My box arrived!!! YAY!!! Thank you mbanda for listing the quantity and measurements for the cs we will need for the classes. I'll start on prep asap. I ended up ordering the mini inks so at least I don't have to figure out the colors. Getting very excited 😁

My box arrived, hurrah! I just took a peek through and I am so excited. I don't have much in the way of PF items (other than their ink cubes) so I am totally ready to dig into all things floral and outdoorsy!

I'm doing the homework and man that rounded braided rectangle die is a pain in the butt! Since the dies are not attached, getting the two dies lined up enough for my OCD mind is a lot of work. And I have to run it thru my Platinum 6 twice to get a complete cut. And it's MESSY!
I highly recommend you cut all these ahead of time.

And yes, very messy!

For anyone having problems with the rounded and braided die, I had success the first time, thanks to those who posted they had issues with it. Thank you for the head’s up!
The sandwich I used in my platinum 6 was:
Magic Mat 100lb Hammermill Die 100lb CS shim Clear plate
And I ran it through 3 times before removing it from the machine.
I had only one little circle that I had to poke out. Most of the bits stuck to the magic mat, but I was able to run my fingernails across them while holding it over the trash and they were easily gone in about 30 seconds.
So happy to be starting the prep, and getting excited for next weekend 👍🏻

Slight hijack… MichyM do you like your magic mat? I have not tried it yet. I just forget about it until after the fact.

I bought it early last fall. I still have the one from the fall SCT event sitting somewhere as a backup, so it’s lasted quite a while and made a ton of dies. When I read past threads about them, IIRC the majority of the girls liked it with only a few saying they didn’t.

I haven't used my magic mat yet ,but I have been using selfhealing mats for die cutting for years now. It was the best idea I have seen on YouTube. And still using the same cutting plates- almost no wrapping. I think now 4 or 5 years. I do change my self healing mat out.

I have a question about Class 4 prep. If you’re team no peek, please don’t read any further! * * * * * There isn’t any homework for this class. It looks like the only thing I can really do beforehand is stamp the large image onto the WC paper twice, is that correct?
Also, about Make n Takes. Do you typically do them before the weekend begins or after? Just curious.
And a complaint (can’t help myself). Not sure if I’m the only one with this one, but why couldn’t PF reduce the length of the stamp in Class 3 by maybe a 1/2 so it would fit normally in a stamping platform? It makes so much more sense to me since it would barely be reducing the size of the images. I found it a pain to line everything up diagonally. Makes me think I won’t be buying any of their long stamps :/

I didn't actually use the long stamp. I shortcut the class and just cut extra of the washi tape images since the finished card isn't a traditional slim line card. I agree with you, I think it's strange to make stamps that don't fit into the standard stamp tool.
I'm doing the make and takes during the weekend of the event. I've done most of the die cutting and heat embossing already.
Pink Fresh does have a video showing how to use log stamps on the door of the stamp tool instead of inside.

Thank you MichyM for the tips about the braided rectangle die - I'm starting my prep tomorrow so now I'll know what to do.
The long stamps annoy me, too, especially for storage. They could do them in 2 pieces, with the large image and die separately from the grouping of smaller ones - those could all be attached to each other still. It must be cheaper for manufacturing or something, I'm sure they've tried thinking of solutions.
I'm organizing my stamps right now and I think I'm going to have to use my fuse tool to cut some page protectors or something to create my own clear pouches for storage.

I just watched the unboxing so now I’m very excited! I have a memory Misti too so I can put those long stamps in there and stamp them out and it works great. My platinum six cut right through the braided die without a problem. Just put it in at an angle. I think pinkfresh is always very generous with the products at these events and I’m excited.

Just a FYI: I happened to be on the FB page, and they have offered their previous discount again because so many people missed it. Valid through this weekend. I took advantage of it a couple weeks ag, but realize I want one set of cubes, but not worth the $7.50 to ship unfortunately. Also, very short How-to videos for some of the Make and Takes are posted in guides.

A good friend of mine who is into gardening texted me photos of her anemones in bloom earlier this week, so I could resist making her a card out of the anemones set from our kit. Lesson learned, I picked a shade a little too dark for the shadowed side of the petals. Have you played with your supplies at all yet? I’m really looking forward to watercoloring these in the class next weekend!

Also girls, could you talk me in or out of buying the entire set of reinkers with the 15% off coupon please? I have a complete collection of their cubes, but some are getting used up and drying out.
Have you ever bought any company’s full set of reinkers? Do you regret it? Do you use the reinkers straight from the bottle for ink blending or watercoloring?
Thanks!

Ok, now that we’re almost ready to begin, I’ve been waiting to see if anyone else brought this up.
Is anyone else amused by the sentiment for the mushrooms cards? “The magic is in you.” I mean, mushrooms and magic??? All I can Think of is magic mushrooms (yes I’m a child of the 60’s and 70’s 😁 And also, I can’t imagine sending a card that says “the magic is in you.” It’s just not a phrase I would ever use to describe another person.
So, is it just me? It’s ok if it is, but I need to know if I’m borderline nuts!

And then I stated ink blending them and now I really like them. Very different than all the florals. I too am not liking The Magic Is In You sentiment, but we have so many other choice in the stamps and pre made sentiment pack. Excited for all the classes today!

I totally got the magic mushroom vibe too. The mushrooms and the terrarium were the products I was most excited about when I opened my box. For whatever reason red mushrooms with white polka dots just make me happy. They are just different and not the average floral products. I like that they can be whimsical or nature-ish as well as masculine or feminine.

Ok ladies, how was your first class? I thought the pace was good. I got both cards done as well as the make & take for this class. I'm not a gold person and typically swap for silver but stepped out of my comfort zone and used gold heat embossing where the instructors used it. Turns out I actually like it. I'm pretty happy with the first set of cards. Now for more coffee!

Thank you girls for seeing what I mentioned upthread! I really was wondering if my mind was the only one that went there. While I like the mushrooms and am looking forward to the class, it’s the sentiment that got me.
I’m loving the both the classes this morning, and the results so far. Unfortunately, I felt like Laura unnecessarily rushed us through her class, she started wrapping up a full 40 minutes before it was supposed to end.
That said, so far I prefer the laid-back pace of the PF classes (and participants) over the SCT event this past fall. I think I may check out more manufacturer events over SCT in the future.
