My version of PL is just scrapbooking my photos using the cards and divided page protectors with traditional pages mixed in. Scrapbooking should be individual with no rules to worry about.

joblackford aww, I was happy to see Mimi in this post! And love how you found a way to make it work for you. I have a question for digitizing, now that the technology is fairly good, has anyone taken photos of layouts to be reprinted? Or is scanning still a better option? I am trying to get my head around starting to do this to be able to put a digital book together for my nephew in a few years. I figure if I can just take photos of the layouts, then I can start doing that as I go. I think if you can get well lit, high quality, square photos - no lens distortion - photos can be a really good way to go. Scanning didn’t work well for some of my pages because they had a little dimension. But years ago I took photos of all my Japan pages and although I got around the distortion I didn’t get the lighting bright enough and/or didn’t edit the photos correctly and they turned out quite dim and muddy. But I think taking photos as you go is ideal if you can get good ones. Thanks for the Mimi love I scraplifted that page/used an SC template and it turned out much better than I expected.

As far as album size goes, everyone just needs to do what works for them and the type of layouts they do (photo heavy vs. one or two photos, events vs. moments, PL vs. traditional topics). I was never attracted to Project Life, our lives are just not that busy and interesting. However, a couple of years ago I decided I would start doing a monthly layout so that I could include a little of the more mundane in my scrapbooks rather than just the big events and vacations. Unfortunately, I've been doing catchup scrapbooking these last 2 years, so I haven't had time to try the monthly layouts. But maybe that's what you could do with the Project Life albums -- condenses them from weekly to monthly layouts and reduce the filler - focus on what seems important and relevant and worth remembering in hindsight. I fear that digitized scrapbooks are going to get 'lost' . Who will have access to them, and who will maintain the access and passwords? Maybe digitize as a backup, but keep the paper copies.

That's why I do most of my scrapping that way. My life is very boring. I don't want to do a whole page about a new restaurant we tried, so it's next to a photo of my daughter's birthday in the same page protector. I also don't have any cohesive look on most of my pages either. 😆
