I started the homework last night. Hoping to finish it this weekend. I need to remember to condition the stamps and check that they all stamp properly. Same. I'm happy to be finished die cutting all of the Spellbinders' pieces, although I enjoyed seeing everything as I cut it out. I just have to finish the homework for the companies that have videos to watch - Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant, and Crafter's Companion. I'm glad they told us to condition our stamps, it's a good tip to have going forward. I always forgot.

Unboxing tonight! Don’t forget to watch! Thank you. While I do have a reminder in my phone, 10 to 1 I would have forgotten! I have a question for all of you who have unboxed:
For the last class on Sunday, was there supposed to be a shadow die for the large word in card #1? Instruction #6 for that card says to cut out a shadow for the word die but it's unclear if it's cut by hand, or if there should be a shadow for that word included. Anyhow did your kit include a shadow for it?

My die set had 4 dies in the package: polka dot hat, astrisk shaped die, Cheers word and Cheers shadow.

Ugh. Trying to watch the unboxing but my screen keeps freezing. I know others are having the same problem.

I watched the replay of the unboxing and it was great. Catherine does such a great job each time with the quantity and quality of products.

Yeah, the replay was so much better. There was no freezing or internet issues. I’m so glad we can talk about the box now! 😁
My thoughts…
- Really happy with the tool caddy. I would never spend the money for one but glad to get it. I think it will come in handy when creating as my tools tend to get buried.
- So excited to try the magic mat. I’ve heard so many pros and cons that I’ve totally waffled on getting one.
- I know it’s cheesy but I’m so happy we got an engraved stamp block. Love the rectangle shape.
- Happy to try the tidy towel. I use baby wipes so I don’t have one.
- Super excited to try the stamp foam for the Ranger class. I actually had that in my Gina K cart when my box arrived. So glad I had not pushed pay now. 😂
- I need to find good uses for the pouches. I seem to be collecting a lot of those and they are taking up a lot of room not being used. 😀
- My only negative is that I’m bummed the card bases were not cut and scored. I complete understand why and they did the right thing but I suck at scoring so for me that was such a treat. The positive is that I’m still working my way thru the paper from the last two events so I have some pre-scored card bases left.
I do think the Friday goodie bag was the best of the last 3 events. While I don’t think these are the best cards I’ve made at a C&C event, I definitely think I can use the stamps to make cards more my style. I’ve modified the Lawn Fawn cards a little to use some of my own patterned paper. I really like the Pink & Main products but the cards are so not my style. I’m completely doing something different for that class.
I think it’s going to be a fun exhausting weekend. I can’t wait!

I had just bought the Magic Mat a few weeks ago, but I'm sure I can always use a spare. I also have one of the tool caddies but they're so handy that I'll gladly use two! I use it for my blending brushes, but have also used it for my tools and that worked really well, too. It's perfect for tweezers and small scissors and stuff like that that gets lost on your desk. I'm really pleased with everything. I'm not pleased that I got called into work for that Friday, but what can you do. At least my boss is out of town on the Monday afterwards so I can sleep at my desk lol.

My dies keep getting embedded in the mat and won't come off. Perhaps the pressure on my Big Shot is too much? I am excited about the classes too, have got almost all of the homework/pre-class work done for the Saturday/Sunday classes. Have not attempted the SpellBinders yet - hearing about many tiny die cuts, which have a habit of getting LOST in my scrap room. Need to review the book again for that class. Anyone watching the Brutus Monroe clip tonight? I believe it is on pre-class work. Quite a few people last night thought the unboxing was on FB Messenger. I kept getting messages from people looking for the video. Jeepers. I hope they don't have that same problem when the actual classes start.

I didn't think that the Spellbinders prep was THAT bad 😉 though it certainly reinforces why I don’t buy the super small piece dies for sure! The guide in the book on how to lay the dies out on each color paper is super helpful, especially if you want to run several colors of paper through at once. I do wish that they sent maybe 1/4 sheets of each color cardstock, or even an 8th sheet. Those little fiddle pieces of paper were a bit of a pain to keep track of IMO. What really helped me with organizing those bitty die cuts was to have 3, half sheets of paper on my desk with card #1, 2, and 3 written on them and putting each die cut on its coordinating sheet as I popped them out of the die.

This was my thoughts about SB, too. It was just a lot of die cutting little pieces. I separated the pieces similarly and it worked well.

May be turn off messenger for the weekend? Lots of people won't be able to find the links. Like Catherine and Meghann mentioned you have to wait a few seconds for SCT to post the link. It will be in guides and (I think) at the top of the page. I've done three of these and have taken lots of other FB classes and have never had a problem finding the link. But maybe their operating system is different (phone, tablet, diff operating system, etc. ETA: I didn't care much for my Magic Mat either.

And I'm looking forward to trying the SH foam. I'm on the fence over the tool caddy. I pretty set in my ways of storage, but I will see if I can incorporate it. I'm weird in that I like cutting and scoring my own cardstock. Yes, you read that right! It's Zen for me to just cut all the paper, then score, then fold. Do you use the stamp blocks for are they for display? I have my C&C blocks on display. The first one had the month and year on it. I wish the other two did. I LOVE the GinaK stamp blocks, because of the indentation for your fingers and the grid pattern etched on them. Previously I used the ones from Stampendous with the indentation, but those are skinnier. GinaK's have a good height to them. After doing the hw, I'm looking forward to Kristina's, Jenn's and Taylor's classes the most. Not that the others aren't good, but I love critters and leaves. I'm excited for next weekend.

Is everyone ready for this weekend?
I have not done any prep for the Ranger class on Friday but all the other prep I wanted to get done for the weekend is done.
I need to make a run to the grocery store for lunch & snacks but that’s it. I’m so excited. I plan to craft my heart out!

I’ve done all the prep. A friend who is also taking class came over yesterday and we prepped Vicki B’s project. We both also colored the Lawn Fawn images. We have a third friend joining for the weekend and that way we won’t need to share pens (they don’t have Copics).
What’s everyone planning on eating/snacking for the event? Last one we all contributed various charcuterie items and ate that all three days, but we got burned out by day three. So far we have chicken salad sandwiches and fruit salad for one day and chicken pot pie soup for another. Maybe DoorDash on day 3? We’ll see.
ETA. I hate the Magic Mat. I wanted to love it for my Gemini. The dies get embedded and have to be peeled out. It also warped very quickly. I would have tried heating it to flatten it, but due to the embedded dies issues, I ended up tossing it.

I haven't tried mine yet but if I hate it, too, I plan to use it for a cutting mat with my x-acto knife. I haven't even thought about food - thanks for the reminder . My husband usually cooks but sometimes I'll cook on Saturday - I'll have to make sure he knows I for sure won't cook this Saturday. A big pot of chilli that we could eat all weekend sounds good. I have plenty of Halloween candy to get me through for when my energy dips. I've done about a third of the prep work. I'm off tomorrow so I'll finish up the rest then.

I haven't tried the magic mat yet but I'm using selfhealing mats already they work great. I do use sizzix plates in my Gemini and have to have a chipboard as a shim, but I used the same plate for 3 years now. I how have to change the selfhealing mat every 4 months. I like the ones from HL they hold up the best. The ones I got at the dollar tree is need tossing after a few weeks.
For food I will make some tuna salad, grilled cheese/panini style so its less greasy. Carrots, apple and popcorn for snack. Maybe I'll make some brownies or cookies Friday evening to have something sweet. For dinner maybe shrimp tacos or seafood pasta. Both are easy and fast to make.
I'm working on Friday and decided to just watch the videos in the evening and make the cards later. If I get inspired maybe make one or two. My friends won't come over this time , we'll get together at a later time and make the cards they like. They don't buy the box and with the stencil using classes get a little tricky sharing and staying on time.

I'm done with all the homework. In fact some of the Friday cards I just went ahead and completed. I love the Elle's Studio cards and they were so easy.
Looking forward to the meet and greets this week.

Still plugging away at homework here. I am Sloooooow Today will be trying to figure out what’s what with the class with the box template (and a bunch of notices about it) to see if I can find the info with the real template. Wish me luck! I don't think I’m even going to prep for one of the classes, the one with the big birthday hat (I think it’s the last one on Sunday), etc. I’ll watch it with a glass of wine to see if the technique interests me enough to try on something else. *** Does anyone know what the large black and white sunflower is for? *** As far as the Magic Mat goes, it works beautifully in my Platinum. I had been wondering about it for some time, so I’m glad we got one. I’m sold, when it wears out I’ll be buying another one. On the other hand, I’ve been trying to use the tool holder, and I think I’m too used to the way I store things as I work. But, it works great to hold my blending brushes after I wash them out. I was missing one die, which has since arrived - they are ON IT! Also received a stamp set where one important image has a 1/4” divot in it and won’t print, so I’ve been filling the unstamped part in with a paint brush. Hopefully it’s replacement is on its way as well. i have the entire weekend blocked out, so it’s me, in my office, watching and playing. Food-wise, I’ll probably pick up a couple things in the deli department of my grocery store, as well as some chocolate T-minus 4 days and counting…

I'm glad to hear a good review for the magic mat. I haven't used it yet. What is the sandwich you use in your Platinum for the magic mat? Yeah, I've completely changed up my Pink & Main cards and they don't use the flock. I'll watch the class to see how the flock works but I was not impressed by the cards in book. The positive is that I really like the stamps and dies just not the samples.

I pretty much finished all the homework this past weekend. I do need to get my space organized. I like to clear everything off my desk except the stuff for the classes and I haven't had a chance to do that yet.
I did a lot of prep work so in many of the classes I'll just be assembling the pieces. I'll do the stenciling in real time though since that is fairly easy. I'd like to go ahead & color the images from the Your Next Stamp class so I'll try to get to those today/tomorrow. I am slow when it comes to coloring so I like to get that done ahead of the classes (already colored Lawn Fawn as well).
Food - not sure what I am going to do yet. I might have my son get Raising Cane's chicken fingers and I can eat on those for a couple of days for lunch/dinner. I'll need some kind of chocolate snack as well!
So excited!!!

pinklady, I don’t have the upgraded mats for the Platinum so for die cutting it’s just the magic mat, paper and die, and clear spellbinders plate. I’ll be interested to see what you do for the Pink and Main class! Sat down a cut all the stuff for the Vicky Boutin class while watching Gina K this morning. Keeping in mind that I’m unfamiliar with all of the instructors, I can totally see why they chose her class to kick it all off. She’s very clear, laid back, and with a personality that appears to be very good for teaching. I am holding myself back from playing with that gorgeous stencil! Speaking of which, has anyone used any of the supplies to make other things recently?

I took off Thursday to catch up - had the twin grandkids all weekend so couldn't get anything done. Believe I have most of the Sat/Sun class homework done, need to decide what I'm going to do on Friday and get those prepped. I did manage to clean off my desk and surrounding space, so I've got a clear workstation! And MichyM , I haven't yet tried to use any of the supplies for other things but I will at some point! Was there a Meet n Greet today? I gotta check FB to see when those are.

I pulled different colors for the Pink and Main and Brutus Monroe classes. Also not sure if I’ll do those this weekend or go back later.

Did anyone catch Michael tonight on the Brutus Monroe prep? I really like him! He's easy to listen to and you can tell he loves what he's doing. I’m not in the event this go round but since you mentioned Michael, did you watch him during the last event? He had technical problems videotaping his class so went back and re-filmed the entire thing so we’d have a better experience even after the event. I like him tons. Have fun! Eat snacks!

Just watching the Spellbinders meet and greet (I missed it earlier today). Is anyone else going to order the sneak peek item (don't want to spoil it for anyone who is going to watch the video later) for themselves? I AM, and I don't even celebrate Christmas ;D Curious what the price point will be.....
The Spellbinders host (cannot recall her name) is adorable, I love her energy.

I was planning on grabbing one for a scrappy friend, as long as it’s within budget. Super cute idea.
