Good Morning! I just went back and read about your MIL scrapmaven. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly today. I am on another conference call. Some weeks, I feel like this is all I do... I started my fall cards yesterday. I want to work on them some more tonight. Dinner is going to be sirloin steak, potatoes and a salad. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Everyone, This weekend, I began reading and forgot to post. scrapmaven I am so sorry that your MIL is needing a pacemaker. I have known people who have them and have a great quality of life. I hope that you find a wonderful place for her to live. leannec Good luck finding your forever condo. stormsts Your dinner sounds delicious. It has turned cold here. Over the weekend, I was in long sleeves, long pants, socks and a jacket. On Friday night, there was some people upset in our Mexican train group and it carried through the weekend. It’s so unnecessary. I don’t do drama; so I prayed for it to pass. Today, I am doing my usual cleaning and tonight I am going to a new Bible study. Since DH and I are busy tonight, we are having hamburgers and french fries for dinner. YDS is supposed to be home. I hope all of you have a peaceful day.

We are having lasagne for dinner tonight.
Nothing really exciting going on here. I am trying to finish out the remaining items on my chore & errand list that I didn't get to in the last few days because I was feeling lousy from my COVID booster (Thurs & Fri) and/or busy with other commitments (weekend). Weekend highlights: DH coming home yesterday with lots of stories from his trip to visit old friends out of state, and my dad calling to thank me for the birthday gift I sent him - he said he had already dog-eared the page in his catalog and was going to order that exact item, but I beat him to it so it showed up at his house on his birthday! (I had already called and wished him a HB and told him to watch for a package to be delivered.)

I am home from work today ... not feeling super hot ... so I got a substitute ... I will still go look at two or three condos tonight with ex though ... need to find something ASAP! I'm now running into the problem that the possession dates of new listings are too far away to suit my needs ... I need to be out by November 4th ... sigh! The home inspection went pretty well ... there were a couple of concerns but nothing major ... The sale will be final on Wednesday ... ack! Dinner tonight will be from my Hello Fresh box ... "Mexican-Inspired Shrimp Tacos" ... yum!

A quiet start to the week here. It was my cleaner day, so I was up and ready early, only to get a call 20 minutes after he was due to say he was running late. I am not sure if I am totally satisfied with the company we are using - we seem to have a different cleaner every 2 weeks, so I have to explain everything each time, and then most seem to have difficulty understanding I only want the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen fully cleaned, and the floors washed on the ground level. Today, I gad to tell him not to scrub down our leather sofa!
After lunch, I made a quick trip to the grocery store for a few things we need for the next few days. Dinner with be grilled steak, baked potatoes and a vegetable, maybe spinach.

Hello friends! Tonight's dinner is a new to us recipe: Marry Me Chicken, from the Instant Pot website. It smells yummy so far. I just am slightly annoyed because the recipe says "1/2 chicken stock." Half a carton? Half a cup? (I used half a cup, and it looks fine.) It also mentions a cup of grated cheese...but nowhere in the instructions does it say when to add it. I have a pot of pasta boiling right now to have with it, so I'll mix it in when I add the pasta. We both took this past Friday off of work and went apple picking. It was the PERFECT day to go: 60* (when we were used to 80s earlier in the week), and hardly anyone there. Parking was plentiful and we had our own wagon on the ride over to the orchard. We made an apple cobbler on Saturday and it is delicious. Hope you all have a great week! ![]() ![]()

Good Morning.
I haven't posted in a week or so.
I haven't done any cooking to speak of.
I have spent everyday at my mil's. She passed away last Wednesday. I was with my two sister in laws when my mother in law took her last breath. It was sad but also a relief that she is now free and finally out of the bed she was stuck in for the last 6 months.
Sorry to be all doom and gloom this Monday morning.
Today is going to be a good day...

I'm sending prayers for all of you. On Friday night, there was some people upset in our Mexican train group and it carried through the weekend. It’s so unnecessary. I don’t do drama; so I prayed for it to pass. Uncomfortable, isn't it? When our friends starting arguing on Saturday night, Jeremy and I were completely taken aback. I so do not want my vacation ruined by them. Baking day at my home and it smells yummy That's a whole lot of baking, sister! I'd much rather do that than do what I'm doing. And what am I doing? Spinning the freaking wheels around in my head. I have so much to do this week. Like stuff due Friday. And I'm so overwhelmed by all I have to do, that I'm almost confused on what I need to do and having a hard time finding the discipline to make it happen. It has been a very long time since I've been in this situation. Reminds me of taking 4 classes in college and trying to sort out what was due when and when I needed to do things to get everything done on time. Anyway, my brain is having a hard time working it out. You'll all be proud of me. I actually went to JoAnn's and the Halloween store yesterday all by myself. I had some anxiety about it, but then I reminded myself that I was looking at Halloween things so it should be fun. And I had fun. And spent way too much money. I have a taste for creamy chicken and wild rice soup. Don't know if we will have that for dinner or what, but I want it. Need to get a tighter plan together for dinners this week. I did sign up for a Home Chef box and that comes on Thursday.

The Birdhouse Lady (hugs) Sending happy thoughts to you and yours. lucyg Sure am and thank you!! I need to start on my idea of doing a page a week for a yearly scrapbook, and this will definitely be in there. Maybe I'll start with last week and make it a nontraditional day start instead of January 1. My husband is looking into taking a day long zamboni driving course, and that is DEFINITELY going in there when it happens too! (Though those lessons are summer-only.)

I'm sorry for your loss, The Birdhouse Lady. I'm glad you were able to be there as your MIL passed and know how difficult the last six months must have been for the whole family. You and your DH are adorable, rymeswithpurple. I'm dragging a bit today and trying not to look at the bags still sitting in the foyer. I did unpack my suitcase and put it all away yesterday but this haul of crafting supplies (some class stuff, some giveaways, some won, some bought) needs to be culled/organized before I schlep everything upstairs. The fridge saga continues and I cannot cook the way I like to if I have to make 20 trips to the garage for needed items. On the plus side, I am getting in a LOT of steps and do think twice about grazing/snacking. The new fridge should be here Thursday so I don't plan to grocery shop until it is up and running. There is enough Thai leftovers for DS and I, but DH will be home earlier than I thought (fingers crossed, around 9ish) and likely hungry so I will pick up a pizza for tonight, too. Half Hawaiian and half chicken bacon ranch. And wings and knotchos.

hi ladies!
So sorry about your loss birdhouse lady, such a sad time for your family.
DH worked had to go in to work yesterday so I didn't cook the normal Sunday dinner. Mondays I look forward to leftovers but not today since I just cooked him brinner when he got home.
I made a chicken salad w/left over Costco chicken. I put green onion, celery and cranberries in it. DH will take that for lunch along with crackers and his beloved pbj he eats at late break.
DD had her big rival HS football game on Friday night that went into overtime until about 10:30. They won, thankfully and of course all that screaming in the cold night air she's come down with a cold. Today there is no school since its Rosh Hashannah so she's in bed (we gave her a covid test she's negative).
So I'm making her a pot of chicken soup the way she likes it, spicy. I use a small can of green enchilada sauce to kick it up a bit and I throw in some small potatoes and about 1/2 bag of Birdseye South West blend which has corn, black beans, peppers, onions.
I spent 1/2 the day on Sunday in my kitchen. Cleaning out drawers and a fridge clean out. Did some reorganizing and some prepping. Mopped, deep cleaned. Did some fall decorating. By the end of the day my back was hurting and I was glad DH wasn't home so I was glad not to have to cook Sunday dinner.
My kitchen looks so pretty today. Have a lovely Monday all!

rymeswithpurple what a darling picture! The Birdhouse Lady I am so sorry for your loss! I don't do drama. So sorry destined2bmom and jeremysgirl that your friends are not playing nice. Hope it all resolves quickly. DH woke up at 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep, got up which woke me up and he decided to go to work super early. I felt stress. Since having a break in next door my comfort level has dropped. Took me quite a while to go back to sleep. I see a nap on my future. I have things I need to do. We will see what gets done. Tonight is tri-tip, jasmine rice and roasted veggies.

The Birdhouse Lady: I’m so sorry about the loss of your MIL. We have just been through this and it’s such a difficult time. Thinking of you.
Such weird weather today. It was drab and rainy, then sunny, then windy and cold, then rainy again. This has gone on all day.
Got caught up on some laundry and cleaned the bathroom. Also managed to get some reading in. Too cold for deck sitting though so I just snuggled up on the couch.
Supper was done in the slow cooker - roast beef, potatoes and carrots. Yummy and easy peasey!

destined2bmom I am trying to get a head-start with feeding the Young Adults starting this Sunday. I now have a great assortment of cookies so that I can put some out each Sunday for dessert. I will add to the cookies with brownies, blondies and rice-krispie squares. Easy and not messy and don't require a plate, a napkin is fine.

quiltz, how ambitious! Great accomplishment. The Birdhouse Lady, my sympathy to you and your family. ntsf, I hope each day you feel better. jeremysgirl and destined2bmom, how awkward, with quarreling friends. scrapmaven, I hope your mil feels much better after her pacemaker insertion. leannec, good luck tonight with the condo search and hope it gets your mind off of feeling crummy. No fun feeling icky! Marina, that is unsettling. I dont blame you. I made a pot of chili and grilled cheese. I should do more but not feeling 100% so I'm relaxing. Putting my to-do list off until tomorrow.

Marina that would make me uneasy too leannec 🤞🏻you like one tonight So sorry about your mil The Birdhouse LadyPicked Luke up from daycare early after work. Then we snuck & stopped at the pumpkin patch at a church next to his daycare. My sil doesn’t like it when he’s not present for every single “first”. The senior citizens working the patch were thrilled he was there. He enjoyed playing in the pumpkins so much. We’ll probably stop there again he loved it so much. Made kielbasa with roasted cauliflower, broccolini & mushrooms, pierogies & salad.
