I hope your mother receives great care moving forward. Waiting in the ER is never easy, but I can't believe an elderly, sick, fall victim had to sit in that waiting room for so long.
Lots of hugs to you, friend.

I hope your mom is doing well. I don’t envy your PT/OT fight with her.

I hope that she is soon on the mend. It’s so frightening to watch your elderly parent hospitalized with a serious health concern. {Hugs}

Thank you for asking! I’m sorry that I wasn't on yesterday - I had a training after work, so I was at school literally from 7 am to 7 pm. It was a long day. They want her to go to acute rehab and are being forceful about it with her, so I am thinking that is what will happen. The case worker is supposed to call me right before school this morning. She is doing relatively well with the COVID, but they can't send her to rehab while she is still testing positive. So, I don't know yet how long she will be in. I feel awful that we didn't pack a bag for her with things for a hospital stay - that is on my list of things to do so that next time we both will be better prepared if a visit to the ER results in her being admitted. My mother used to be the most active person in my life. I fondly remember going to aerobics classes with her in high school. We also used to hike frequently with the Sierra Club. She started to slow down, but basically stopped all forms of exercise - even walking - once COVID locked things down. Now she is so weak that she simply refuses to get exercise. She lives at a very posh “independent/assisted living” facility that offers aqua aerobics in their pool and chair exercise classes on their internal television channel, but she refuses to do any of it. With her mental decline, it is so hard to also watch her decline physically. Rehab is necessary because she needs to be able to get up if/when she falls again. Her building’s security had to come into her apartment and help get her off of the floor. How hard she will work at rehab is another question. sigh.

I’m just seeing this and am glad to read an update already that she’s holding her own with the Covid. Hopefully she’ll embrace the concept of rehab so she can regain more independence.
Your comment about your mom having been the most active person in your life resonates with me. My mama was that way for me. That decline in her boundless energy and vivaciousness was the hardest thing to experience. I’m sending you a hug.
