating a FB account, but made one under a different name and a yahoo account. I rarely look at account. I just looked and in the last eight or so months there have been four emails, two from FB about updating a policy and a couple from Yahoo offering upgrades. Another pea suggested I do that. The SCT folks are very accommodating in case you wanted to change your email/user name. Thank you so much! I know I have to get back there eventually. I just don’t wanna (yes, I’m stomping my feet). It just a mental block I have about it. The unboxing and the Friday classes are held on there. I hope I’ll be able to find them easily. Im so glad to see you back posting again.

Holy cow! I am astounded at the info/PSFs for the Friday classes! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up with even one of those. I'm excited for the Simon Hurley class - I'd like to try some of his cards. I've printed everything off - will need to take some serious time to get everything together and make sure I have what I need. I should have taken Monday off too. LOL. We should set up Microsoft Teams on our computers so we can chat while all this is going on! No joke, the Friday classes are pretty much the same as the Saturday and Sunday classes. I really like the scrapbook.com class cards. The dies are similar to something I wanted from The Stamp Market. 😁 I really like that they gave us a pdf of the wire bound instruction book.

My Box arrived while I was cooking dinner, of course I had to take a break to check the box out. Wow!!! We got so much in the goody bag.
The booklet is missing.

My box came about a week ago without a shipping notification. It is awesome. Not sure I’m going to like everything but lots of bang for the buck. I did the homework for all the main classes yesterday while I was home not feeling well. I will work on the ones for the Friday projects I want to do soon. Not in love with the cards from Friday including close to my heart, Brutus monroe, and some others do I will see if I prep them.
Catherine always does knock it out of the park.

Mine came yesterday and I was thrilled that I was on team rip it open, lol. I didn’t have much time but enough time to open each bag and look at its contents. I didn’t open any of the smaller bags inside. I can’t decide what class I’m most excited about. There was so much in the bag!
I will be out of town for a week during the week of unboxing and I probably won’t tackle separating things until after that, so I will be pushing it to get the homework done. I always enjoy the meet the teacher videos and usually try to do homework while I watch those. I may be extending the class schedule into the next week.
Of the sneak peeks, I loved the Hero Arts card. So much color! Elle’s studio, on Friday, has been a constant favorite in the other two times I’ve done the Crop & Create. Megan is a very teacher and her enthusiasm is absolutely infectious! Her cards are always great. Gina K and Taylor from Taylored Expressions are also absolute teaching pros—great instruction, pacing, products.
And I was super impressed by the goodie bag! 😁

Because there isn’t another platform that can handle large scale events and that contains needed features. If you want to limit exposure, do go through the many privacy settings. I originally missed a setting that accessed my contact list, and some people showed up as friends in FB Messenger, even though I don’t have FB friends. I turned the setting off in Messenger. Ugh, right? OTOH, some FB groups narrowly define what topics are allowed, so being able to message someone privately can be useful.

Yeah, I don’t really need to read a book/watch an interview to know that FB is no longer for me 😉 Making a new account after all these years was tough. No one I know (I should say no one that i know well) uses it any longer, and I hate the idea of supporting it in any way. I don’t think I need to bother with privacy settings since I added no friends, don’t post, and don’t read! But, for pretty cards, I just have to suck it up. I read Through the booklet last night which helped a lot (and answered lots of questions I had). When I get Home this afternoon I’ll take a deep dive in the box to make sure everything is there and also see what things I need to get ordered for the classes. I think it’s mainly going to be inks. My collection is still pretty limited.

Not in a bunnies and butterflies way. As time goes on you may decide your settings still need to be tweaked, since if you’re on FB you’re on. But maybe not too.

I hate being on FB, too. I read a bit about their business practices in the book Chaos Monkeys, plus of course just general news you read about them. I had to bite the bullet and register under a fakish name for the SCT events, though. I agree with tweaking your privacy settings. I haven't had anyone I know irl find me on there yet, which I'm happy about.
I get my box on Friday and I can't wait! I used to be Team No Peek but now I'm Peek for sure because last event my box was missing an entire bag - all of the Saturday classes' stuff. They sent it out immediately, of course, but there's always that fear that something will go wrong and I won't get it resent at all, or it will get lost. I was also missing the booklet. So this time - I'm peeking!!

I did the Saturday and Sunday homework today, except for Spellbinders and Pink & Main. I'll tackle that tomorrow. The 6 classes took me about 4 hours.
In yesterdays email from SCT in the #teampeek section there is a link to homework videos from Kristina, Jenn and Michelle for their homework.
I'm so glad they've sent the PDF's for the Friday "mini" classes this early. They don't look like mini classes to me.

The Ranger/Simon Hurley peek is up. I am sooooooo excited to try this technique! I'm so glad this is the last official class on Friday because I think this is going to be a challenge..a good challenge...that will take A LOT of practice. Jennifer McGuire has a really good video for this technique too.

I'll give you my completely honest opinion to ease your FOMO. I've done 3 events and while the goodie bag from this event is the best I've gotten, I think the cards from the March 2022 event were the best. Don't get me wrong, the cards for this event are great but it seemed like many of the cards from the last event were more "advanced".

I'm #teampeek and did a Facetime with my bestie on Tuesday night when my box arrived so we could open them together. Wow - so much great stuff! A few of the projects I'm not excited about (Brutus Monroe...however I do like the die we got, just not the project). I'll probably break for lunch during that class on Friday. I did the homework for 4 classes last night and will tackle some of the others this weekend. I did watch the videos provided for Kristina, Jenn & Michelle's classes and I thought they were extremely helpful! The "extras" in the goodie bag were fabulous as well!! I don't want to spoil anything for those that are #teamnopeek so I'll just leave it at that I'm really excited about the event!

I had one of the items in my shopping cart already, and had debated another. A third is an item I already have but it will eventually need to be replaced.

I agree with pinklady that some cards from last event were more advanced. But with those advanced cards where some ppl had a meltdown and what maybe cost one of the best companies to leave the event. Hopefully we won't have another ones of those this time. The cards maybe more on the simple side , but I'm happy with the stamps and dies and stencils. We can definitely make some nice cards with them. The goody bag is great! I do like the mixture of cards we'll make, holiday, fall, birthday and I guess I would put them in a thinking of you group. I'm looking forward to the weekend and making cards and to see if there will be drama this time 🤣.

Okay. I'm feeling very overwhelmed right now.
I just went through my box, made sure everything was there - compared everything in the box to the list they provided so I don't have to pay close attention at the unboxing. Everything was there, thankfully.
Tried to put each Friday class into a large Ziploc bag with the class time on it, then remembered I had printed off the PDF instruction sheets - so added those to each bag. Read the PDFs to see what else I need - DANG! There are so many components to each class! I need magnetic sheets to put the dies on once I cut them apart. How many card bases are needed? What color inks? I very quickly got flustered and had to walk away. Friday is feeling like it's going to be a mess for me. The pace of a class every hour... I'm not sure I can do it.
I should focus on the Saturday and Sunday classes first, I guess. Get those ready to go, and then decide which Friday classes I want to do. Am I overthinking this?? I don't want to be stressed out all weekend. I want to enjoy this.

MD, don't be overwhelmed. You don't need the magnetic sheets. They're nice to have but its not necessary. BTW, I buy these 4x6 sheets from amazon and I don't peel the adhesive backing off. Back in March I only did one Friday class along with the instructor. You're right, it was just too much and I like fast paced classes. Maybe pick only a couple (every other class?) and work on those. I've done all homework for Saturday and Sunday. Just sit down with the booklet and read each classes homework section (or pre-class prep) before you start cutting or gathering stuff together. The homework was really easy but watch the three videos (I watched P&M twice). Usually there are three cards per class. It's been said many times, don't be stressed. Just do as much as you want "live" and do the rest after. The videos will be there.

I don't want to be stressed out all weekend. I want to enjoy this. Yes? At least overstressing. You. Will. Be. Fine. Devine. Remember Catherine’s email from 8/18? She said, “ But here’s the thing, friends, you don’t have to complete every card in every class. In fact, let’s take that expectation right off the table! This is a weekend to learn, try, create and enjoy a stress-free time. We truly encourage you to take your time and do the classes as you can, when you can. All classes are recorded and will be available to watch for a minimum of a year after this event. And remember, you’re watching instructors who have created their class cards a few times as they created the class, not to mention thousands of other cards using similar techniques. If this is your first time trying a technique, relax and enjoy the learning process!”My impression from past events* was that a small minority of participants—including a Pea or two!—are accomplished NASCAR card makers who make every or most cards during the event… but that the vast majority of participants don’t even try. Some make a handful, some half, and some kick back and enjoy the show don’t make any until afterwards to go at their own pace. People are still posting cards for the March event. *and a lot of time reading/visiting on FB during the last one since I couldn’t make any cards due to an injury ETA I’m skipping the event this time, but had registered and saw some sneaks.

Some of the most well known cardmakers don’t use magnetic sheets, or just for infinity type dies or ones with 40 million tiny bits. I used to use them, then removed almost all of them because they made my die bins much heavier and took up so much more space. The dies don’t get damaged being loose in pockets. Quite a few companies ship them loose. It’s not as if they have sharp edges that will dull or chip like knives. A small magnetic automotive parts bowl/dish holds my dies when dumped out of a pocket or before being put back into a pocket Some people love magnetic sheets for organizing and that’s terrific. But they are not necessary to enjoy this event. Just have some baggies or pockets on hand.

Thanks GiantsFan and CardBoxer . I did the homework for the first two Saturday classes and they were easy. Feeling a little less stressed now. Last year, Friday was like a “warm up” day. I don’t remember getting detailed instructions, and in one class all they did was talk about our hobby. While I’m excited to receive all the new supplies this year and the instructions on how to do them, I know there’s no way I can follow along and complete one, let alone six or seven, on Friday. back to getting the homework done for the other two Saturday classes. 🙂

Regarding the Friday classes, I would say only work on the ones you like the most. I had tried to complete all of them last Spring during the March event, but as I was working on one and feeling stressed at keeping up (I had messed it up and had to redo some steps) I thought "I don't even like this card, why am I stressing about it?". So then I focused on the classes and cards I did like and the day was so much more fun. I still tuned into the other classes because I like the feeling of being live and participating, but didn't worry about the projects.
Just last month I made 2 more of the Friday cards from last Spring and ended up enjoying the process, but there was no stress at keeping up involved.
That said, I do enjoy challenging myself and try to keep up with the Saturday and Sunday classes. I inevitably end up dropping one class on each day because I'm just tired or don't feel like it, though.

Yes! There was one Friday class last year that I didn't do during the event because I wasn't a fan of the card made. I did later spend time with the stamp set and made my own cards. I usually complete all the Sat/Sun classes. Although last event I had a new crafter friend join and we needed to slow down and ended up skipping one each day and met later to complete those.
We are West coasters, so we also start right after the first class is done and watch everything on replay. There are three of us that do the event together so we pause often as needed and try to make sure no one feels pressured to work faster than they want to.
