I read all fluffy books. Almost to the point of embarrassment.
I read to unwind. I don't want to tax my brain by reading anything that makes me think. For the most part, at least.
My go to genre of fluffy book is paranormal romance. Better if it has a vampire or werewolf as the main character.
Lately I've read Maggie Shayne novels. In the past I've read Laurell K Hamilton. Of course I've read the Twilight Saga. I liked the story, but the writing was terrible.
What do you read?
Anyone have suggestions for good paranormal romance books?

I tend towards fluffy books, in particular cozy mysteries and sci-fi/fantasy. I find the heavy books tend to be depressing for me and I use reading to escape reality.

I go back and forth. If I read something heavy then the next book will be fluff. I find my go to fluff is Nicholas Sparks or stuff like that. Right now I'm reading "When I found you" ...just started so I have no idea how it's going to turn out.

Have you tried any of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series? They are by J. R. Ward. I also like Karen Marie Moning...she writes about the Fae.
I don't know if you would call him a "heavy" author but I think George R. R. Martin is a "dense" novelist. His novels are compactly written and at least for me take a while to read. I loved every one of the Fire and Ice novels that he has released so far...they just take a while to read.

I read anything! I tend to read more historical fiction and mystery/thriller. I like chick-lit every so often.

I try to read 2-3 fluff books to one serious book. I consider not only romance, but most chick lit and cozy mysteries to be "fluff".
I too read for relaxation, and hate being overly depressed by a story. However, sometimes I get tired of the same old story, so "heavy" books are great for suspense, for insight, and for a change of pace.

I am almost exclusively fluffy, but read a more literary book every once in a while as sort of a palate cleanser! I love regency era historical romances best.
I was at the gym the other day, finishing up on a machine and a guy came over and asked me if I was just finishing or just starting. Then he took a big interest in my kindle, which was sitting on the machine, to the point that he was actually close enough to read it. I was so glad it was on a tame page in one of my steamy trashy romances, and the word C*ck was nowhere to be found. I told him that's why I like my Kindle, no one can judge me for what I'm reading!

I think I still need to read the latest in the series, but it's been out of my library since they got it in.

Fluffy for sure, but I like my fluff a little violent and scary. We'll call it dark side fluff. Psychological thrillers, murder mysteries, etc, but fluff nonetheless. Apparently, I am a slightly disturbed individual. I also will read some chick lit too. I really can't get into the supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) thing that is so popular. I am stuck in the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat era...those were great books.
Deep reading seems like so much emotional and mental work that when I try to read something like that I struggle with finishing it. Fluff books just seem to read themselves for me.

Heavy fluff? LOL. Right now I'm reading Jennifer Weiner and then Lisa See, which are somewhat less fluffy than, say, Nicholas Sparks. But not as heavy as real literary fiction.

True-crime book addict here, so while it isn't heavy in the philosophical sense, I can't really call it fluff either. I do like Anita Shreve, Wally Lamb, Chris Bohjalian, Jennifer Weiner, etc. too, so I guess those would be fluffy.

I go back and forth, but lately, it has been a lot of fluff. As long as I have a few book options in my library bag, I'm happy. Today I'm starting a James Patterson book -- the latest in the Women's Murder Club series.

I read a lot of Jonathan Kellerman, Lisa Gardner and Dennis Lehane type books, but have also been reading a lot of non-fiction as well, lately. I seem to be doing a one to one ratio these days.

Both, absolutely. If it interests me, I'll read it. All kinds of fiction and non-fiction. Literary fiction, mysteries, thrillers, biographies, so-called chick lit (hate that term), memoirs...I just love books!

Mostly Fluff. Probably about 95% if I'm being honest. lol I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy and romance. If I can get two of those combined, even better. I love Mercedes Lackey. Huge fan. It's funny...my 15yo DD is more of a literature person. She just finished reading Les Mis. She grabbed the unabridged version! She said, "Damn, he needed an editor. Good book, though!" lol

I think most people would consider most of what I read to be heavy. I like books that are long, and I like to learn about things I don't know about when I read.
It's not like I'm reading Physics books for fun, but I do like to finish a book thinking that I know a little more about a subject than when I started. For example, right now I'm reading Alaska by James Michener. It's historical fiction and it's entertaining, but I'm learning a lot about the history of Alaska that I didn't know about.
ETA: I do read my share of fluff too.

I read fluff I will read contemporary as well as paranormal romance.
I also recommend the Karen Marie Moning books - I loved her Highlander series and the Fever series - I didn't want to read the Fever series because I thought I wouldn't like it and didn't like the idea of the Fae but wow it was an awesome series - she just started another series which is a spin off but I haven't started it yet. She has horrible cliffhangers in her books. In one I so wanted to throw the book across the room and I did scream it was so bad - she left you mid scene right in the middle of a reveal so you - it was a very long wait for the last book.
Other series that I recommend
The Nalini Singh - Psy Changeling books are good Lynsay Sand - the Argeneau series is good and has a bit of humor in them Kerrelyn Sparks her vampire series is also good and really funny (didn't like the latest one as much) but the others have been great. Kresley Cole - Immortals After Dark series - mostly really good - I didn't like one but everyone else seemed to really like that one LOL. Lora Leigh - Breed series Keri Arthur - Riley Jenson Guardian books were really good Larissa Ione - Demonica books - I have only read the first series not the spin off Kim Harrison - The Hallows Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson Neill, Chloe - The Chicagoland Vampires Jeaniene Frost - Love most of her books and the Cat and Bones ones are classics Richelle Mead - Georgina Kincaid Gena Showalter - Lord of the Underworld and Atlantis series - Oh I forgot the Alien Huntress books - they were interesting as well. Shelly Laurenston - Pride series Vicki Lewis Thompson - Wild About You Sherrilyn Kenyon - Dark Hunter
Of course there are the Sookie books as well
Rachel Caine The Morganville Vampires - this is young adult but they are still good Cassandra Clare - The Immortal Instruments - again young adult but good Richelle Mead - Vampire Academy another young adult series I enjoyed
These should keep you busy for a while - I had to go back through my goodreads to remember some of these and now I want to reread some of them. I am behind on a few of these series and hope to catch up this summer.

Mostly fluff. Lots and lots of cozy mysteries. Some not so cozy mysteries, a fair bit of sci-fi, some general fiction, and some nonfiction. Nothing too heavy. I tend to pick what looks entertaining and interesting.

I read some fluff, but also a lot of heavy books. I read an embarrassing amount of WW2 stuff. I am fascinated by that time period and all the stories that came from the war. I also read a lot of memoirs from people with crappy childhoods.
My book club teases me that I only like depressing books, so I guess I do lean more to the heavy side.

I really like to mix it up so if I read something heavy I'll follow with something light. I do that with genres too, say a mystery then a historical fiction.

Primarily fluff. I do a significant amount of serious reading for work. The last thing I want to do in my spare time is read a book that requires intense concentration. I want the story to just flow over me.

I read just about anything and enjoy all genres but Horror and (big confession here as I am a HS librarian) I cannot stand YA. I admit to being one of the few people on the planet that disliked A Fault In Our Stars. Am I banned from this site now?
