Are metal dies among the tools you use when creating layouts? If so, please share your favorite or most frequently used metal dies for your pages. TFS.

If I am using a metal die, it is going to be a label shape, heart or star.

I actually use metal dies a lot for layouts. Stacked alphas for diy thickers, stacked tiny shapes, journal spots, scene building, borders, Polaroids for framing a photo or smaller ones for an embellishment...

I have not. If I need a cut shape for a layout, I'm more likely to use my Cameo.

Yup! I still have my QuicKutz 2x2 and 4x4 collection. I also have 4 alphabet sets.

I have several alphabets that I use all the time. I believe they’re made by Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I do and I'm trying to do so more often - hearts and stars are probably most used

No, but I have thought about investing in the whole die thing. I have a Silhouette Cameo, though, so it's hard to justify it.

Nope, not at all. When I need a die cut shape, I cut it with my Silhouette Cameo. I purposely bought an electronic cutter so I wouldn't need to collect a bunch of metal dies, LOL. To each their own, I guess! ETA: I do use a lot of die cuts on my layouts though, if that's part of what you're asking.

I use my alpha dies, lots - and I have quite a few different alphas. I use stamps/dies to make my own embellishments I use dies (without matching stamps)in various shapes to make embellishments
I don’t have any electric machines like a cricket or cameo - so dies it is

I do rarely. I go through phases where I might use them often, then they'll sit neglected for months on end.

I have recently started buying some metal dies to try out. I am hoping to transition to using metal letter dies for titles as opposed to Thickers.

I mostly use my Quickutz alphas, but I do have other 2x2 dies, plus larger shapes.

The Elizabeth crafts planner sized dies fit the original citrus twist tn albums perfectly for a huge range of out of page protectors pages with minimal measuring and stuffing around and I use these all the time/have a big collection. These dies also fit the ae album rings (but make a smaller width page as it’s only 4” not 6”) so I’ll use them for dd etc as well. Huge range, relatively cheap if you get them on sale, lots of intricate border designs and pocket designs etc with minimal effort. Also have a few interactive die designs if you want to get fancy. Note this is the planner sized dies NOT the sidekick size (you can use the sidekick ones but you have to cover and then repunch the holes… be warned!) Apart from these dies I use circle dies a lot so I can centre my holes or scatter them over a page as I find with punches I’m often limited on my placement as they won’t fit into the centre etc. .

I have alot of dies, but use them most for cards.
For layouts, I use mostly basic shapes--circles, stars, sometimes hexagons. Taylored Expressions and Spellbinders most often. Love my Daisy Mae distressed edge ones, too.
Also have a couple of fonts for letters and one for numbers, so sometimes use those for titles.

Mostly use dies if they are part of a stamp and die set or for borders. I use my punches for hearts, circles and hexagons. I have a Big Shot and use it occasionally. I don't use it as much as I thought I would, but I also don't scrap as often as I thought I would! I remind myself that eventually I will have more time to scrapbook and it will be used more then.

I use all the dies. Ha. I seem to have a die for almost any occasion. If not, I can make a title. My second hand craft store had the metal dies with a full alphabet on a 4 x 8" die for $1.

I don't currently have my Big Shot set up in my scrap space or I am sure I would use them more. Right now I am not using them at all. I have a small selection of basic shapes in wafer thin dies, and a few of the thicker Sizzix dies (an alphabet, tag, and some others). If I am working at my LSS I will use their dies when scrapping. Right now I use my Silhouette if I need anything cut. That said, I would say, if I had it all set up punches are the easiest, dies second easiest, and the Silhouette is still a bit of an effort to use. When I get out my Silhouette, I make an effort to cut what I need for more than one page at a time.

It depends on the layout. If it’s a fall layout, I tend to use fall themed dies.
If you want mutli-purpose dies, I recommend the Foundation die sets from Queen & Co. They get most of my spending money these days. The Foundation die sets can be used for both card making and scrapbooking. I have no affiliation with them, other than overly enthusiastic customer.

The die I use most often is probably my nested circle. So easy to use it and get the perfect size circle. I also have several alphas that I use frequently for titles instead of Thickers.

Once in a great while and it's usually nested circles.

I like getting stamps with matching dies (mostly from Concord and 9th, The Stamp Market and Paper Trey Ink). I try to go with stamps/shapes that will be easy to use on a lot of projects - then I have a stamping/die cut session and keeps all of these divided boxes so I can easily pull together a card.

I use metal dies on almost every LO. Which ones depends on what I’m doing. I use a title on every page, so I almost always use dies for the title. I have 100+ fonts, so I have a lot of choices. Most of my dies are QK because I started collecting them years ago and QK was the predominant brand. I was also on a QK design team back in the day.
My most used dies after the fonts are probably circle dies. It’s easy enough to cut a square or rectangle but the circles are just easier to die cut.

I apparently am a collector of dies, not a user. But I also have a love-hate relationship with my electronic cutter so it doesn't get used much either. I need a "Using your Silhouette for Dummies" class that has step-by-step instructions that comes with illustrations.

Can I use another brand’s thin dies in the QK? I’ve seen some dies that I might use often enough but not cost effective f I had to buy another machine to use them.

The Revolution is my all time favorite machine! It does 90% of my dies and it’s small, portable, and compact. Pretty much all the wafer thin dies are the same thickness now. BUT watch for the ones that are in a plastic backing (I’m thinking of the old Sizzix). Those are just a little bit thicker. Don’t force your Revolution any harder than you do now—the gears are plastic and aging.

I have some “PL” metal dies that cut cards for the layout that perfectly match the PL 4x6 and 2x3 cards. I cut my own filler cards with these.
I bought a crap-ton (or maybe it should be “scrap-ton” LOL) of PL life kits with so many cards I’ll never use. Then I found these, and I really like the ability to use up my card stock stash.

Thanks for your responses &/or participation in the poll. Like the majority of you, I use metal dies when creating layouts. Alphas, labels, tabs, nesting shapes, etc. are my favorite & frequently used dies. No, but I have thought about investing in the whole die thing. I have a Silhouette Cameo, though, so it's hard to justify it. I'm the opposite. I've considered a Cameo 4 primarily for backgrounds, but struggle to justify it due to my die inventory!
