I've been looking for what seems like forever. Worked 2 days for an absolute lunatic who thought we were besties right when she met me. Turned out she was truly a loon & she fired 9 people within 7 days before that. Ooy! Well, I applied with this guy who seemed okay. He and his wife called for a phone interview. They're from France and they put their baby's welfare as a priority. They didn't want a young "babysitter" and he said that my resume sounded great. We'll meet in person tomorrow afternoon. Hope it goes well!!
Some of you told me to keep looking and this pays almost TWICE what my last job paid!! Hoping it's all as good as it seems...... It'll be 3 days/week to start and then eventually 5 days, but they said that they could work around my having time off for doctors and personal situations. Great!!
So, fingers crossed, I might come home tomorrow with a definite "Yes". I'm psyched. Baby is only 2 mos old. Wish me luck!!!!!!
UPDATE: 9/9/22 The meeting went very well. I'm a bit overwhelmed by their estate. Larger than any home I've ever been in (and one Nanny job had 6 bedrooms--I lost count). This one has 8 bedrooms/10 bathrooms. The family was so sweet & down to earth. I spent an hour there. They'll get back to me this weekend. They have 1 other prospective Nanny to meet with. The dad walked me to my car and said, "I just want you to know that you're at the top of our list!" Hope so! (I don't think I've ever been this invested or hopeful). Guess I should keep looking just in case...............
Ooh, and they told me in advance that I'd have the week off between Christmas and New Year's & I'd be paid. I'm not used to that kindness, and I hope that they appreciate my experience. I'm just worried about my age (they're not allowed to ask my age though...) Ugh! Wishing & hoping this weekend!!!!!!!!
UPDATE: I posted within this thread, but it's easier to put it here. The wife had applied months ago for an Au Pair program. It came through. That was the other person they were going to meet with (virtually). The wife hired her and she'll be here in October. The husband told me that he really wanted me instead, and asked if it didn't work out with the Au Pair, if he could still contact me. I said, "Yes, but I'll be trying my best to get a new job this month. We can still touch base whenever you'd want."
I can't envision a nicer, calmer home than theirs, but I've been already sending dozens more resumes to other people. We'll see what happens. I'm trying not to get too upset, but I have 3 weeks until I run out of my savings, so I'm praying something comes up, stat!!

Thank you all. You're so sweet!! This new family lives in the same development as my last family (the "6 weeks off" family), so it's a bit far away, but it'll be worth it if they're a normal family. I'll check back in and let y'all go if it's a DEFINITE go after tomorrow!
